Reaction: I think I just died inside

Now I'm gonna say something. For the first time I actually cried over this dub. It sounds so bad. Like, how could a dub be this bad?! Why did Funimation do this to me?! It's not- it can't be- I better accept it. It's real ;~; and I'm crying in disappointment. I had such high hopes.

I OF COURSE HAVE MY REASONS

1) Yato sounds so...old. And not as confident. What was the voice actor thinking? Yato obviously has a big and outgoing personality so why the hell does he so shy and reserved?! He can't talk as fast and he sounds slow and old. Just sayin'.

2) Hiyori doesn't sound bad. She's fine.

3) Mayu/Tomone sounds fine and she's not a character that I extremely care about how her voice sounds, so I guess I don't really care.

4) Yukine is yet to be introduced.

As far as I know only the first two episodes are out on dubbed so I don't know what the rest of the cast sounds like.

5) Hiyori's Mom sounds like a man xD I couldn't stop laughing.

The reason I was crying was really because of Yato's voice. He really decided if this was a good sub or not and he sounds bad so everyone else is automatically bad ;~;

My favorite anime actually has a bad dub ;~; The reason that's bad is because newcomers to the anime will obviously choose to watch it in dub first before even checking out the subbed voices.

I miss my Hiroshi Kamiya ;~;

I was going to post this, but then I thought to myself how awful I would feel if the VA's read this. I just want to say that it's not that they're bad at voice acting, it's that their voices don't fit the characters. In my opinion, what the VA for Yato did was not how I personally would've portrayed his personality and it's not how I want people to perceive him as.

He is extremely goofy and confident and likes to tick people off. He's also very nice and doesn't require much so he'll do lots of things for extremely low pay. He cares a lot about Hiyori and is actually pretty smart because of the way he showed Yukine how to be a good shinki or regalia if you watch the anime. The English voice makes him sound like a shy person who doesn't have a good sense of humor and is kind of a push over.

I know that the VA's are actors and not impressionists, so I'm not upset that they don't sound the same. I'm upset because their voices changed their personalities into something that I don't believe they are.
