1 month later

Jake, Rich, Chloe, and Brooke all jumped up and down to the loud music coming from the stage.

In the last month Jake had gone through many lessons; normal kid school, they called it. How to dress, how to act, how to deal with drama, etc. They almost thought about giving him a ‘How to be popular’ lesson, but realized that if Jake was their friend, he would become popular immediately (if the fact he was a prince wasn't enough). He still had a few things he needed to work on, but mostly he was ready (personality wise). Now all they had to do was teach him the facts- and there was a lot to teach.

He had become exceptionally close with the three teenagers that had only come not so long ago- to him it felt like they had been there forever. Rich had become his best friend: they did everything together when Brooke and Chloe weren't around, or even when they were. Jake had soon established that Brooke and Chloe had been bestfriends since a young age, and this made a lot more sense to him. Rich said he had only had few close friends (Brooke and Chloe included) and lots of ‘friends’, but never one so close it could be ranked as ‘best’. He said it was the price of being popular and that he didn't mind, but Jake was almost sure he did.

They (meaning all four of them) usually went to all sorts of outings. Whether it was normal shopping, a concert (where they were now) or something else, they always had fun and did it often.

But whenever he was around friends, he would ponder the same lesson he had been taught.

Dating, crushes, and sex.

They had told him that eventually he'd find a hot girl (or guy, if he swung that way. Which would be fine, believe me.) that he'd like more than other- one that he'd want to have sex with. They said that by now, he should have at least found one person.

But he never had. He had never felt that way towards someone. Or maybe he had, but he wasn't realizing it.

But was there actually a chance that the one person he liked (if he happened to like anyone) would actually like him back? Out of all the people that person would like, why would they choose him? The idea of soulmates and true love made him laugh- he wasn't doubting its existence, just the likeliness that he would ever find it.

Now see, back to the present.

At this very concert here, Jake was pondering this exact thought. Perhaps you could say it was the music- the words leaking inside his brain and filtering his thoughts with every lyric. Maybe it was the way couples were spread all over, enjoying the music happily.

He didn't exactly know, but he was thinking about it whether he wanted to or not.

“I love this song!” A voice yelled over the loud music from below him. He snapped out of his thoughts and looked down at Rich, his blonde hair bouncing up and down with him. They were all wearing matching crop tops- well, except for Jake, who refused to wear one.

“Uh, yeah! Me too.” Jake nodded, turning his head back towards the stage. Rich's gaze lingered on Jake for a second before fading away and back on the people performing.

At one point in his thinking stage, Brooke and Chloe had gone off to get some good for them, leaving just Jake and Rich. It had gone to an intermission, so they sat down on the blanket below them.

“I love Fall Out Boy so much.” Rich grinned, crossing his legs.

“Me too. That's why we're here.” Jake chuckled, making Rich's expression turn soft.

“Oh. Right. Hah.” Rich said, his voice gentle and almost quiet.

Jake nodded, a little suspicious, before looking around for Chloe and Brooke. They came back, giggling like mad men and holding four.. beers? Rich cheered and ran up to Brooke, grabbing one quickly.

“Woah. How'd you get these?” Rich smirked, sitting down and taking a sip.

“They just-” Brooke giggled. “-gave them to us!”

Jake furrowed his brows and took a sip of the one Chloe had handed him. He didn't really like the taste, but he didn't think you were supposed to.

It seemed as Chloe and Brooke had already drank a lot, as they were noticeably tipsy.

“D-did you hear the news about Madeline?” Chloe slurred, her face turning into an exaggerated shock.

“Y-yeah! It was so awesome.” Brooke grinned.

“Brooke!” Chloe yelled.

“I mean- slutty! S-sorry.” Brooke shook her head.

“Jesus.” Jake mumbled, turning to Rich. “Anyway- oh shit.”

It looked like Rich had already.. chugged his beer. The cup was laying empty on the ground and he was sitting there, holding his knees and giggling. Jake frowned and put his own beet aside, picking Rich up and sitting him in his lap.

“N-no! Let go of meee!” Rich shouted, squirming under his grasp. Jake, being the savage mom friend he is, rolled his eyes and tightened his grip. Rich eventually gave up, sighing and relaxing into Jake.

Chloe and Brooke were whispering about something quietly, glancing at their phones every so often. Jake didn't bother trying to contain them, because they didn't exactly drink too much. They had eventually gone up to the front to dance (yes, it was one of those concerts on lawns.), leaving Jake and Rich behind.

Rich looked like he was about to fall asleep, so Jake just let him, singing along to the band softly. After a while, the concert had come to an end, and Chloe and Brooke had come back to the blanket. Jake stood up carefully, holding Rich bridal style so he could stay asleep.

“He's gonna be so hungover in the morning…” Jake frowned, and Brooke (the less tipsy one, you could say) nodded in agreement.

“Yeah.. let's take him back.” Brooke picked up the blanket and grabbed the giggling Chloe's wrist. They started walking back to the car, carefully setting Rich in the passenger seat and placing the blanket over him.

They stayed quiet the whole ride, not wanting to wake Rich up. The radio was on softly in the background, only playing slower songs. See, Jake was pondering the thoughts again.

Mostly because every so often he couldn't help but look at Rich.

Sorry this is so short hahah..
