Chance
As we stormed the camp, I stood by Mark's side and fired at the oncoming guards while the liberated androids poured into the trucks.
"Mark!" I shouted, his eyes glazed over with a haunting look in them as bullets tore through his body.
Mark didn't react as he collapsed onto his knees in a pool of his own blood, his eyes staring off into nothing as he fell onto his back.
I could feel tears of desperation running down my face and dripping onto his as I kneeled by him and grabbed his hand with Markus providing cover for me.
"I'm not letting you give up."
Mark was alone lying on the ground with his eyes closed, rain soaking his clothes and hair.
"Jack, how-"
"I'll explain how I got here later, just please come with me." I instructed gently, offering Mark a hand.
As Mark reached out to take my hand, a male with light brown hair dressed in a pale blue robe appeared out of nowhere and dragged Mark away, pressing a gun to the side of his head.
Mark stiffened as I slowly got to my feet, my hands held up as I stared at the male.
"If I kill you, then he can go." The male stated.
"How do I know you'll hold up on the deal?" I countered warily.
"You won't, you'll just have to take my word for whatever it's worth." He answered simply, pressing the barrel of the pistol harder against Mark's skin.
Before I could react, Mark snapped his head back to hit his attacker's face, the male letting him go so Mark could join my side.
"You'll always belong to me Mark!" The man roared, blood running down his face from his nose.
"I did once Matt, but never again. I'm not alone anymore." Mark shot back, our surroundings shifting back to the camp.
The camp was devoid of humans, all freed androids already waiting in the trucks to be brought away to somewhere safer.
"What happened?" Markus asked me as I shook my head to clear away my confusion, Mark sitting up and seeming surprisingly okay despite his injuries.
"It was my director, Matt. He was trying to control me again." Mark muttered sourly, looking down at the multiple bullet wounds covering his body.
"How am I alive?" Mark wondered aloud, no one else knowing the answer.
"Because you're not a regular RK800 model."
I turned to see Dark standing behind us with an army of look alike gathered behind him, each armed with a weapon.
"We're all the first, and only, production line of RK1000 androids that were designed to be able to take lots of damage, as well as blend in to any area." Dark explained.
"So, who're all of these androids?" Tyler spoke up, gesturing at the others standing behind Dark looking at Mark.
"Let's see, there's Google," Dark started, an android dressed in a blue t-shirt with the Google "G" on it nodding in acknowledgement.
"The Host,"
An android with a tan bandana stained with human blood tied around his eyes crossed his arms over his chest.
"Wilford-"
"I've killed people!" An android with a bright pink mustache cheered happily, setting me on edge.
"Dr. Iplier,"
"I'm sorry, you're dying." An android dressed as a doctor told Mark grimly, his hands shoved into the pockets of his lab coat.
"And I'm Bim Trimmer." An android dressed in a plain black suit with glasses interjected with a grin, my head spinning with the amount of names I'd have to remember.
"Let's just get Mark patched up and go to the other camps, we still need to find Marzia, Jackaboy, Marvin, and Schneep." I spoke up.
"I'll take care of Mark and the other wounded, you all start freeing the other androids." Markus directed.
"Right. Markus, take this truck with the wounded and go with me to a safe place. Jack, take everyone else to free the other camps." Dark directed.
"What safe place are you talking about?" I chimed in, a knowing smile spreading on Dark's face.
"To my mansion."
Before I could reply, Dark went into a delegate truck and hopped into the driver's seat, Markus following him with Mark and the wounded.
"What camp do we go to next?" I murmured, unsure of which one would have Marzia and the others in it.
I had a fifty fifty shot, and I knew that if I guessed wrong, it would cost them and countless others their lives.
Uptown camp?
Downtown camp?
