Abandoned
"Finding someplace that's abandoned is the best idea. I don't want to steal from people or anything." Felix stated firmly through chattering teeth, goose bumps visible on his bare arms as the rain battered down on us.
"Let's look around some and see what we can find then." I conceded, helping the Swede searching for somewhere deserted we could stay.
"Hey, there's this junkyard here!" Felix announced, gesturing at the scrap filled yard across the street from us.
"We can check it out." I nodded, leading the way to the junkyard in case there was any trouble lurking inside.
"The gate is locked." I informed Felix grimly as I pulled on the entrance, the metal flexing slightly when I tugged on it.
"Don't worry, I got this." Felix assured me confidently, scaling the fence despite its slick surface and dropping to the ground on the other side with a thud.
"C'mon over M-"
Felix let out a girly scream as something came up from behind and wrapped its arms around him while I hastily climbed the fence.
"Robbie found friend! Robbie happy."
As I landed on the other side of the fence, the thing holding Felix let go, allowing the Swede to dart over to my side.
It was an android with pale purple hair dressed in a black and white striped long sleeve shirt and black pants, its milky white eyes looking at us as it smiled.
"Junkyard is Robbie home, Robbie like home." The android continued as it tottered off, Felix exchanging a confused look with me as we went in the opposite direction of the android
"Wait, Robbie help!" Robbie cried, scampering after us and taking my hand, pulling on it like a child.
"Robbie show friends home." Robbie stated, motioning for Felix and I to follow him as he limped forward.
I could tell that the android had been abused in the past judging by the long gash that ran horizontally across their neck, their movements sluggish and uncoordinated.
"Dude, the fuck happened to your neck?" Felix spoke up, Robbie pausing as I punched the Swede's arm.
"Robbie don't remember...Robbie felt scared, ran away...Robbie caught and hurt. Robbie woke up here alone. But it okay, I has you!" Robbie added cheerfully.
"Here, this Robbie's home!" Robbie announced, gesturing to an abandoned truck trailer filled with a pile of old newspapers, a ratty blanket, and a makeshift fire pit with a flame already burning inside of it.
"It's very nice." I told Robbie, genuinely impressed as Felix and I stepped inside out of the rain and stood by the warm fire while Robbie curled up onto the newspapers.
"This is Robbie bed, but Robbie share." The android offered, wrapping the blanket around him as he spread out the newspapers to make the "bed" bigger for myself and Felix.
"Um, I hate to be a bother by asking you this bro, but do you have any food?" Felix interjected politely.
"Food?" Robbie repeated in confusion with a small frown, tilting his head to the side slightly as he sat up with the blanket hanging around his shoulders.
"Yeah, like..." Felix trailed off, looking at me with a lost expression as he struggled to find the right words to say.
"Do you have any edible substance Felix can eat?" I asked, Robbie's expression turning thoughtful.
"Felix like za?" Robbie questioned, getting up to his feet with wide eyes.
"Um...yes?" Felix answered hesitantly, Robbie crawling out of the shelter into the downpour and disappearing out of sight
"When that android showed you a safe place where we could stay, where was it?" Felix spoke up curiously as he held his hands close to the fire.
"There's an android revolution group in LA called the Resistance that accept all refugees." I informed him, Felix nodding in response.
"Robbie bring za!" Robbie cheered victoriously as he returned with a soaking wet pizza box in hand.
"What the-where did you find that?!" Felix exclaimed in disbelief as he took the box and opened it, half of a cheese pizza left inside.
"Robbie find in trash!" Robbie answered, Felix's nose wrinkling in mild disgust as he held up a piece and warily sniffed it.
"Felix, just eat it, there's no food anywhere else." I instructed sternly, Felix rolling his eyes as he took a bite.
"Felix like?" Robbie prompted hopefully.
"Yeah, Felix like." Felix spoke through a mouthful of pizza.
"Yay! Robbie rest, Robbie sleepy." Robbie decided as he staggered back to the newspaper bed, curling up on it like a dog and draping the blanket over him.
"Felix, I think we should take him with us." I whispered to the Swede, the male almost spitting out his pizza in surprise.
"Why? It'll be harder to travel with two deviants!" Felix hissed, Robbie shifting slightly in his sleep.
Take Robbie with us?
Leave Robbie?
