Chapter 1
She woke up gasping to the stale smell of a hospital room. The blinding lights shone into her half open eyes. Rey was sore from head to toe.
Where am I?
Her head throbbed mercilessly and at that moment she thought should would actually die. For a moment she thought she didn't have a name.
Who is Rey?
Me. I'm Rey.
The throbbing continued and Rey squinted her eyes shut tightly. The only words that echoed through her mind were 'Rey' and 'the resistance.' She didn't even know what 'the resistance' was. Rey searched her mind, possibly to find out what she was doing here in the first place.
She looked down at her body and examined the multiple cuts and bruises scattered about her arms, legs, and torso. A bulky white cast covered her right leg almost completely. Her torso started to throb. Lifting up her hospital gown she gasped. Along her lower chest and stomach was a long red scar, still red and inflamed.
Her eyes squinted, still trying to adjust to the bright lights above. The door swung open with a creak. Two figures stepped inside. It was two boys.
"Rey!" The first one shouted his lips curving into a smile. She raised her eyebrows in confusion as he reached to hug her.
"Who are you?" She croaked her voice cracking. His curly hair brushed against her arm. The boy pulled away in obvious shock.
"What are you talking about Rey?"
"Who are you and why are you touching me?" She snapped smacking his arm away.
"Rey it's me." He pleaded looking at her with sad eyes.
"I don't know who the hell you are." She hissed her voice low. The boy reluctantly stepped back and the other came forward.
"Hey Rey." His voice was low and sad. She was confused, why were they acting so weird? And why was she still in this room?
"Can someone just tell me what's going on!" Rey screeched her throat sore.
They looked at her with sad eyes before one of them started talking.
"Well I'm Finn and I don't think you remember me."
"I don't."
"Well you're one of my best friends." He pointed to the guy next to him. "And that's Poe our other best friend. We are the golden trio, the main three spies for the resistance."
"What's the resistance?"
The one who was called Poe sighed. "A spy organization that we work for. You're our most prized spy."
"What happened? Why can't I remember?" Rey's voice became frantic.
"You got into an accident —" Finn's voice trailed off.
"What accident?"
"It was a mission." Finn's voice grew quiet.
Rey stood at the edge of a cliff with none other than Kylo Ren. He peered at her with angry eyes.
"You need a teacher. I could help you become better." He hissed as she blocked his punch. "No I will never join you." She hissed back kicking him in the side. He fell to the ground. Rey smirked, circling him. Kylo leaned forward and grabbing her ankle causing her to fall down near the edge of the cliff. He stood up.
"So will you take my offer of what?" She stood up to face him. "Never."
"Suit yourself." He pulled out a blade and pointed it at her. Rey smirked taking hers out as well.
The swords clashed, creating silver gray sparks in the sky. Kylo stepped foreword as he swung the sword wildly at her. Rey deflected each swing, stepping back with each step he made.
They came near the edge of the cliff. "So will you still be accepting my offer? Last chance." He smirked pressing the blade closer to her. "I would rather die than join the likes of you."
"Suit yourself." He smirked pressing her further. Rey looked back as she tried to deflect his jabs. She was going to fall. Rey stepped moving as she inched near the edge. He took that as an opportunity and a fresh cut was made across her arm.
Suddenly she slipped and fell over the edge. She clung onto the damp earth, staring down at the black below. Her grip soon started to slip. "Help me." She was practically begging, Rey knew she would die one day but anything would be better than this.
Kylo looked at her for a moment, thinking.
"Will you help me or not?"
"Why should I help you? We are enemies!"
"Please!" Rey begged as tears streamed down her face, she was terrified.
He looked at her for a moment before offering his hand. "Don't make me regret this."
"I won't." Rey gripped his hand and pulled him over.
"What the hell was that for? I helped you!"
"Well that was a stupid move on your part. If I'm going to die you're coming down with me."
"Well we both would've survived if you let me help you!"
"We both know that's a lie." Rey shook her head. "The minute you rescue me the minute I die. There's a blade in your left hand."
Kylo sighed before dropping it in the abyss. "Goodbye Rey."
"Goodbye Kylo." She mumbled quietly, her voice barely a whisper.
"You know I never hated you."
"I know."
"Goodbye."
And with that the two fell into what seemed to be a bottomless abyss.
They fell into what seemed like water. Glorious cold, wet water. Kylo smiled and splashed the surface to check if he's wasn't dreaming.
He wasn't.
"Rey! We are alive! Rey?"
He turned around but didn't seem to see her anywhere.
"Rey! Rey! Rey!" He called out his voice echoing around. Ren never heard a response.
"Damn it Rey." He mumbled as he frantically splashed around the water searching for her.
"K-Kylo?" Ren spun around arubtly to face Rey's panicked face break from the waters gasp. Her voice was weak and her breaths were struggled.
He swam to her quickly. Ren never would've thought of swimming to a resistance spy and saving them but he saw the panicked look in her eyes. Sure they were rivals but he didn't want it to end this way.
He grabbed her limp body in his arms and swan around, searching for something. Luckily there was a slab on rock near the edge. Her placed her, lying down on the surface. Rey's face was incredibly pale and her hand clutched her torso. Moving it away he saw a long, huge, bloody gash going down her stomach. Ren ripped a piece of his cloak and wrapped her frail body in it. He didn't have anything on hand to treat her injuries. They were going to die.
As time went on her breathing slowed and her breaths soon became more struggled.
"Rey please." He begged clutching her. The feeling of caring was new to him.
"Get your hands off the girl! I repeat get your hands off the girl!"
Ren turned around to face none other than his mother Leia Organa. He hid his face away from her view.
"Rey!" A voice gasped running to her body. "Poe help me carry her!" The two boys carried her limp body away.
Soon it was just Kylo and his mom. "Did you do this to her?"
"No I swear I didn't! We fell and I —"
Leia looked away. "Are you hurt Ben?"
He looked down to find his body a bloody mess. "No." He lied.
"Yes you are. Can I help you? It won't be for a while Ben, but the resistance can heal you."
Ren shook his head. "No, never."
"Can we at least get you out of here?"
Ren nodded as he was taken to the top of the cliff. He nodded in gratitude before watching the helicopter fly away.
"You fell off a cliff during a fight and hurt yourself pretty bad."
Rey nodded slowly before catching sight of a black piece of fabric wrapped around her torso.
She jerked upright. "Kylo!" Rey yelled, panic in her voice, then she passed out.
