"Norma, hey! Norma! I know you can hear me, why aren't you answering?"

Freaking Penny. She's been following me around for days now, since the grandma thing.

"Leave me alone, Penny. It's been a week, find a new joke already." I sighed and stopped at my locker to grab my science textbook. Fortunately, none of Emily's friends are in honors Bio, so I had 90 minutes to myself.

"But I want to talk to you, and you're ignoring me, and we don't have many classes together, and I've gotta ask you something, and-"

"Shoot or shut up, I'm getting tired of listening to you."

"Okay, thanks, good. I was gonna ask you... I forget now, but it was... oh! I was going to ask if you wanted to come to my house or see a movie on Friday."

"And?"

"Well," she began. "Wait. And what?"

"You said you were going to ask me, but I didn't hear a question so I assume something else happened. Sorry not sorry, I have to go to class now. Good riddance, Penny!" With that, I strode cheerfully into Biology.

Damien had saved me a seat next to him and across from Lydia. "Hey guys," I said as I sat down. "What's up?"

"Your BMI," Damien said nonchalantly at the same time as Lydia said "The ceiling."

"Very clever, both of you," I said smiling. "Hey, what are you guys doing on Saturday?"

"I'm pretty much-" Lydia was interrupted by the loudspeaker.

"Norma McCann, please report to the main office. Again, Norma McCann to the main office."

"Ooooooooh," the class said in unison.

"Yeah yeah, I'm probably being deported or something. Bye."

What was I called down for? I didn't forget anything, and even if I had, nobody would drop it off for me; my mom works from eight in the morning until six. Probably the nurse wants to see me.

Marching down the halls, I busied myself with plans for the weekend. Lydia was free, but Damien hadn't answered when I left. If it's just the two of us we could do a girls night and go to dinner, but if Damien isn't busy we can get lunch and go to a bookstore. Honestly, I hoped Damien would be busy.

Then again, lunch sounds pretty good around now.

Finally reaching the office, I sat down in one of the stiff blue plastic chairs they had lined up. After a minute, Mrs. Breen came over to the front desk and smiled at me. "The guidance counsellor will see you now, dear. You can go right in over there." She pointed out a door in the back of the office.

"Thanks," I said, a bit confused. Had someone made an appointment in my name by mistake? I haven't been to the guidance counsellor before, so I wasn't sure how it worked.

"Jeez," I muttered as I walked in. "So that's where all our funding went."

Cushy couches galore, a full-sized refrigerator, and a large television dominated the room. In the far corner was a decently sized secretary desk with a woman seated in a spinny chair behind it.

"Hello, Norma."

Haha, a cliffhanger!
Well, sort of.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter, and please comment your thoughts!
