Chapter 11
"I'm back, everyone!" Tsubaki announced. "Welcome back, Master." A man wearing an eyepatch greeted. "Hey, who's this little girl?" An old man with red hair asked as Tsubaki still held me in his arms. I stared at the old man with a black face before holding out two fingers in a V shape.
"Poke." I said, poking him in the eyes with my fingers. "Ow! You little brat! What was that for?!" He yelled, in which Tsubaki laughed. "She's just adorable, isn't she?" He said. "Eiko?" I looked past the old man, spotting Sakuya.
"Hi, Sakuya." I greeted, casually. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "I don't know. Tsubaki said, he was kidnapping me." I said. "Huh?!" Sakuya yelled. "Are you the one who is dating the Master?" The guy with the eyepatch asked.
"I didn't know we were officially dating. Tsubaki, you can put me down now." I said. "Aww... Just let me hold you like this a little while longer. Pretty please?" Tsubaki pleaded. "But your subclass is watching. It just feels weird." I admitted.
"How did you know we were his subclass?" Belkia asked. "Uh-oh, she knows our secret. That's a problem." A girl said. "Don't worry, it's fine. She won't do anything. Allow me to introduce you to my friends, Eiko. As you already know, this is Belika and Sakuya. And this is Shamrock, Otogiri, and Higan." Tsubaki introduced.
"It's nice to meet all of you." I said. Tsubaki set me down on my feet and I waved to them. "Strange." I mumbled. "What is it, Eiko?" Tsubaki asked. "For a second... I thought I heard my uncle's voice. Uncle Lawless." I said.
"Eiko, could you come with me for a second? There's some things we need to discuss." Tsubaki said. "What sort of things?" I asked, emotionlessly. "Just come with me." He smiled.
I followed Tsubaki as we walked down the hall. "What did you want to talk to me about, Tsubaki?" I asked. "Eiko, I haven't been completely honest with you." He said. I raised a brow at him while staring at him, emotionlessly. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"You know all of your family members, don't you?"
"Of course I do. There's Sleepy Ash of Sloth, Old Child of Pride, Doubt Doubt of Envy, The Mother of Wrath, Lawless of Greed, World End of Gluttony, and All of Love of Lust. The Mother of Wrath is my mother, and the rest are my uncles."
"Yes... But did you ever learn about your seventh uncle?"
"My seventh... uncle?"
"You never knew, did you?"
"No... Mother never told me I had a seventh uncle."
"That uncle... is me. I'm your uncle, Eiko. I am the eighth and youngest Servamp known as Who is Coming of Melancholy. I'm sorry for keeping the truth from you. I'm so, so sorry."
He turned away from me so his back was facing me. I walked over to him, placing my hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to apologize, Uncle Tsubaki. It's not your fault." I said, trying to comfort him. "That's not what I'm talking about, Eiko." He said.
I raised a brow in confusion. "What do you mean?" I asked. "I should've told you that I was uncle in the first place. But at the same time, I wish I hadn't had told you." Tsubaki said. "Uncle Tsubaki, I don't understand what you're trying to say." I said.
"I... I fell in love with my own niece." He confessed. I blushed madly as steam came out of my ears. "Pardon?" I asked. "I fell in love with you, and I wasn't supposed to." He said. "Um..." I trailed off as I went to tap is shoulder to say something.
"Aaaahhh! What was I thinking? I'm her uncle! An uncle can't fall in love with their own niece! I mean, sure, they can love them, but not in that kind of way!" He said. I stared at him with a deadpan expression as he began to rant.
"Uh... Uncle Tsubaki...?" I said. "Huh? Oh. Sorry, Eiko. I forgot you were here. My bad." He said as he smiled with embarrassment. "Oh, Uncle..." I closed my eyes with a sigh while shaking my head. When I opened my eyes, I saw my mother.
"Mommy will be back soon, Eiko. In the meantime, be good to your uncles. I'll be back as soon as I can. Mommy loves you."
"Then, why? Why did you leave me? What did I ever do to make you abandon me? Why..." I trailed off as I lowered my head, tears escaping my eyes. "Eiko? What's the matter?" Uncle Tsubaki took my chin and made me look at him.
"I'm sorry, Eiko. I didn't mean to make you cry." He apologized. I quickly hugged him as more tears began to escape.
"It's not that, Uncle Tsubaki. I'm just... really sad right now. My mother abandoned me at a young age, and I've waited so long for her to come back to me, but... she never did." I said, hugging him tightly.
"Oh... My poor Eiko. I'm so sorry," Tsubaki hugged me back. "Don't worry, my niece. I'll take care of you. Everything's going to be okay now." He said, gently. "What... do you mean?" I asked as I started to feel dizzy.
"I'm your family now. Why don't you just... forget about everything? Forget..."
When he said that word, I thought I heard his voice echo. "For... get...?" I repeated. "That's right. Forget, Eiko. Forget everything." I felt a little dizzy as everything looked and felt fuzzy. "But I... can't forget... about Mikuni..." I trailed off as I closed my eyes and leaned against Uncle Tsubaki.
Tsubaki's POV
I smirked down at my niece as she passed out against my chest. "There, there, my little Eiko. I'll take care of you. I won't allow you to get hurt again. From now on, it'll be just the two of us with my subclass." I said.
