"Magcacaroon po nang paquiquisanib sa araw na ito. Hindi po ba naisin ninyo na sumama na ang mañga bagong capatid natin? [We will have our initiation today. Isn't it, you wanted our new brethren to join as well?]"

Juvena remembered that she asked the officers to consider finally allowing new members into the chapter, which was strictly forbidden immediately after news of Don Rizal rejecting the Katipunan's offer to free him from Spanish captivity. They agreed to it immediately, knowing that an uprising was coming soon, and any new member was valuable to the revolutionary effort.

She organized the way the initiation would go, including the arrangement of the Chamber of Reflection and tutoring for the candidates before their actual initiation. Though with the entire issue of her arrest and her thoughts spiraling out of control recently, which almost made her a lunatic, she forgot about the date of the actual meeting, until she was reminded of it today.

Since all the symbolism and rituals, such as the signs, candles and daggers, were all ready for use, the only thing left to do was for their fellow brothers to enter the Lodge, for the latest Karurukan of the Katipunan. However, before letting anyone in, the four officers discussed one last time how the initiation would go, and how the meeting would be structured due to it.

As was ordered, the whistle attracted those who recognized it, all of whom being members of the Katipunan. To avoid suspicion, they did not enter at the same time, but rather at intervals, each reciting the password for their respective rank, before entering and wearing their black and red hoods. The Sentinel did not need to imprison anyone, nor were any of his suspicions raised, since everybody was recognized as members. The Fiscal posted lookouts on the door of the house and the azotea. Everyone was told to sit on benches and chairs inside the living room of the house, which didn't exactly fit everybody comfortably, but nobody complained, since it wasn't a dinner party, it was a liberty party.

Juvena stood at the far side of the room, right below the staircase and the altar. She asked the Sentinel and the Fiscal whether the Lodge was secure enough for the meeting to continue. When they responded in the affirmative, she asked them all to stand. She declared: "Sa ngaran ng Bayang pinaghahadugang lubos ang Ating nilalayon, ipinauunawaan ko na bukas ang Mahal na Carurucang ito, sa ngaran ng Catipunan ng manga Anac ng Bayan! [In the name of the Nation, whose full freedom we aim for, I declare that the this Lodge open, in the name of the Association of the Children of the Nation!]"

She urged them to sit, and went on to discuss the business of the past meeting. As much as the Katipunan was a revolutionary association, a lot of the affairs involved the corporate expansion of the K.K.K., largely through the collection of funds and acquisition of weapons. The Secretary read out the business of the most recent Lodge, including the motion to reinstate initiation and the contribution from the supot nang saklolo, the collection pouch, which totaled nineteen pesos and twelve kuarta. It was a sizeable contribution, considering many were burdened by tribune payment and feeding a family.

Discussions about payment and acceptance of weapons were checked then approved by the Secretary. Usually, at this time, other motions would be passed and new business would be discussed, like the next meeting place, or the assistance of the chapter with the foundation of a new Barangay in the town. However, since nothing was brought up, the Treasurer immediately announced the amount of the Association's coffers.

As agreed upon prior to the Karurukan, the Secretary then stood up, and notified the President that some would like to join the organization. She replied, "Ganoon nga ba, Kalihim? Kung ganoon, ihayag mo ang mga nais makisanib sa ating Kapatiran. [Is that so, Secretary? Then, announce the names of those who would like to join the Brotherhood?]"

The candidates were told to wait outside, somewhat far from the house to avoid suspicion. The Watchman stayed outside for the duration of the meeting, looking on to the candidates.  When, the Secretary stood and announced the three names of those who wish to join, a signal was whistled by a guard posted by the Fiscal.

Inside, their livelihood and allegiance were verified by the members. Each person was asked by the President and the Sentinel, whether they honestly and genuinely wanted to free their country, and their people from the rule of Spain.

While the mass interrogation took place, the Watchman, with his assistants, held a dagger to the necks of the candidate. He asked for their name, those who recommended them to the Katipunan, and whether or not they would like to proceed. All of them answered accordingly and affirmatively. They were tasked to knock on the door of the Lodge. At this, the President urged all the members to raise their daggers, in defense.

The Sentinel went to the door asking: "Sino kayo? [Who are you?]"

In response, the Watchman answered: "Mula sa kapahamakan, akay ko ang mga taong buhat sa pagkalipin. Sila'y naparirito, at nais nilang dumaan sa pintong iyong tinatanuran, hanap ang ibig na Kalayaan [From danger, I have brought men, freed from the mire of bondage. They are now here, and wish to enter the door, you now guard, looking for the Liberty, they so adore]"

At this answer, the Sentinel motioned for the members to lower the daggers. Opening the door, the Sentinel and Watchman looked each other in the eye. He then looked beyond his shoulder, and saw that the people he vetted earlier had not disappeared or been added to. He nodded to the President, and ordered everyone to be seated, as the Sentinel closed the door. Then, the candidates were brought upstairs, to the dimmed second floor. The final part of their initiation as members of the Katipunan: The oath, taken at the Chamber of Reflection.
