Chapter 3

This was not what Jungah would describe as fun. Music blaring from the speakers, people raising their hands up in the air and swaying their bodies according to the beat and the smell of alcohol which filled the entire club.

She would prefer curling up in bed with her laptop as her fingers worked the magic. Nonetheless, she ended up sitting at the bar counter with Hoseok, accompanying her.

••••••••••••••••••<Few hours ago>••••••••••••••••••

The door bell rang so Jungah headed down the stairs to answer it. She blinked her eyes as she checked her own friend out from head to toe.

Hoseok was always good looking but he looked exceptionally hot with his hair styled in a way that his forehead was slightly showing. His outfit didn't look like he tried too hard but it just matched so perfectly on him. He could walk the runaway anytime with that look.

"Knock knock, Jungah," Hoseok teased as he lightly flicked her forehead.

Jungah whined and rubbed her forehead.

"Why are you dressed like that?" she asked as she let him inside. The two of them went upstairs to her room.

"Told you we are going to have fun," he answered.

"And where exactly are you talking about?"

"The club!" he chirped.

"No," she sighed and Hoseok's face fell immediately.

"Come on, Jungah. You need to let it all go," he tried to convince her which was not working.

"You know club is not my style."

"Ed Sheeran might say that club is not the best place to find a lover but it might be for you. Who knows? We might find that hot looking devil of yours tonight!"

Jungah contemplated. Hoseok's plan felt kind of convincing. She glanced back the the ball of sunshine who was looking at her with puppy eyes.

"You don't plan on giving up, do you?"

A wide grin spread on his face and he nodded his head. Jungah let out a sigh and gave in.

"Fine but I don't know what to wear."

"You look fine with anything but I'll just pick it out for you," he said as he opened the closet.

He started taking some outfits out and checking which would be perfect for tonight. Of course he wanted her to match with him as well. In the end, he picked a black leather jacket and black pants with white cropped tank top underneath.

Jungah took the clothes he picked and excused herself to get changed. When she came out, Hoseok suggested her to tie her hair into a ponytail and to wear a choker. She wore her makeup not too thick or thin; just enough to add colour to her skin.

Hoseok whistled when she was finally done dressing up.

"Looking good, bae!" He complimented and Jungah laughed. With that, they headed off.

••••••••••••••••••<Current Time>••••••••••••••••••

That was how she ended up in this club and she was starting to regret coming. It was too loud and crowded. She covered her ears and groaned.

"Jungah... are you okay?" Hoseok worriedly asked.

"I'm fine... you should go and dance."

"Nope. I'm going to stick here with you. I brought you here to have fun, not just me."

Jungah sighed and smiled at Hoseok. She guessed she should at least try to enjoy the night since Hoseok was trying so hard.

"Well, I guess-"

Jungah stopped talking when she noticed Hoseok staring at a person behind her. His eyes were huge and he looked like he had just seen a ghost. Jungah wondered what would make Hoseok have that expression. Curiously, she turned around.

It was a mistake and she wished she had never turned around. And now, she had to meet him.

"Hey... how have you been?"

A tall man stood before her. His ash grey hair parted neatly to the side, exposing his forehead which added the charm. His bronze skin and illegal dimples which she just couldn't get enough of were clearly seen under the dim lights of the club. Not to mention his fashion sense, he could be mistaken for a model.

Kim Namjoon, the CEO of the publishing company that Jungah worked for and also her ex-boyfriend.

Nonetheless, work is work and the pay is high. She worked hard to get the job and she never planned to quit just because they broke up.

But seeing him still pissed her off.

"As you can see, I'm doing very fine and I'm here to party with Hoseok," Jungah hooked hands with Hoseok, who went along with the act. Namjoon flinched a bit when he spotted Hoseok glaring at him. Jungah was oblivious to her friend's expression.

Namjoon shook off the shivering feeling that went down his spine.

"Well, that's good to hear. The book is doing very well and-"

"Oppa! What is taking you long?"

He was cut off when a lady whined as she grabbed his hand. She was literally rubbing her body against him and acting all cute.

"Sorry babe. I met a colleague and was talking to her."

Oh for the love of god, Jungah wished that she could just punch him in the face. It hadn't even been a day and she's just a colleague to him already. Or was she always seen as a colleague? She couldn't tell anymore and all she wanted was for those two lovebirds to get out of her face before she ends up raging.

Putting on a smile, she turned to Namjoon.

"It was unexpected to see you here, Director Kim. Please look forward to my new book. You will definitely enjoy it."

Namjoon felt chills running down his spine. Hearing her call him so formally didn't feel good at all. He knew he shouldn't have cheated but he couldn't help it. It just happened and he definitely felt guilty about it. However, he couldn't afford to lose such an amazing writer.

He wanted to apologise to her properly as well. It was not that he didn't love her. In fact, he did but he didn't know when those feelings started to fade away and he ended up walking out of this relationship.

However, was there any mutual love from the start?

"I-"

"Oh come on, oppa! This is supposed to be our night! Talk about work when you meet her at the company tomorrow!" his girlfriend complained and pulled him away.

"I'll see you tomorrow then," Namjoon told Jungah before fully giving his attention to the other.

Hoseok worriedly observed Jungah after the couple left.

"Are you okay?"

Jungah looked at Hoseok and banged her head against the bar counter. Hoseok gasped in shock.

"J-J-Jungah?!"

She sat up straight and raised her hand to get the bartender's attention.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

"That *beep*! I hope he *beep* dies! I'm doing nothing because he's my *beep* director. Just watch! I'll make sure his *beep* character in my book suffers like hell," she scowled as she slammed another empty cup down.

She was about to call the bartender to order another drink but was stopped by Hoseok.

"Jungah, you are way too drunk. It's enough."

"Oh have mercy on me, sunshine. I'm broken hearted. Let the alcohol sink in and take away my pain."

"But-" Hoseok was interrupted by a phone call. He took his phone out and checked the caller. He let out a sigh, "I need to take this call. I'll end it quickly so just stay here and don't go anywhere, okay?"

Jungah just nodded her head and chucked down another cup of alcoholic drink.

The music was too loud and Jungah was starting to get dizzy as the noises entered harshly into her ears. She grabbed her drink and decided to head to the rooftop to get some fresh air.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

It was cooler on top. Beautiful art was painted across the dark sky. Jungah inhaled the fresh air deeply and let out a huge sigh. She looked at her surroundings and saw couples having their moments everywhere.

Seeing them being so happy didn't help her feel any better. In fact, she could even hear her heart crack a bit. She walked away to the corner and sat down with her booze. She looked up at the round moon which was smiling back at her as if trying to comfort her.

She looked down and stared at her drink. She let out another depressing sigh.

"When will I get my happy ending?"
