Take a deep breath, Sarah thought, as she held the gun in her hand and looked at the target that was standing before her. They had been at the Greene farm for almost a week now, and they had decided that those who wanted it, could be taught how to shoot a gun properly. She closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath and opened them again. When she was sure her gun was aimed at the target, she pulled the trigger. She stumbled back a little as the gun went off and she watched as the bullet went through the air and hit her target perfectly. She had spent most of the morning missing the target, or a little off the target. A small smile appeared on her face, and she turned around to tell Shane, but as she turned around to tell him, he was at the other end of the line-up helping Andrea, and her heart dropped a little. They had been going out for almost 2 years, since before the break-out started, but in the last couple of days, he had become distant to her, and almost the whole group.
"Hey that was a great shot." She heard a voice behind her say, and she tore her eyes away from Shane and turned around and saw Daryl standing behind her. She couldn't help but smile a little. "Here, I'll show you a better way to hold the gun." He said, as he stepped closer, until their bodies were rather close. She could feel her heart beating rather quickly. Ever since Daryl's brother had died, or disappeared, they had gotten closer, and her boyfriend Shane didn't like it, but she knew Daryl needed a friend, and she was more than happy to be there for him. Daryl reached around her, and took her hands in his and lifted her hands so that the gun was pointing at the target. "Now if you hold it like this, you should be able to hit the target better." He commented, as he turned his head to look at her. She could feel him breathing on her neck, but she needed to concentrate. Daryl let go of her and stepped back. "Now pull the trigger." He said, and without hesitation, Sarah pulled the trigger and she didn't stumble backwards. She watched as it hit the target once more, which made her smile.
"Good job babe." She heard someone say and she turned around and saw Shane walking over to her, and without warning, pulled her in close and planted a kiss on her lips. She was a little taken back, and pulled away. Shane looked a little offended, but Sarah looked embarrassed.
"I can't do this right now." She said, and without another word, she put the gun in his hand, turned around and headed back to the main house. She could hear him calling her name, but she ignored him and kept walking. A lot of things were going through her mind at that moment, but the main thing she was thinking about Daryl and how close he had gotten.
"Hey Sarah!" she heard someone call out to her, and she turned around, expecting it to be Shane, but to her surprise it was only Daryl. Seeing him running towards her calmed her down a little. "So, Rick's asked me to go on a run in half an hour. Do you want to come?" he asked, as he adjusted his crossbow over his back. Sarah thought about it for a second. She didn't exactly want to go because she knew that if she did, Shane would get mad, but then again, she didn't exactly care about Shane at that moment.
"Yeah, why not. I'll meet you at Dale's caravan in 20." She said, a small smile appeared on her face. Without saying another word, she turned around and walked back to the camp. She needed to get away, just for a couple of hours, and Daryl was her ticket out.

20 minutes later, she had changed out of her dirty clothes, and dressed in something a little warmer, as the days were getting colder in the afternoon, since winter was coming. As she walked, she adjusted the knife Shane had given her a few months back, in her belt and stood next to Dale's caravan. Daryl joined her a couple of minutes later.
"You ready?" he asked, as he looked her up and down just to make sure she was dressed right for this trip. Sarah nodded her head, and then the two of them headed towards Daryl's bike. The two of them walked in silence, and Sarah couldn't help but feel as though Daryl was acting a little different towards her, like he regretted asking her to go on this run with him. When they reached his bike, he jumped on, and held his hand out for her to take so he could help her on the bike. Sarah took his hand and sat down behind him, and wrapped her arms around his waist, but not too tightly. The bike suddenly came alive, and she held on tight as he took off down the pathway, and she closed her eyes as she felt the wind on her face, and she could feel herself smile. She hadn't felt this free in a long time. The trip to the nearest town had probably taken them at least half an hour, and when they reached the town, she was glad to see that there were hardly any Walkers around.
"So, where are we going first?" she asked, more yelled as she couldn't exactly hear herself properly, even though the bike had been turned off. She glanced at Daryl and saw him smiling to himself. "Sorry, I can't hear myself properly." She explained, as she pointed to her ears, hoping she wasn't yelling again, and Daryl chuckled to himself.
"Rick wants us to try and find some food, mainly canned stuff that we can make last, but anything will do." Daryl said, as he got off the bike, and helped her off. Sarah nodded her head, and the two of them walked towards the first shop. Daryl walked over to the window, and glanced inside. It was rather dark, and he could barely hear anything. He walked over to the door, and slowly opened it up. He couldn't hear anything from inside. "I think we're OK to try in here." He commented, as he walked inside. Sarah followed him inside, grabbing her knife from off her belt and held it tight in case any Walkers attacked them.
"I just realized, we've been friends for a while now, but I still don't know a lot about you." Sarah commented, as she glanced over at Daryl and raised an eyebrow at him, hoping it would get him to open up to her a little. Daryl looked at her, look a little taken aback but then shrugged his shoulders.
"Sure, what do you wanna know?" he asked, and Sarah was a little surprised to hear he was OK with talking about himself. Sarah thought about her first question very carefully. She didn't exactly want to scare him away. Not when she needed a friend the most.
"You ever had a proper girlfriend?" she asked, a small smile playing on her lips. She found a table, walked over to it and sat down on it, crossing her legs over each other, making herself comfy. Daryl looked at her and shook his head. "Really? I mean, I'd go out with you if I wasn't in a relationship." She commented, sounding a little surprised. Daryl looked at her and a frown appeared on his face. This was something she wasn't expecting.
"Why? According to your boyfriend I'm nothing but an uneducated, waste of space re-neck." He commented, as he turned away from her, not wanting to show how made he was. Sarah knew she had hit a nerve. She got up from the table and walked over to him, slipping her fingers through his. This made Daryl turn around.
"Who cares what he thinks. Anyway, I don't think I want to carry on with my relationship with Shane, especially after the way he's been treating everyone these last couple of days." She said, as she reached up and ran her thumb over his cheek. Daryl closed his eyes at the touch of Sarah's thumb. Without thinking she stood on her tip toes, and planted a kiss on his lips. They stood there for a second, and before she knew it, Daryl had wrapped a hand around her neck, and deepened the kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and she could feel her heart beating rather fast.
"We shouldn't be doing this." Daryl commented, as he broke the kiss, and they stood there, clutching each other for a moment, but Sarah didn't care. She had been feeling miserable these last couple of days, and when she was with Daryl, she felt happy, and he made her feel things Shane hadn't made her feel in a long time.
"I'm going to break it off with Shane when we get back. I want to be with you Daryl." She whispered, as she leaned her forehead against his, and she saw a small smile appear on his face, and she returned the smile.
"Me too. Now come on and let's get some stuff." He said, as he planted a small kiss on her nose. Sarah smiled even more, and letting go of each other, they walked around the store, picking up bits and pieces. The whole time, they kept glancing at each other and smiling like idiots. Sarah could not wait to get back to break it off with Shane, so that she and Daryl could be together.
