I sputtered as we reached the surface. Coughing to get the water out of my throat and my eyes frantically searched for land.

I could swim, but not whilst I was choking.

'Lex. Calm down.' Nat called out.

'Calm down?! I can't breathe! How can you te-'

That bastard.

I pushed him away from me. Removing his lips from my own. Even if I may drown, is rather that than my current predicament.

I glared at him. I didn't need to form any coherent thoughts for him to know that I was not impressed.

'You needed air, no? I gave you some of mine.' He replied as if it was the most... normal... thing to do.

((A/N: I got both a GaLe moment AND made a pun of the story. APPLAUD ME.))

'I didn't need air! I just needed to get rid of the water in my m-'

You'd think that the punk tried to kiss me again to call me down.

No. That did not happen.

Instead my mouth met something else. The water. I was sinking.

I tried to swim, but for some reason... I couldn't.

'Lex!' Nat called it to me, swimming towards me and putting me on his back again.

'Go to the edge ocean eyed freak.' I demanded him.

He began to swim once again but still felt the need to make conversation.

'Ocean eye'd freak? I'm sure there was something about Ocean eyes being played at the new years party... and it made them out to be nice then. But I guess you like 'original Nat', no?'

Ocean eyes?

I remember that song. I heard it the day after Nat left. The song conferred me when I felt an underlying sadness.

At the time I didn't know why I was upset, but since I got my memories back, I do.

'The blue eyes look better. It makes me feel happy to know that you almost got killed by an angel.' I replied snarkly.

He huffed in iritance.

'I wouldn't have been in that position of you weren't about to be killed by the same Angel, in the same way. He's not slowed to take what's mine.' Nat stated proudly.

I scoffed at his response. Letting one of my legs sway in the ocean that surrounded us.

'And what exactly is yours?' The feeling of water down my throat had now disappeared, leaving only the feelings of sarcasm and snark.

'You.' He stated it as if it was the most obvious fact ever known. Almost as obvious as breathing.

'I don't belong to you.' I retorted, slapping him in the back of his head.

He didn't budge, but the animalistic thoughts of 'mate' and 'mine' slowly began to rise in his mind once again.

'Whether you like it or not Lex. You are mine.'

I'd given up trying tell him otherwise. It would be a waste of my breath. We just continued to make out way to the edge of the floating ocean island in silence.

Well, not complete silence. May had gotten the song Ocean eyes stuck in my mind so that's all I could think of, making it almost the background music for our journey.

Then something came to my mind.

'How did you know that we were gonna land in water?' I questioned.

'What do you mean?' He responded.

'I couldn't see the water untill seconds after you mentioned it. And I doubt that it would have been easy to recognise even then.' I added.

'I smelt the water.' He answered simply.

'You expect me to belive that you could smell the water from all the way up in the sky?' I questioned.

He shrugged his shoulders.

'The same way I expect you to belive that we are close to the edge and that perv is on the island below us.' He replied

...

'I don't believe you know. You're just guessing.' That was probably what he was doing.

Guessing and expecting me to think he's some kind of genius with hightened senses.

Yeah? Well there is some kind of barrier at the edge that is keeping the water from spilling over. It might be glass because I can't see it, but I can't hear and waterfall sounds either.' He replied.

I didn't believe him. Not untill we came to an abrup stop at the edge.

The water wasn't over flowing, and I couldn't see a barrier either.

Nat touched the glass, and I followed suit. Just to make sure he wasn't pranking me.

'Do you belive me now?'

'Slightly'

I felt up the glass untill I found the top, just above my head.

Nat lifted me up future till I could sit on top of the glass. It was thick enough that I could crawl on it, like a walkway.

'Why would angels even want a swimming pool? Wouldn't it wet their wings and stop them from flying?' I asked, helping Nat up.

'In not an angel. Why would I know?' He replied.

'I don't know. I thought the devil would know about his enemy.' I retorted.

'Funny.' His single sarcasm filled comment was the last before we jumped down and landed on the eighth island.

The grass was dark, and there were piled of boulders dotted around the area, along with dead trees.

We began to walk and I stepped into a puddle of what looked like black icy water.

I didn't think much of the puddle untill I noticed my shoe dissolve into nothing.

'Nat. Don't step in the black puddles.' I warned him.

He looked from my face to my shoeless foot that was hovering above the puddle I stepped in moments ago.

He nodded. 'You alright?'

'Yeah.' I replied. Putting my foot on the ground and walking around the puddle to continue.

'The perv is close. Are you sure we should actually rescue him though? He got himself into this mess..' Nat voiced.

'You may not like him. But I do. Just like you and Kenz, he is my friend and i won't leave a friend behind.' I stated, as I continued to walk.

'That's stoic and all... but even if I can smell him... he's also surrounded by the smell of that-'

'JAE.' I gasped.

Tied to a beam under kiloliteres of black water and with a thick top coating of black ice...

I'm pretty sure if he's been down there so long...
