"You didn't have to pick me up..."

Seowon's flustered voice brought a large grin to Juseon's face. The latter gently pulled Seowon's hands into his, interlocking their fingers as they walked alongside each other, leaving the CEO's apartment complex.

"Oh, shut up. I'm taking you out this time."

Seowon pouted but didn't complain any further, enjoying the warmth radiating from Juseon's hand.

"Where are we going? I thought we would drive?"

Seowon's question didn't have any spite or distaste, just innocent curiosity. Juseon gave him a side glance with a small smile.

"We're going to the flower festival nearby, car's unnecessary for this short distance."

The two just walked in comfortable silence, hands entwined. Last time dressed a little on the fancy side, this time they were both in casual jeans and tops.

"Is that it?"

Seowon's highly shocked voice — at the crowd on the other side of the road — drew laughter from Juseon. The giggles made Seowon crack a smile, heart warming at the lovely sight.

"Yeah. It's really popular."

Happily conversing about flowers and their favorites for different occasions, the two crossed the road.

"I can't wait to get flowers for Mama, she loves flowers, but says it's too much to take care of."

"We could've brought her along?"

"I offered, but she laughed it off and said we should go together."

As they're conversing and laughing at a joke one of them made, about to head towards the gate, but just then, Juseon checked his pockets to find that he accidentally dropped something.

"Ah, Seowon, wait here, I'll be right back."

With little warning, he headed towards the road again, crossing it without another thought.

Seowon's eyes widened in realization after a split second, feet already running after Juseon in instinct, everything around him turning mute.

The car was speeding, thoughtlessly and recklessly, and didn't slow down.

Not until it hit them.
