Ch. 32: You Think I am Pretty?
Sirius' POV (Angela)
I could see Denver was trying her hardest not to blush as I stared at her with my burning gaze. Her mouth was as snappy as always. That sexy mouth of hers...
She was still wearing my shirt. I could see the outline of her body through the shirt, and even with that messy hair all over her face and neck, she looked good enough to eat.
"Your eyes might pop out of your sockets if you stare any harder, pretty boy," she hissed.
"Oh? You think I am pretty?" I smirked.
"Pfft...I was being condescending, duh!" she grinned and looked away. "I think you are below average, actually."
I leaned forward and placed my arms on her sides. "Is that right? Girls tell me I have sexy eyes. Do you think they are average too?"
She shifted uncomfortably and tried to avoid my eyes, but she couldn't since she was trapped. "I don't think they are sexy at all," she said quietly. Her facial expression changed all of a sudden, and she frowned. "WHAT? I DON'T!" she cried out all of a sudden.
"Um...you already said you don't," I said and looked at her suspiciously. I had a feeling she wasn't talking to me. "You've been talking to yourself a lot. What's the deal with that?" I asked.
"I am not...I don't know! Just get off me! Your breath stinks," she laughed and pushed me off.
"No, it doesn't. It smells like Summer's breeze," I said playfully.
"Are you two almost done with flirting? Because I am going to gag," Joshua intervened all of a sudden.
I stepped away from Denver. Joshua looked tired, like he hadn't slept well. I saw dark circles under his eyes, and he was missing his usual bright smile.
"Xavier is supposed to come over to hang out in a minute," I said, thinking it would cheer him up.
"Okay," Joshua replied.
Huh? Just okay? No over the top excitement and flirtatious comment about his Wolfdaddy? That's strange.
As if on cue, Xavier burst inside the house. "Good morning, Uglies!" his deep voice boomed across the room.
"It's noon, you idiot!" I barked.
"Whatever, why did you call me here? Are we all friends now or something? There goes my cool status," Xavier commented, but he didn't sound all that worried about his reputation. "What's up, shortcake?" he smirked at Joshua who had been unusually quiet this whole time.
"I...I am gonna go change my clothes," Joshua mumbled and left the room. Well, that was odd.
"Is it just me, or is he acting a little weird today?" I asked Denver.
"Well, one can only take so much rejection," she shrugged.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Xavier was as clueless as ever.
"Nevermind, I am going to change my clothes too," she got up. I grabbed her arm before she could walk away.
"Don't. I like you wearing my shirt," I whispered in her ears.
"Too bad, I don't care about your creepy desires. And I hate when you touch me, so let go of my arm," she snarled.
"Are you sure? Then why do your heart race and your cheeks turn red when I touch you?" I grabbed her waist and pulled her closer.
"Let go of me, or I will scratch your eyeballs out."
Her face was turning red, but not because she was blushing. This time, it was because she was getting angry. I saw it coming as she was a total firecracker.
I started to say something cheeky but stopped when I saw her eyes. Her deep brown eyes shifted suddenly into a different color.
Purple?
What the fuck?
I cupped her right cheek and leaned over to take a closer look, but she pushed me hard. I stumbled slightly as I wasn't expecting it.
"Don't you dare try to kiss me again, you jerk!" she waved her finger at me.
"Sorry, I wasn't going to," I threw my hands up in surrender.
"Whatever, I am going upstairs. You are lucky I hate you less for saving my ass last night but don't push it," she declared and stormed upstairs.
"That was some heavy flirting. I almost threw up in my orange juice," Xavier commented, but I didn't answer. My thoughts were all over the place. Did I just see her eyes turn purple? Or do I need glasses? No, that's not possible. My vision was perfect. I am a nocturnal animal, for fuck's sake.
"Did you notice anything different about Denver?" I asked Xavier.
"Yeah, she seemed to be warming up to you a lot more," he replied.
"Not that. I meant the way she looked. Her eyes to be specific," I said thoughtfully.
"What about her eyes?" Xavier put his juice down and looked at me curiously.
"I thought I saw them change. I noticed it last night too. They had a purple hue to them. Just now, it happened again. More clear this time," I said.
Xavier looked thoughtful. "Do you think she is not human?" he said.
My mind whirled. That can't be possible, can it? I would've sensed it earlier.
"Impossible," I mumbled.
"You don't know that. She could be one of us," he suggested.
"I don't think so," I said dismissively. "I would've known. I've touched her and gotten closed to her several times."
Could it be she is something else? A half breed?
"Why are you just standing there like a dumb lamp post? You are blocking the stairs."
My thoughts were interrupted as Denver stood in front of me. She changed into another t-shirt which looked like a dress on her. I was disappointed that she wasn't wearing my shirt anymore, but I mentally forgave her since she looked sexy. I stepped aside to let her pass me.
"So kids, what's on the agenda today?" Xavier asked casually.
"I don't know about you guys, but Joshua and I are planning on staying here and have a horror movie marathon. You are more than welcome to get the fuck out of here, so we don't have to see your ugly faces all day," Denver said.
"Awe! You are so sweet. We would love to stay and watch movies with you guys. X?" I gave Xavier a meaningful glance, urging him to stay.
"I am staying too. Shortcake may be annoying, but he has a great selection of snacks," Xavier said. His eyes were glinting. What was he so excited about?
Denver rolled her eyes and sighed. "You aren't easy to get rid of, are you?"
I smiled and put my arm around her shoulder.
"Nope."
Hi dear Wattlings.
Thank you for reading.
So, Sirius is beginning to notice a few things. Maybe he's right in staying to see if he can get more clues? What do you think will happen?
If you like it then pop a vote and please leave comments. The comments are important for me to know how the story is progressing and the characters are developing. And I'd love to know what you think and interact with y'all.
Give me a follow too for updates on other work and put this book in your library. I'd appreciate that.
