Chapter 3

Luca's POV

I was eighteen years old when Harry sent me to New York. I hated it here more than anything. It's always too noisy and the traffic is just unbearable.

After one year of fighting my mother and Harry. I gave up and decided to make something out of myself. I was in the third year of my college pre-med course and I had a hell of a long journey to go. I was studying to become a pediatrician.

I missed England more than anything, the food, the weather, the live football matches and more importantly I missed Allison, my girlfriend.

It was hard making a long-distance relationship work and I'll be honest I hadn't been faithful through it all, but I've confessed my infidelity to her and she too admitted that she hadn't been all that faithful to me either.

After that, we promised that we would always stay true to each other and I kept my promise. Whenever I went back home for the holidays, I'd sneak away to spend time with her.

My family didn't like Allison. Especially my mother. I think it was part of the reason she didn't let me come back. So that I could be away from Allison.

My mother blamed Allison for everything that went wrong in my life. She blamed her for the parties, the drinking, the smoking, my rebelliousness, and the funniest one from the entire list. She blamed Allison for my long hair.

I'll admit I kept my long hair because it annoyed Harry more than anything. Especially when he had to introduce me as his son.

Allison had beautiful long shiny blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes. She had her fair share of tattoos. We both shared a love for ink.

I remember the day I took her to meet mum, Harry, and Stephanie. Mum almost fainted. Harry wanted to press the panic button and Steph looked like she saw a ghost. In my opinion, they were just exaggerating at the time.

I grabbed my car keys from the table, pocketed my phone, and shrugged on my jacket. I was going to Cullum's yearly house party. Callum, Ryan, Ross, and Anthony. We all became fast friends considering we shared a lot of the same interests.

"Going somewhere, sir?" I heard Jameson ask and I turned around to see him standing at the entrance to his room. We lived in a three-bedroom apartment rent-free because one of Harry's old school mates owned the building.

"Hello to you too dear," I said while looking for the keys to the apartment.

"Sir I must insist you retire for the night. You have done well not to get yourself into any further trouble for the past few months. A party..."

"Now Jameson. How is it that you know I'm going to a party? Been listening at my door again."

"You will have to forgive me for the intrusion, but I'm here to take care of you."

"Look James all I'm asking is that you turn a blind eye for tonight. I promise that there will be no trouble."

"But sir."

"Trust me this one time." With that, he sighed and turned to walk into his room.

I quickly exited the apartment and locked the door. I straightened my jacket and took the stairs down to my car. Jameson once followed me to a party. I threatened him that no one would find his body if he did it again.

It took me thirty-five minutes to get to the campus housing, due to the ridiculous amount of traffic on the road. Finally, my car pulled up at Callum's, Ross's, and Anthony's house.

I walked into the house and saw Callum and Ryan talking to two girls. I could barely hear my thoughts because of the loud music. "Hey," someone whispered in my ear and I turned around to come face to face with Ember.

"I've missed you," she said taking a step towards me and putting her hand on my bicep.

"Wish I could say the same."

"Oh Luca you crack me up," she laughed, taking another step forward. Ember is a rather leggy blonde that gave me the occasional creeps. Rather fun to look at, but I rather have someone stab me in both ears than listen to her talk. I have never met a more high pitched, self-absorbed girl.

"Look Ember as much as I enjoy your company. I really need the loo." I sidestepped her.

"I'll wait for you," she called after me.

"You'll wait forever," I called back.

Ember became obsessed with me after we hung out a few times. Crazy obsessed and the more I told her I wasn't interested and that I would never. She accepted it as a challenge and never gave up on pursuing me.

"Bro, I thought you weren't coming," Anthony shouted, as he walked over to me. He swung his arm around my shoulder and I could smell the alcohol of his breath. "And when are you going to stop letting poor Ember mope around you."

"By all means Anthony," I gestured with my hands for added emphasis. "You are more than welcome to try and get her to forget about me," Anthony smirked at first and then he gave me a pat on the back. "You a good man," he said and walked over to Ember.

I used that as my chance to escape to the bathroom before anyone else called me. I ran up the steps and I saw Trent the campus sleaze, sitting in a corner clutching a red cup.

"Having fun Trent?" I asked.

"'mazing... I'm fun," he mumbled, looking up at me. I shook my head and went into the bathroom. I was just here to have a few drinks and because of Callum's nagging.

As I washed my hands and exited the bathroom. I closed the door and saw a girl swaying and stumbling up the steps. She looked rather comical when she took two steps forward and three steps back. She was beautiful. She looked innocent considering the way she was dressed. Grey jean's and a baggy red top, but looks were deceiving because she seemed to be drunk or high, maybe even both.

"Sry batoom.... er... yer know? ," she asked Trent.

"Yesss suureee," Trent slurred with an evil smirk. It's amazing how two drunk people could understand each other.

He stood up and attempted to straighten his jacket. Miserable arse couldn't even stand. "Come with me babe," he said, burping in the end. I would have walked away. I could of went downstairs and carried on with my night, but I didn't trust Trent and if she were sober she wouldn't trust him too.

"Here drink this," he said and she took it and gulped it down which caused me to wipe a hand down my face from mental exhaustion. Was she some kind of moron? Who drinks from a stranger. Trent was pulling at her hand and she was resisting.

"Noooo," she wined. "Bathroom."

"I'll show you," he said, smiling darkly.

"Trent," I said and he turned around.

"Heyyy, Luca buddy wen u get here?" he slurred and the girl looked confused. Her eyes kept rolling back as if she was going to pass out at any minute.

"Leave the girl alone. She is drunk."

"Mind your business," Trent began getting defensive. He pushed me and I almost laughed at his feeble attempt when I didn't move a muscle.

"You not thinking clearly." I was becoming angry. The girl was swaying and she was about to fall. Trent pushed me again and I couldn't help what I did next. I punched him and he stumbled back holding onto his nose. There is no reasoning with drunk people.

"What the fuck."

"Fuck off before I permanently disfigure your face," I threatened and he stumbled away down the steps holding onto his bloody nose. So much for no trouble.

I turned to the girl next to me just in time to see her fall back. I quickly caught her before she fell and she looked up at me. "You okay now," I assured her. Her eyes began to roll back, she gave me a lazy smile and then pulled away from me.

"Where's the bathroom," she yelled. "Bathroom where are you?"

"It's right here," I said turning the handle to the door and pushing it open for her to see.

"Really?" She slurred and burst out laughing. "It's right there."

She suddenly stopped laughing and ran into the bathroom holding onto her mouth. I should have walked away but for some reason, my feet were glued to the ground. She started violently vomiting into the toilet. I went in there resisting the urge to vomit and helped her up.

"Fuck," I said looking at her. "What the hell did you do?" I asked and she burst out into tears.

"You know I didn't even want to come here tonight," she sniffled. I wanted to be a normal teenager for once and now I don't know what's wrong with me. I think I'm dying."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked in annoyance and grabbed tissues and mouth wash from the cupboard. "You being ridiculous you're not dying." I moved to wipe her face and she took a big step back.

"No don't you dare touch me!" She yelled.

"Are you crazy?" I whisper yelled. "If anyone came in here right now I'd be in deep shit because of you." I moved to wipe at her face while she tried to dodge me and she started waving her hand in the air to slap me. "Hold still."

"Help! He is trying to clean me..." she screamed and then burst out into laughter again.

I caught both her hands and held it behind her back with my one hand. "Drink this now!" I ordered and she shook her head defiantly. None the less I opened her mouth with my other hand and poured the mouth wash in. While she squealed. "Now spit it out," I said and she smiled sheepishly with her mouth full of mouth wash.

"I swallowed it," she said and laughed. She ducked under my arm and went out of the bathroom. I should have left her. But she was out of control. What was it to me if she was drunk and stupid? Maybe it's because she was confused and didn't know she was drunk.

"Would you wait," I chased after her?

"Why you follow me?" she whined when I caught up to her in the hallway.

"Look you need to relax. You drunk," I said and she shook her head.

"I would never drink!" She said while poking at my chest.

"So are you naturally a pain in the arse then?"

"You don't..." she didn't complete her sentence and walked away to the end of the hallway. She pushed open a door and went into a room.

Don't follow her. My brain screamed but it was too late, I was already standing at the door.

She was lifting up her sweater to take it off and I quickly ran into the room and pulled it back down."Oh, hello again. Are you following me?" She giggled.

"Unfortunately."

"I'm feeling really hot," she wined and moved to lift her top again.

"Please keep your top on. I'll just open the balcony doors." I went over to the balcony doors and pulled them open.

"Wheeeeeeee," she screamed in excitement and ran through the doors. There was a slight chill in the air and she started to spin in a circle.

"You are going to get dizzy you daft girl."

"You are going to get dizzy," she mocked in a fake English accent and I had it. I caught her hand and I stopped her from spinning. Her knees buckled as if she was going to fall and I put my arm around her waist to stabilize her.

She smiled and her hyperactive energy slowly started to fade away as she looked up at me."Are you real?" she questioned, reaching out a hand and poking at my face softly. It made me smirk at how childish she was being. She giggled as she looked deep into my eyes.

"No I'm a figment of your imagination," I said sarcastically. Her eyes were a beautiful hazelnut brown. They fluttered and she smiled up at me before they finally closed leaving a radiant smile on her face.

"Oh shit. No please wake up," I pleaded while trying to shake her awake, but she didn't budge. "Just fucking brilliant." I didn't know what to do. I couldn't leave her.

Guys like Trent were pigs and they would certainly take advantage of her. So I picked her up bridal style. "You are going to get me in trouble," I mumbled and she nuzzled her head into my chest. She looked so peaceful sleeping. She had a beauty spot just above her lip and her hair was a shiny chestnut brown. Her skin was pale and I pushed the hair out of her face.

I didn't know what to do with her. All I knew was that I couldn't leave her. I couldn't take her home because I didn't want to have to explain everything to her in the morning. So I decided that I'll just leave her in a hospital. With a plan in mind, I stepped out of the room with the girl in my arms and headed to the steps.

A dark-haired girl came up the steps, and her eyes narrowed in on the girl I was carrying. She started coming towards me with immense speed while yelling in Japanese. The fuck. "What did you do to her!" She yelled.

"Nothing," I said dodging a flying punch that almost connected with my face. The girl was shorter than me but she wasn't afraid that I was much bigger than her.

"You're lying!" she shouted, trying to attack me again.

"Would you calm down? I can explain." But nothing I said stopped her from trying to attack me.

"I'll cut you open and leave you to the coyotes to finish off," she threatened. It was hard to carry the girl and fight off another.

"Really now," I said in exhaustion.

"Himari stop maybe he is telling the truth," A girl with blonde hair, appeared behind the dark-haired girl.

The girl looked like she had been running. She was out of breath. "Thank goodness you found her. Who are you?" The blonde girl asked while staring worriedly at the sleeping girl in my arms.

"Fucking superman," I clipped in annoyance. I was trying to do the right thing. "I was going to leave her in a hospital."

"Could you help us get her back home?" The girl with the blonde hair asked and I sighed. What did I get myself into.

"If I must."

We went back downstairs and walked through the crowds of people. Everyone seemed to be preoccupied and no one noticed me carrying a girl in my arms.

The girls followed me to my black Mercedes. I loaded the sleeping girl into the front seat of my car and put her seat belt on.

Where do you live," I asked.

"Just down the street," said the blonde girl. I got into the car and put my seat belt on. The other two girls got in the back. "What did she drink," I found my dumb arse asking. I shouldn't be bothered, but I was curious. I know she drank from Trent but I was curious to know what she had before that.

"We don't know," said the Asian girl.

"She didn't drink on purpose. My friend Callum's brother had given us soda and she had mistakenly left it on the counter to stop my friend here from almost beating up a guy for touching her," I looked at the dark-haired girl through the car's review mirror. "Then she picked up the wrong cup and drank from it. When she realized what she had done it was too late. The effects of whatever she had already started to kick in."

Fucking Ross, liked playing mixologist. He would often whip up the oddest drinks for us. The hangover after you drank one of his mixtures would make you wish for death. The poor girl could have drunk anything.

"Just here," the girl who tried to beat me up said pointing at a house.

I got out of the car and went over to the passenger's side to get the girl. The other two girls had already got out of the car and walked up to the door. I gently picked the girl up and her head fell to my chest. I walked into the house and the two girls were both staring at me as if I was some kind of otherworldly being."Where should I put her?"

"Her room is just upstairs," said the girl with blonde hair and I followed her up the stairs. She opened the door to a room and I went in after her. I placed the girl on the bed and sat down beside her. She had a stuffed horrifying looking monkey on the bed. The thing had one button eye and one glass eye.

Her eyes fluttered open a little and she muttered something. "Where...?" before her eyes closed again causing me to smile as I pushed her hair out of her face. Stupid beautiful girl. Her skin was soft.

I removed my hand as soon as I realized what I was doing. I shouldn't be looking at her like this. I promised Allison that I wouldn't cheat again. I immediately stood up to create some distance between us. There was something about this girl I couldn't shake off maybe it's because she had that innocent look in her eyes.

"Thank you so much if you hadn't found her," the blonde-haired girl said grimly, and I shook my head as a means to shake away my ridiculous thoughts.

She is just another pretty face, nothing more. I'll get bored with her eventually. I mean look at her even my grandmother dresses better than she does and by the looks of her room, she is probably a nerd. Who bring books and stuffed animals to university. I need someone interesting and lively like Allison. I need to leave.

"Don't worry about it," I said and turned to the door. "I'll show myself out." I wanted to ask what the girl's name was, but I decided it best not to. I would never see her again. If she really is a nerd it would mean she is smart enough to never attend one of Callum's parties again.
