i. finish what we started

ALEXANDER STOOD BEFORE the brass double doors of the throne room with a calm expression on his face. He was twenty minutes late to an important meeting that Lexa advised him not to miss.
The prince took in a deep breath, and then slowly let it out; a method he used to calm himself. As soon as he did this, Alexander placed two firm hands against the doors and gave them a hard push. They flew open without any resistance, but made a loud booming sound as they collided with the wall. All the royal people in the room halted their conversations, and directed their attentions to Alexander. Every single one of them, besides Lexa and Titus, dropped to their knees at the sight of their prince.
"Please, men, on your feet." Alexander smiled. "Sorry for being late, my Heda." He spoke with repent and a bow of his head.
Lexa pursed her lips disapprovingly before commenting, "You never cease to amaze me with your punctuality."
"It is a gift." The Trikru prince smirked before taking his rightful spot in the chair on Lexa's right side. "So, what is this meeting about?"
Titus cleared his throat and took a step forward. "One of our villages," he explained, "was just massacred. Women and children slaughtered by a boy from Skaikru. His name is Finn."
"And what do we suggest we do with this Finn?" Lexa asked aloud to everyone in the room to hear. Sounds of chattering erupted among everyone in the room.
Alexander pondered over the situation at hand. All the possibilities of what they should do invaded his mind shortly after the information was given.
"I say we kill all of their people!" One of the Royal men yelled out. All the others began to holler with agreement.
Lexa and Alexander shared a familiar look. "Leave us!" The female demanded in a booming voice. It didn't take long for the unwanted men to scurry out of the throne room, and into the common area of the palace. "What do you two suggest we do?"
"I say that we meet with the head of the Skaikru. It could very well be that this Finn character went rogue." Alexander spoke.
Titus nodded, "Very wise of you Alexander. But I would have to disagree. We have to show that we are the top of all the others."
"That sounds like an appealing plan, but what if their army is better than ours? What happens if they kill most of our men?" Alexander fought back while stepping out from behind Lexa's chair.
"That is a risk that we are going to have to take. They haven't been on the ground long. They most likely know very little about the terrain."
"Your ignorance has gotten the best gon yu. Your strat ste kom bring dispair odon our kru." Alexander yelled. His anger had gotten the best of him. Taking a step back, the prince took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. He did not mean to lash out upon his superior like that. "My apologies." He spoke in a sincere tone.
Titus nodded his head. "My boy, you must not let yourself boil over the edge. It will bring you to your downfall."
"Alright." Lexa spoke as she stood from her chair abruptly. "Now that that's over." She clapped her hands once. "I have also devised a plan." She paused. "The two leaders of Skaikru are locked away in one of our prisoner cells. I will spy on them-"
Alexander put his hand out, almost as if to cut her words directly. "When you say spy, do you mean sit in the room or outside the room?"
"Inside. I will be dressed as a peasant and they will be given the option to kill one another."
Titus and Alexander shared a look. "What happens if they refuse?" The elder asked.
"I will slit their throats myself."
Alexander sighed. "Heda, this plan is very risky and extremely dangerous. What happens if they attack you instead?"
"Ai bro, der ste no need kom worry. I will have a knife handy and guards outside the door."
Alexander nodded his head. "Alright. We do it later."

THE TRIKRU PRINCE opened the door to his rather large bedroom, and let out a sigh. His friend, Roman, was sitting on his bed reading a book about ancient Macedonia. His blonde hair cascaded off the side of the bed as he suspended the book in the air above his face. His feet sat upright, and the position all together looked fairly uncomfortable.
"You know," the boy began. "I still find it extremely cool that you were named after Alexander the Great."
Alexander let out a laugh as he walked beside the walls lined in books. His left hand grazed each spine as he passed by. "He wasn't all too great, you know."
Roman lifted his head up and gave his friend a perplexed look. "How so?"
"Well," Alexander said as he jumped and plopped himself onto the bed. "His power was basically handed to him. He took over everything from his father."
Roman sat up and placed the book that preoccupied his hands, to the side of him. "So what, does that make you better than him?"
"I never said that. You don't see me conquering an entire country by the age of twenty-nine."
"In my eyes, I think you're better than him."
"Oh Roman, you're too kind to me." Alexander muttered as he stared at the other male sitting beside him. By now, their faces were only a few inches apart.
"I'd do anything for you, Alex." Roman muttered as he reached his hand up and traced Alexander's face. Him and Lexa were the only people that he let call him Alex.
Roman's words hung in the air as the two simply just looked at eachother with goofy grins on their faces. Alexander reached up and touched the other boy's hand that was still moving across his face. Right after he did this, his other hand grabbed Roman's neck and pulled him in for a kiss. The two made out on Alexander's bed for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
Their moment came to an end when Alexander's door was thrown open. The prince opened his eyes to see Titus standing there, calm as usual. "My apologies for. . . interrupting, sir." The old man spoke. Alexander and Roman shared a look before Titus continued. "Lexa is requesting your appearance in the holding block."
"I will be there in twenty minutes." Alexander spoke. Titus nodded his head and shut the door behind him.
Roman's face had shown a confused expression. "Why twenty?"
"So we can finish what we started."

ALEXANDER WALKED DIRECTLY behind Ryder with his heavy clan armor clinging to his body. Lexa stood behind him, with her servant disguise on. "Hope this works." Alexander muttered through the mask enclosing he lower half of his face. Lexa scoffed, because it was a plan she had come up with herself, and she knew it would come out successful.
As soon as they reached the door to the prison cell, Alexander adjusted the hold on the axe he held across his chest. Ryder pulled the keys from his waist and began to unlock the barred entrance. Alexander noticed how quickly one of the prisoners stood to his feet, while the other stayed seated.
Shorty after the door was open, Ryder and Alexander stalked in and stood tall before the two men. Upon seeing the same prisoner still sitting on the floor, Ryder nodded his head to two other members on trikru. Almost immediately, the two bodyguards began to force the prisoner to his feet. "We came in peace!" The other man bound by chains pleaded.
Alexander's eyes shifted to Ryder, who continuously ignored the prisoner's cries. As soon as they both were on their feet, the cries stopped. Ryder then turned his head slightly and nodded at Lexa. She played it off well as she limped towards the side of the room.
"You speak of peace while you send an assassination into one of my villages." Ryder sneered.
The prisoner on the left, spoke in a confused tone. "What are you talking about?"
"Blood." Alexander boomed.
Ryder, without breaking eye contact with the prisoners, finished, "Must have blood." He then grabbed at the knife tucked into his pants, and revealed the steel weapon. "One of you will die here today. . . by the other's hand. I will hear the terms of your surrender. . . from the man who lives." With the prisoners in a state of confusion, Ryder threw the knife to the floor.
"Fetch us when it's done." Alexander commanded to Lexa.
The grounder men then fled from the cell, and began to play the waiting game.
