A few days passed. Spencer had a lot of breakdowns lately, not that she could control it. The doctors had said that mood swings would come with the head injury, and for Spencer, whenever she got irritated with herself, it brought some sort of breakdown. The recovery would not be easy, Toby knew that much.

                Now, he was sitting was sitting around at The Brew with Caleb and Ezra. “So, Toby, what’s the deal with Spencer? Is he going to be alright?” Ezra asked while taking a bite of his salad.

                “Yeah, she’s, she’s okay,” he replied with a forced smile.

                Caleb paused. “You don’t sound too convinced.”

                Toby suddenly became very interested in the sandwich he was picking at. “I don’t know,” he confessed. I think she’s going to be okay. I mean, when I’m with her, she’s fine. More than fine. It makes me really happy, because I think everything is going to be alright. But it’s when she thinks I’m not looking that it bothers me. She just gets this look, this miserable look.”

                “That won’t last,” Ezra added in. “Everyone feels like that after surgery. You can’t get up and do anything! Remember when I got my tonsils out in Junior High? I hated it! My mom wouldn’t even let me sit up!”

                Laughing, Toby nodded. “Was that when you snuck out the window to go to the movies with us?”

                Caleb just rolled his eyes.

                “That’s not something to be proud of, Ezra!” he smiled. “But seriously, Toby. Maybe you should just, I don’t know, talk to her. Have you tried that?”

                “No.”

                Suddenly, his phone rang with a small e-mail alert and he instantly glared at it, expecting to see another radio show begging for an interview. Instead, though, it was from MTV. “Huh,” he mumbled when he opened it.

                “Who is it?” both of his friends asked.

                Toby bit his lip. “Not Alone ended. It ended. They want Spencer and me to fly to California for the live Not Alone ‘Stars Tell All’ episode.”

                “Didn’t Jamie and Joe win?” Caleb asked.

                “Yup!”

                “Aw,” Toby grinned. ”I’m happy for them. But…you know what! I’m going. It’s time to clear up all these rumors that have been spreading through the media.”

                “You go boy!” Ezra giggled. “Now go tell your woman that you’re going back to Cali!”
