"Wow, I just realized, it's been a little more than a hundred years. Since we— died? Re-died? Passed on? I don't fucking know, but calculating, we were born a hundred years later exactly."
Yoongi's words made Jimin hum in thought. The two were lying in bed, comfortable beside each other. They hadn't slept, it was hard to after a recent death and without major exhausting activities.
"Yeah. Has there been a case like this before? It's so crazy, I thought we'd be gone forever like usual. It's... it's weird, somewhat fascinating. And, we instantly rematerialized too."
Yoongi slowly nodded, eyes averting to look at the wall. Nothing was happening like they'd learnt before.
"It really is crazy."
The air fell silent, only the sound of their even breathing present in the room.
"It really makes me wonder, though, about other cases. Like... that woman you saw, maybe she's out there somewhere."
Yoongi pursed his lips in thought, brows furrowing.
"What if we died by old aged diseases? I really wonder about then, if we would have this soul, or pass on yet again."
Not saying anything, Jimin just stared, eyes running over the fair skin of Yoongi, and his pretty blue hair.
"You look really good with blue."
Yoongi grinned.
"I do, don't I? It's the same with you for blonde."
Jimin shot him a cute smile at the compliment, but then spoke with a serious glint in his eyes.
"We... we need to get our hair colors changed. For all we know, this could cause chaos in the after-death world. And, it's easier to disguise ourselves around here for the time being if we get our hair colors changed."
Nodding in agreement, Yoongi thought out loud.
"Ah, the police are going to come in here in a few days probably. We gotta leave by, then; can't have too much evidence that stuff's been used after our death, either."
Jimin looked at him curiously; both of them knew what he was going to say next.
"We gotta go past the gates, right?"
"Yeah. Heaven and Hell, impossible from the security. We have to go through the direct gates to Afterlife. Staying here after we died is too dangerous."
With a giggle, Jimin pointed out.
"We also can't fly. We forgot how to."
"Yeah, I can't believe you almost crashed us into all those buildings back there."
Saying the words with mock disappointment as he shook his head, Yoongi huffed jokingly. Jimin laughed out loud, smacking him on the arm lightly.
Then, Jimin just stared, all the world's affection in his eyes. With a sad gaze, he snuggled close.
"I missed you."
Heart squeezed, Yoongi put his arms around Jimin.
"I missed you, too, Jiminie. Although we didn't really know, it feels like we haven't seen each other in so long, my heart aches. I love you."
"Love you, too."
The two kissed sweetly, ending before it got too heated. Those kisses that brought warmed and soothed their heart.
Then, Jimin realized something.
"How are we going to get the hair dye?"
Yoongi bit his lip, thinking. Then, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he had an answer.
"We can sneak into a department store at night and leave money there. No one'll suspect much if we do it just as the manager's closing up."
Jimin looked at him incredulously.
"You're kidding?"
Yoongi shook his head, laughing a little.
"What else could we do in this situation?"
"Oh my god— you aren't kidding."
•
"You think Taehyung, Jungkook, and Hoseok are alright?"
Jimin asked as they were walking down the empty road, under the streetlights, having no shadow.
"They should be fine. Namjoon and Jin, too. We'll know when we get there."
Yoongi noticed a coffee shop drive through just a few steps away, groaning out loud in complaint.
"I'm craving coffee, now. It's been years with my own tongue."
"We didn't even have coffee before we lived on earth, I still can't believe you got addicted."
Yoongi shrugged, pointing at the coffee shop.
"You think we can order some from the drive through? I think I have my credit card from the pants I'm wearing now? Or maybe the one you're wearing?"
Jimin rummaged his pocket and as Yoongi had said, there was a credit card.
"But won't this leave traces? We gotta use cash."
"Yeah, lets just buy one dye, then. Here."
Yoongi handed over the cash he'd brought to use for the hair dye.
"Won't she recognize me from the news? Our faces are all over the place."
Yoongi shrugged, not seeming to care.
"She's the only one, it's night, she'll think she hallucinated."
Jimin nodded.
"Right."
"Get me the Americano."
"I know."
•
Before he entered the sight range of the woman at the drive-through window, Jimin changed forms, after making sure no cameras were around, and approached the window.
"Excuse me, miss? I'm without a car but in need of coffee. Can I have an Americano? I'll pay you in cash, 20% more as a tip."
The girl looked at him with wide eyes and Jimin sweat a little. Did she recognize him that fast? Yoongi had sent him thinking Jimin would be less recognized, but then this happened.
After a moment of thought, the girl nodded. Preparing Americano was easy, so she got started quickly.
Hearing the news come back on after the advertisement was done, she heard the news reporter say the same news that's been on since the afternoon.
"Death of CEO Kim Seowon and his lover Jung Juseon in a car crash. They died together, in each other's arms—"
As the girl was giving the paper cup to Jimin, she noticed an uncanny similarity between his face and the one on the news.
When accepting the cash, she glanced at him, to the TV, and back at him, then back at the TV, and finally back to Jimin, eyes widening.
Jimin smiles and thanked her before quickly walking away, changing forms in the patch of darkness.
The girl, scared and confused, leaned closer to see if she could see him anymore. She couldn't.
•
"I think I scared her; she was watching the news."
Yoongi snorted at the words, taking the coffee and sipping a delicious sip. His grin was happy and sweet.
"Thanks, love."
He said, pressing a soft kiss on Jimin's cheek before the two resumed their way to the store.
"You think this has to do with us being forced to pass on?"
Jimin asked, after a long moment of silent thought.
Yoongi looked surprised, like he just realized that might have been it.
"It's a possibility. It makes sense."
"That brings me to think, when do angels and demons pass on? We can't be doing our duties and all forever?"
Jimin glanced at Yoongi, seeing if he'd have a reply. But, Yoongi just sighed, seeming just as confused as Jimin. He gave Jimin a side-glance, a little hopeless look in his eyes.
"I don't know."
The rest of the walk was silent, but not uncomfortable. They walked close, wings folded down so other creatures couldn't see so easily, hands held and shoulders touching.
It had been a while — a very very long while — since they'd been this close and warm.
