5.5. Lie
"Sold us a lie."
We lay back down on the grass, looking up at the starry night sky whilst we chatted away with small talk, waiting for Jae to come back.
It had been ages since Jae left but we couldn't check our watches because they had frozen for some reason.
Wait. Our phones...
"Kenz. We left our phones in my room." I sighed.
Kenz's laughter was cut short. She was listening to a joke told by Nathan, and laughing her head off until I interrupted.
"Now we won't be able to take pictures!" She complained, sitting upright and crossing her arms around her flat chest.
Nathan sat up, leaving me to be the only one still laying completely on the grass.
"I still have my phone." He commented, taking his phone out of his grey trouser pocket and waving it a little in the air for us to see.
"Yay!" She cheered, snatching his phone out of his hand and going to take pictures of our surroundings. "Honestly Lexi, I don't know why you don't just go out with him already!" She chuckled.
Nat turned to face me, his smug smile returning. "Yeah Lex. I don't know why either, I mean, last Saturday you seemed to enj-"
"OH LOOK, THE ANGELS ARE BACK!" Interrupting the 'new topic' whilst jumping up to my feet and pointing to the flurry of white that rose from the sides of the island.
Nat just chuckled and stood as Kenz ran towards the angels to ask if she could get a picture of them.
"You really are just like tourists." Amber commented as Nat and I approached her.
"Where's Jae?" Kenz asked as she'd just noticed that only three angels had returned.
"Jae? Oh, the blonde haired boy. You need not worry about him. He said he wishes to continue to help the children, so you should just leave without him. We will send him back when he finishes helping the children." Jewel 'informed' us.
"Oh... but we promised not to leave without him. it would be rude to just leave him here. we don't mind waiting for him." Kenz smiled.
"He did ask for one of you to wait for him whilst the other two go back home." Jaely spoke up, focusing his gaze on us.
"Who did he want to stay behind?" Kenz asked, secretly hoping it was her.
"He asked for the girl with brown hair and green eyes." Jaely responded, his lips curling up at the right side.
I could see the disappointment hit Kenz's face as the words fell from the male angels lips.
"Me? Why?" I asked.
"We do not know why, but maybe the sooner we get to the boy, the sooner you will be able to leave." He smiled, putting his arm over my shoulder.
"Not so fast." Nat grabbed the angels wing and pulled it towards himself, grabbing hold of the angels arms shortly after.
I was left to fall to the grass infront of Nat.
"Didn't you hear me earlier. Wherever she goes I go." Nat replied in a low voice, almost as if he was...
growling?
Jaely tsked in annoyance. "Well your friend asked for her and nobody else. I suggest you let the girl go, or you and I will have a serious problem."
"Well then I guess we do have a problem. Nobody takes her away from me. Not your side bitches, Not Jake and definitely not some angel fuckboy that we just met today. understand?" Nat snarled.
The dark, blood lust filled, aura surrounding him was so thick that it was almost tangible.
'Nat? Calm down, okay?' I thought to him, worried more about the angels safety than his at the moment.
I tried to listen in to his thoughts; to find out what bothered him so much.
His thoughts were so un-organised and loud that all I could make out was 'mine' and 'fuck of'.
Nat's grip on the Angel tightened so much that I could see a bit of blood creep down Jaely's arm from where Nat's nails had pierced him.
Jaely ripped himself free from Nat's hold and as he did so, his wings changed colour.
They were no longer a holy white. No. They were a devilish black.
The same happened with Jewel and Amber.
'Fallen angels...' Kenz thought to herself in awe.
"We were going to let you two leave without any problems, but I guess that will no longer be the case." Amber chuckled, directing her gaze to Nat and Kenz.
"What have you done to Jake?!" Kenz questioned.
"We've taken him. The other angels will use his magical energy to keep our islands floating. You, however." Jewel turned to look at me. " You were chosen by Jaely. You must stay and become his third mate. It is a great honour for you. A mere human, becoming a mate for an angel. It is almost unheard of." Jewel replied.
She was no longer the nice Jewel I had trusted, but instead a malicious woman who shook me to my core.
Nat growled again.
Seriously, I'm going to need to talk to him about this whole growling thing.
"And what if I don't want to be an angels mate?" I asked.
"This is a great honour for you. You should, and will, take it; wether you like it or not." Amber replied, rolling her eyes in iritance.
"Well. What about a trade?" I asked.
Nat and Kenz eyed me suspiciously.
Nat's eyes looked weird...
Maybe it was the atmosphere, or the stars or something... but it was like they had changed from the normal blackish Brown, to...
gold?
"I'm listening." Jaely replied.
"What if you let my friends, including Jake, go back home and I'll stay here." I replied.
Apparently for Nat that was the wrong answer.
He had lifted me to my feet and wraped his arms around my waist tightly in a matter of miliseconds.
Seriously, it was inhumaly fast.
"It seems that he doesn't like that idea." Jaely chuckled.
"I don't but I have a better one. How about you get to keep Jake. And we leave." Nat's words hadn't even fully sunk in before he grabbed Kenz and ran of the edge of the island.
"I guess we're going down." Kenz sighed.
