Daryl and Darla

"Ain't so bad here huh?" Daryl sat next to you with his hot plate of food.
"Not bad at all." You really meant it, terminus was exactly what you were all hoping for it to be. A normal safe place, with food, water and good people.
All of you sat around a campfire clearly with a look of relief in everyone's eyes. It had been a while since any of you had felt secure.
"Just wish the others would've made it to this." Rick said before pressing his lips together. Daryl gave him a slight nod agreeing with him.
"Well at least we are all here, and we can make the best of it." You tried to brighten up the mood.
"Got that right Darla." Said Daryl before he took a bite of his food.
You and Daryl had been the closest yet had nothing really going on. The two of you became closer to each other when you showed him support after what happened with his brother. Ever since, Daryl made a vow to always be there for you. He did find you attractive and there were times he checked you out, but he never made a move because he didn't want to come off as if he was taking advantage. But shit, it was a hell of a challenge for you to be in his face all the time and him hold himself back.
"Everybody good here?" A tall creepy looking man named Mark asked as he looked down at all of you.
"Yeah we are good, thank you." Answered Rick. The man gave you a look then went on his way.
"That man gives me the creeps." You shivered from goosebumps.
"Why?" Asked Daryl.
"I don't know..he just does."
"Maybe it's just you." Daryl responded.
"Well we're just gonna have to suck it up regardless because those men are being good to us. They didn't have to accept us here you know." Said Carol.
"That's true." Rick agreed. It was true but you still didn't like the feeling you got from him.
The next day you woke up to everyone doing their own thing as usual. You decided to walk over to where Carol was as she took the new clean clothes down from drying. In the process of doing so, you tripped over a stick on the ground and ended up falling face front into a pile of mud.
"Ah!" You shrieked. Everyone turned your way quickly with weapons in hand just incase.
"It's okay it's okay! I just fell. Sorry."
"Damn Darla." You heard Daryl mutter under his breath. When you stood up your shirt was completely drenched in mud. Carol sighed and chuckled as she walked over to you to hand you a plain wife beater.
"Thanks." You smiled and made your way around back where no one was to quickly change.
Daryl suddenly began to notice Mark making his way closer to where you were trying to get a peak and he suddenly lost interest in what he was working on. When you turned you found Mark not to far from you. You gave him a nervous chuckle and walked past him. Daryl stayed watching and saw as he completely eyed you down head to toe from behind, once he caught Daryl watching him he quickly looked away.
"Darla come over here." Daryl called out to you.
"What's up?" You walked over to him and noticed him focused on something behind you. When you turned to see Mark was walking away.
"Everything okay?" You asked him a bit confused.
"Yeah. Just don't get to close to that guy." He whispered in his rough voice.
"Why what happened?"
"Don't trust em." You began to laugh.
"Maybe it's just you." You teased before walking away.
"Hey," he grabbed your arm.
"I'm serious." He looked you dead in the eye.
"O-okay Daryl. " He let go of your arm and went on his way.
A few days had passed and you continued to take Daryl's advice. Aside from Mark being creepy you all liked where you were staying. Plus everything was going good, until one day that is.
All of you decided to sit together for the first time, joining groups for a big dinner. It was their way of showing your group that you were apart of them now. It had been so long since the last time you could remember such a satisfying meal and before you knew it you were finished.
"Oh gosh, I could eat this all day." You put your hand over your stomach.
"Well you can always have seconds. There's enough for everyone. Go right ahead, it's in there." One of the women from the terminal named Mary said. She pointed to what looked like a small trailer sitting in the corner perfectly parked.
"Oh thank you, I appreciate it." You stood up with a smile heading over to the trailer. When you walked in you set your plate down and figured to use the bathroom while you were there, when you suddenly heard a noise from behind. Mark appeared from the drivers seat. Automatically you felt weird and uncomfortable but you didn't want to show it.
"Um hi, I was just gonna use the bathroom quickly." You immediately turned but as soon as you did you heard the sound of the door close. Mark had closed and locked the door of the trailer.
"What are you doing?" You asked with a nervous smile. He didn't say a word. Instead he began to unbuckle his belt and walk closer towards you.
"Wa-wait a minute..." You began to walk backwards but he took a grab of you and before you could scream covered your mouth with his hand. With his free hand he pulled out a knife from his pocket and held it tightly against your neck.
"You make a sound and I'll kill you right here. Try anything and my people will kill your people." You gasped.
"Understand?" He whispered in your ear with a hard pull of your hair. You nodded nervously.
"Good girl." You could feel him smile behind you. That's when he began to pull your pants down. You already knew what was coming, your body froze, your mind froze and you couldn't move. Before you knew it he began to rape you. You stared into the yellow wallpaper in front of you unable to say a word. You could feel him breathing heavily on your neck, groaning in your ear and at one point biting down on your shoulder hard making you wince. You could hear the others outside, laughing telling story's, getting along with one another and you couldn't believe what was happening to you. He held your arms tightly behind you twisting them.
"You're hurting me.." Tears streamed down your face as he whispered disgusting things into your ear and felt up all over your body.
What felt like forever, was finally over. He moaned and kissed the side of your cheek before suddenly pushing you against the counter making your hurt your hip painfully.
"Don't act like you didn't like that." He whispered in your face.
"You tell any of them what just happened and none of your people will have a place to stay, and you will die."
Daryl sat at the table laughing with the others when he noticed you had been gone for a while. He didn't think anything of it until he realized Mark wasn't at the table either and he quickly stood up.
"You alright?" Rick looked up at him concerned.
"Yeah." He mumbled before heading to the trailer. When he tried to open the door it was locked immediately he began to knock, hard.
"Hey open up!" He yelled catching the attention of the others.
"Everything's okay don't worry." Carol told the others smiling nervously.
When the door finally opened Mark came out face to face with Daryl. Daryl stared at him through the strands of his hair covering his eyes until he walked past him and when he did he quickly ran into the trailer. He found you looking a bit shaken up sitting on the couch. You looked like you had just wiped some tears off your face and you couldn't look up at him.
"Everything okay?"
"Did he do somethin?!"
"No! I'm fine I'm fine Daryl. I'm just tired that's all. I'm going to sleep now." You quickly stood up pushing past him not daring to look at him in the eye. He looked down at you as you passed him and could tell something wasn't right.
When he came out of the trailer he saw Mark calmly sitting with the others eating. You had gone into your tent and closed yourself off from the others. He didn't do anything at first, but as the night progressed the situation was eating at him.
That night you could barely sleep constantly waking up. Daryl wanted to check on you but instead let you have your space for the night and went over to talk with Rick.
"Everything alright?" Asked Rick seeing the look of concern in Daryl's eyes.
"Yeah." He muttered. Rick knew everything wasn't alright but he didn't want to push it with Daryl knowing how he was. Instead he gave him a nod and continued making sure his guns were loaded.
"What do ya think of these people?" Daryl suddenly asked.
"I think we're lucky to have found them." Daryl stayed silent.
"Why? Do you think other wise?" Daryl hesitated in response.
"You can tell me if you feel a certain way, I trust your instinct." Rick assured him.
"Just don't trust em. That's all."
"That goes without saying." Said Rick. Daryl agreed and the two went on their way to bed.
The next day Daryl kept noticing how distracted you were. You kept your distance from everyone and kept quiet.
At one point during the day you decided to walk off not to far, but far enough to get some space from everyone. You had a view of all the grass and trees as you began to space out in thought when suddenly you felt a hand on your shoulder. You shook in fright and turned quickly to see it was just Daryl.
"Oh I thought you were..-someone else." He panted.
"Who Mark?" Just the sound of his name made you flinch. You stayed silent and looked away.
"Ya alright?"
"Yeah. I just wanted to get away from everyone for a bit." You crossed your arms, honestly you just wanted to get away from Mark. You had not seen him since the night before.
"Ya want me to go?"
"No." You responded rather quickly.
"Stay." And he did. For the first few minutes the two of you were quiet staring into the field when you decided to sit down. He sat down next to you and looked like he wanted to say so much but didn't.
"Ya like it here?"
"Do I really have a choice." You chuckled, but he looked over at you curiously.
"What cha mean?"
"Nothing. Just joking, I do like it here. Everyone gets along." You looked back to see everyone talking and laughing and you knew for sure you couldn't say anything. You didn't want to ruin this for the others, you all needed a place to stay after all.
"So what's been up with ya? Been real quiet today. Ya know that ain't like ya." He chuckled giving you a playful punch on the hip.
"Ah." You flinched.
"What's wrong?"
"Just got hurt the other day by accident, nothing big." Before he got a chance to say something back Rick called the two of you over. Everyone else who was originally part of the terminal group seemed like decent people, so you continued getting along with them. Mark came and sat on the table with everyone and even gave you a dirty look at one point. The rest of the day you ignored him and soon went to your tent to get some rest.
Late at night there was complete silence besides the crickets being the only thing you could hear. Everyone was asleep and soon you began to drift off. Suddenly you woke up to the sound of someone coming in your tent and when you looked you were relieved to see it was Daryl.
"Couldn't sleep?"
"Nuh." He responded laying down next to you.
"Well don't think I could go back to sleep now since you woke me." You laughed.
"Good I could use some company." He put his hands behind his head.
"Everyone's asleep out there?"
"Yeah. I been up for a while but didn't feel like coming out cause of that nutcase Mark." You stayed silent.
"Probably got no girls before all this shit started now he's miserable." Daryl joked.
"I think he's a sick son of a bitch." He continued.
"Yeah especially after what he did." You responded quickly not thinking before you spoke.
"What cha mean?" He looked over at you confused. He could tell you were now at a loss for words.
"What'd he do?" He now sat up more focused into what you were both talking about.
"Nothing, you're taking it way to seriously." You tried to laugh it off. Daryl scoffed.
"Darla I may not have known ya for long but I know ya enough to know when ya lying." You looked down at your hands and began to fiddle with the covers.
"Darla."
"It's nothing, I don't want to talk about it. That's it."
"No that ain't it. Does it gotta do with the other day?" You stayed silent.
"What'd he do?!" He raised his voiced.
"Daryl!" You whispered afraid the others would wake up.
"Tell me what he did." Your eyes began to tear.
"What do you think Daryl." Your voice shook from the emotions and you looked away. Daryl's face quickly changed and he stood silent for a moment just staring at you.
"He raped ya?" His voice was now very low and clearly furious. You nodded still not able to look at him because of how embarrassed you were. Without saying another word Daryl stood up and ran out of the tent.
"Daryl wait!" You yelled out to him but he ignored you. He ran towards Marks tent and dragged him out while he was half asleep.
"Come here ya little prick!" Daryl began driving his fist in Marks face repeatedly.
"Ya like to rape women huh? Ya like to take advantage?!" Daryl had completely lost it. Everyone woke up and Rick came running out.
"What's going on?!" Rick yelled.
"Tell em what cha did. Tell ya friends what kind of a man ya are." Daryl yelled at him out of breath.
"I fucked your bitch." Mark said with a bloody mouth and Daryl kicked him straight in the face.
"Ah!" He yelled. The others from the terminal pulled out their guns and pointed them all at you, Daryl and Rick.
"These people are crazy!" Mark yelled trying to victimize himself.
"Ya gotta sick guy on your side." Daryl yelled back at the others.
"We're getting outta here." Daryl picked up his belongings and was the first one to walk out. You felt so guilty, as if it was all your fault.
"Let's go." Rick agreed not even fully knowing the story. You picked up your belongings with tears streaming down your face as you walked out with all the others, Rick being last.
"Ya alright?" Rick looked over at you.
"Yes." You lied. Twenty minutes into your walk everyone was completely silent. Carol tried to be supportive by putting her arm around your shoulder. She knew exactly what it felt like to be mistreated and be afraid to say a word. Daryl suddenly turned around in anger.
"Why didn't cha say something!?" He yelled.
"Huh?!"
"I...couldn't-"
"Just leave her alone Daryl. She's had enough for one day." Carol stood in your defense.
"No I wanna know." Daryl insisted.
"I just couldn't! Look at where we are now cause I told you! I didn't want to be the reason we didn't have a place to sleep or food to eat dammit! We have kids here and a baby. I feel shitty enough to be hearing you bitch at me about this!" You cried and yelled. Daryl wasn't expecting you to explode the way you did and stood silent with a look of guilt. The others continued walking clearly realizing the two of you needed to talk privately.
"I ain't mean it...like that."
"It's just...I was right there man. And I ain't stop it."
"That's not your fault." You explained to him. No matter what, he believed different. After a few minutes of silence you took a deep breath and brushed the tears off your face.
"Don't worry bout em. Karma gonna get his ass." You nodded and gave him a sad smile.
"Hey." He lifted up your face with his index finger.
"Ima always be here for ya no matter what ya hear me?" Unexpectedly you grabbed him and hugged him tight. He stood still a bit shocked not knowing what to do.
"Thank you Daryl." When you spoke those soft words in his ear you felt his arms close around your waist.
"Alright don't get all mushy on me now." You began to pull back as he chuckled and for a moment you just stared into his eyes as he did to yours. Slowly your faces began to move closer towards each other when suddenly you felt the very soft touch of his lips on yours. Again you pulled back slowly, he pressed his lips together and smiled lightly before turning and continuing to walk with you and the others.
