Chapter 9

--Previously--

I sighed, looking outside. Only 4:45pm and it was already going dark. Though, the season would explain everything. I watched as all the cars passed by, trying to see if I could spot Dib and Gaz anywhere. As expected, I didn't find much. All except for Zim running across the street. I perked up at that.
Just where was he off too..?

I narrowed my eyes, continuing to stare at the running figure. Zim seemed like he was in such as rush, and apparently so was I since I was so eager and interested to know where he was heading. Briskly, I put on my shoes and coat. I called out to my Dad and told him that I'd just be going on a walk to clear my mind. After that, I left the place.

All in all, I was surprised to see that Zim hadn't completely ran off. He was still in plain sight. Was he heading this way? He stopped in his tracks, but never looked back. A short while after, he started sprinting again. I followed Zim, latching onto a pair of my Dads old binoculars I found in the hallway. The boy turned into a dark alley way, and from there I grew even more suspicious.
I narrowed my eyes again. Why and what is he doing there? I contemplated going there for a split second, before deciding to take the risk anyway. I stared at Zim from the shadows, to which I admit was creepy. But what was about to happen was a lot scarier than I anticipated.

He took of his wig, a set of antennae peeped out from underneath. My eyes widened as I began to watch more secrets being revealed. I then saw him reach towards his eyes, looking like he was going to poke them out. Obviously that was not at all any intention of his. Zim pulled out his contacts, then I immediately saw a pair of glowing eyes staring right into my soul. Dib was right. The said 'alien' heard a gasp from my mouth, so he faced the noise in surprise. His ruby red eyes widened, seeing as he was caught by another human. One that was known by him. That was even worse!

In an instant, I saw that he had vanished. Either this was just a hallucination or he could really get away that fast. At least I thought he was gone. But I never bothered to check around me, nor did I even think he was still here. I was just in so much shock that I couldn't even process anything around me. That left me deaf to the small but quick steps behind me. Then before I knew it, I passed out.

Zim, impatiently waiting for me to wake up, eventually got bored. So he decided to use his fingers to open my eyelid. The irken looked right into my eye, which was almost (to his view) completely white. He seemed almost creeped out to find that half of my iris was looking right into my skull. He let go of my eyelid then grabbed a notepad and pen. Then, he wrote down this piece of unimportant information whilst waiting for me to wake up.
Because he had done this, my eye became dry. Thus, resulting in my awakening. I blinked several times, trying to get used to the very bright light above me. It didn't take the Irken long to notice that I was awake, so he smirked evilly and walked at a pace over to me.

"You're just like Dib, very nosy." Zim said, sounding very displeased. He crossed his arms and shook his head in disappointment. The Irken looked over to the other two people I had failed to notice he had captured. I almost shedded a tear when I saw Dib and Gaz were strapped to these... machines...
And only just now had I noticed that I was strapped to one too, only I didn't feel the same fear for myself than I did for Dib and Gaz. In fright, I struggled to get my words out,.
"Zim..!? This can't be real-!" Right as I said that, I felt a powerful hit on my cheek. I tried my best to hide the pain in that hit, while I may have shed a tear.
"Oh, this is very real, (Y/N)." Zim said, smirking maliciously. The quiet but dark tone in his voice and his actions made me feel very uncomfortable. And I don't think I failed to notice that. Zim crept towards me, and I could make out the panic in Dibs muffled voice. Gaz was freaked out too for once. "What are you and the Dib-Stink planning!?"

I felt confused at this question. But the clock was ticking and every second that passed, Zim grew even more furious at my silent answer. The bossy, irritated Irken raised his voice,
"ANSWER ME, I SHALL NOT BE IGNORED!!" This gave me sudden fright, so I immediately answered back to him,
"We aren't planning anything..!"
Just then, Dib started mumbling some words, or at least trying to get words out of his mouth. Zim rolled his eyes and walked up to him, taking of the mask that was tied around his mouth.
"Let us go, Zim!!" Shouted Dib. The nerd spat at his feet, hoping for some reaction. He earned that, and freaked out, screeching,
"EW!! FILTHY GERMS!!" Zim kept spinning around, wiping his outfit down and making sure that he didn't get 'infected' by whatever disease he may have thought that Dib had.

I doubted that he'd let us go after that. But Dib basically saved me back there. Gaz stayed silent the whole time. As soon as Dib spat at his feet, Gaz smiled a little, entertained by Zim's funny reaction. All while this went down, I thought about any possible way of escape. Then one thought came to mind. The alien wasn't very smart, so I figured he'd listen to any dumb thing I had to say. I was still scared, so I thought of a deal we could make.
"Zim!" I tried to get his attention. The Irken spun around and paced over to me, letting me speak. "Please let us go! Listen, you're in danger. My Dad's a journalist and suspects you aren't human, so he'd do anything just to prove his point. As his daughter, I could try and stop him from doing that."
"Oh please! Like he could ever have a chance of catching Zim without a disguise!" Zim said with all self confidence. I sighed.
"It's not a very good one, Zim. And think about what happened earlier. If I managed to catch you without any disguise by just walking down the street then it'd make it a lot easier for my Dad to do so. He'd have proof as well."

Zim never took this into consideration, but nevertheless he agreed, suspecting that he was in massive danger. And that wasn't wrong. The Irken really had no choice at this point if he didn't want his cover blown and shared throughout the public. So, with regret afterwards, Zim sighed and began to untie me.
"Human, I accept this deal. But if you don't contribute, I will find you!!" After me being untied, I pointed a finger towards the others. Zim sighed once again in annoyance and went to untie them both. And after that, we said are goodbyes and left, as if nothing ever happened. But instead of meeting at Zims house tomorrow, we'd meet at Dib's house.

Worriedly, Dib hugged me, even Gaz joined in. By the time we were out, it was already 8pm. Gosh, my Dad must've been so worried! 'Speaking of parents, where is Professor Membrane!?' I thought out loud.
"He was spending the day out. Said he'd be back by nine." Gaz finally spoke. I only replied with an 'oh' before the siblings walked me back to my place. After that, I waved goodbye and wished them safe travels back to their home, which was only 5 minutes away anyway.

Suddenly, the door slammed shut and a tall shadow projected from behind my silhouette. I turned around in surprise as I heard a not-so-pleased tone from none other than my Dad.
"Where have you been...!?"

Dib's POV:

When we got home, me and Gaz stayed in my room. I shut my curtains and closed the windows. I made sure that my door was also closed and left the bedroom light on. Freaked, I said,
"Gosh, I've never seen him so... intimidating before..."
"You're reaction was pathetic." Gaz commented. She only had me rolling my eyes when she said that.
"We'll just stay here until Dad gets back. Then, I'll-"
"Keep your mouth shut, Dib. It's not like he'll believe us anyway." Said Gaz, sounding a little disappointed. "It's just best to pretend like nothing happened. Just like we always do."
None of us wanted to agree with that statement, we just wanted our Dad to believe us. But no matter how many times we tried, Professor Membrane was too blind to even think of something so crazy, despite how real it was. Unfortunately for us, we couldn't do or say anything about it, no matter how dangerous the situation was.

So tomorrow, we were back to normal.
