beating 2023 by 10,000 minutes LMAO.

567 minutes is almost 9.5 hours... i'd love to say i don't know what i was doing on june 6th to be listening to that much music but actually, i'm pretty sure i had the day off work and i spent it planning and making graphics for my agggtm fic. lmao. i must've had music playing from the moment i woke up until basically the moment i went to bed??? wild.

this actually makes so, SO much sense.

idk what i was doing in april (sounds like i was living my best life lol) but june was when winter started (among a couple of other things) and that's just cue for me to listen to sad depressing folk music. i love it. and then in september i really started to listen to my instrumentals playlist when i was reading!

out of 1,470 songs, these were my top 5! (and mind you, 4/5 of these songs were only released in june/july lol)

for the second year in a row, my man noah reigns! my longest listening streak for noah was 19 days. in his little artist clip he said "if you're listening to this message it's because you went through something traumatic this year" (lol) & then he also said "if you're an emotionally stable person and you're listening, i would consider listening to something else" — this could be niche but that reminds me sooo much of a series of unfortunate events by lemony snicket... iykyk?

gracie and sabrina being on here is a no brainer tbh! i listened to the secret of us and short n sweet on repeat (and still do) & hozier makes sense to me too! i love putting all of his music on shuffle because the vibes are just too good.

the only song of taylor's that was in my wrapped (and by that i mean the playlist with your top 100 songs of the year) was "us" by gracie abrams FEAT. taylor swift lol. don't get me wrong, i love her songs sm but i think she's probably only on here for the sheer enormity of songs she has, if that makes sense?

overall, apparently i listened to 521 artists this year. not that anyone asked for it, but i managed to find my top 20 artists (it involves a bit of guesswork but if you go to an artist who you think might be up there, click "..." and "share" it should come up!) so... here they are...

not bad! almost as much as 2023, though not quite. i did improve my comment game though... from 1 to 2! (going for 3 this year lmao)

the spike at the start of the year is absolutely valentine's day because i watched upgraded, anyone but you, set it up, and then upgraded, again, all in the one day. lmao.

i had surgery in july and i didn't really feel up to watching movies whilst i was recovering (and also leading up to the surgery, either) so the middle chunk of the year is a bit sparse!

and the film resurgence towards the second half of the year is likely all the movies i watched for spooky season + then christmas!

i'm not even gonna apologise for rewatching knives out that many times. i love it. i will say, anyone but you rewatch count is a bit rouge though lmao. but i stand by it — i had a blast every time idc.

bonus: the first movie i watched in the cinema was anyone but you, and the last movie i watched in the cinema was wicked!

my fav movies i watched for the first time in 2024 were probably challengers and wicked.

the movies coming out in 2025 that i'm most looking forward to are now you see me 3 and wake up dead man: a knives out mystery. advance warning, i will be making them both my whole personality. y'all aren't prepared.

2024 in... BOOKS

i had a goal of reading 22 books, and clearly, i surpassed it... with 30 books?! oh, she's crazy. the last few years i've barely got to 10 books let alone thrice that amount!

the first book i read was: icebreaker by hannah grace. technically, i read most of this one at the end of 2023 and let it tick over to 2024 so i could add it to my stats, lol. the first full book i read was everyone on this train is a suspect by benjamin stevenson.

the last book i read was: everyone this christmas has a secret by benjamin stevenson.

(more benjamin stevenson... i promise i read more books than just him lmao) (but this book, fool me twice, was so cool. it's in tête-bêche format, so there's two crime novellas that are bound together at a 180° angle so you basically read one and then flip the book upside down and there's a new book waiting for you! hopefully that makes sense...)

but i love statistics! here's a couple more:

• my average time to finish books was 12 days;
• average book length was 418 pages;
• my busiest month for reading was december with 5 books;
• least busiest month was march with 1 book;
• & lastly, out of the 30 books, 19 were physical books and 11 were on my kindle!

(btw i bought my kindle in february and i'm soooo in love with it!)

yup, no surprises here!

1. holly jackson my beloved! i ADORED reading a good girl's guide to murder. i also read five survive (in the span of 8 hours, as god intended) which was so good too even though it felt a bit like a fever dream afterwards lol. i've also bought the reappearance of rachel price and i'm looking forward to reading that sometime in 2025!

2. i started reading the throne of glass series by sarah j. maas (up to bk4 queen of shadows rn) in the second half of the year and i imagine as i continue reading them (+ maybe acotar) she'll be high up in my stats for 2025 too.

3. out of icebreaker, wildfire, and daydream by hannah grace (i read all of them throughout the course of the year), wildfire is my favourite!

4. i reread six of crows (and i'm tempted to do it again soon) and then read king of scars and rule of wolves by leigh bardugo. i wasn't sure about some parts of kos initially but when i tell you, by the end of row i was ON THE FLOOR. sold. might have to reread those ones soon too tbh.

5. lastly, i met benjamin stevenson at a book event a couple of months ago and he signed like 4 of my books lol! he was great. he's also a comedian i believe, so his books are interwoven with a comedic tone and it makes for such a great read. he writes thriller/murder mystery books, and i'd definitely recommend reading everyone in my family has killed someone and its following books. it's even set in australia!

my fav book i read for the first time was probably the song of achilles (don't talk to me, i'm still crying).

i'm so proud of myself ngl! i've set my 2025 reading goal as 25 books, which i think feels achievable for me whilst also being somewhat of a challenge. the book i'm most looking forward to is sunrise on the reaping by suzanne collins (!!!!!!!!) and also maybe onyx storm by rebecca yarros. though there are so SO many books sitting on my shelf that i haven't read yet, and i should probably read those first hmmmm.
