Chapter 7

--Previously--

The project would be held at Zim's house, as Dib requested. Zim kept shaking his head but then smirked at something. After that, he allowed us there. I was suspicious of that sly smirk the irken gave and wondered what he was up to. I hate to say it, but I'm with Dib on this one...

I guess we'd find out what Zim was planning after school...

Dib's POV:

We all agreed to meet at Zim's place by 4 pm, which left me some time to get ready. With Gaz by my side, we both entered the house in
complete and awkward silence like we always do. From the kitchen, I could hear chanting. The voices of 2 boys, one of them being my dad. He seemed to be talking to a friend of his and embarrassing me again.
"He also thinks a certain kid from school is an alien! Complete nonsense!" They both chuckled.
"Your son has a wild imagination..." Said the other man, questioning his beliefs at the moment. He wasn't big on science and believed more in the paranormal. Plus, he had a wild imagination too. The father didn't know whether to talk to me about his thoughts on whoever that boy was, he needed to get something interesting on the paper. I could help him with that.

"Hey Dad, hey Mr (L/N)! What's going on?" I asked, a shy grin on my face. I tried to seem oblivious to the part of their conversation I heard, it seemed to work well.
"Oh nothing, don't you worry son!" Professor Membrane chuckled. Mr (L/N) didn't know whether to talk to me just yet about the whole 'alien' situation. Believe it or not, (D/N) was no scientist, he was more of a believer guy like me. I mean, he didn't discover the reality of Santa Clause until he was 15! If my Dad were to find out he'd think that his friend was just as crazy as me. Right now though, I'm pretty sure he just thought he was asking me such absurd questions to please me.
"Your Dad tells me that you believe a certain kid in your class is an alien." Said (D/N), taking a sip out of his coffee that he managed to pull from nowhere.
"Oh yeah! Zim!" I smiled. "He's so weird, even (Y/N) thinks so! Plus, I've seen him without a disguise, just wished that camera was still intact..."
I rubbed the back of my head. (D/N) smiled at that. He got up and placed the empty cup of coffee into the sink before turning to me.
"Well, I do recognise this kid. He knocked on my door last week, he did look rather strange." Right after (D/N) said that Dad choked on his drink. At first, he thought (D/N) was just saying this to become more acquainted with me, but now he wasn't so sure. He heard what his friend said and immediately acted as shocked as ever, never had he expected such a rude response. Of course, I didn't care, I despise Zim.
"That's a little mean don't you think-"
"Oh no! I don't mean it rudely! I know it sounded really rude, I'm just fascinated." (D/N) said, trying to back up his last sentence.
"What did this.. kid.. look like?" I added.
"Well, he must have a severe skin condition, either that or he is an alien. He has green skin, his ears weren't visible, nor was his nose. He's wearing a wig, he also has an odd fashion sense."

'Yep, that's Zim.' I was glad someone else agreed with me. But it would be weird talking to (Y/N)'s Dad about it alone. Perhaps next time I think of knocking for her, I could go and speak to her Dad about this situation. I smirked
I had a perfect idea. It would benefit me and (Y/N)! Well, her Dad. Because he's a journalist, we both could expose Zim and put it in the newspaper. That way, he would always be remembered as a hideous freak. Everyone would finally believe me!! I could also have Dad be amazed at my work and have no choice but to believe my crazy theories in future!
It would take a while to convince him, most importantly to get (Y/N)'s permission. I wasn't going to be cruel, well, I kind of was if we are going through with it... Besides the point.
She has just less than 2 months left with us. Then, they would pursue to another place. So I only have 2 months to complete this plan..!
We talked for a bit before I finally left the house and made my way to Zims.

Your POV:

"So, what are we doing again..?" Alex asked. I couldn't help but wonder the same thing. Hardly any of the students paid attention to the absolute bullshit the teacher had to say. Plus, I never bothered to learn much about space to begin with.
"Yeah, so, uhh, educate me, please. I hardly know anything about space, so someone tutor me." I said, taking a sip out of the orange juice Dib made for us.
"Oh, Zim is an expert on space!" Dib rolled his eyes. Proudly, the irken nodded, then proceeded to respond,
"I like to study it. If you were smart, you would consider studying it too." Perhaps Zim was taking too much pride in this. He never even took in the fact that he never insulted Dib - which was what he intended to do - but he insulted me and maybe Alex.
"OR because you're an alien." Dib spat. Zim kept denying it, not wanting some 'silly old lie' to have any other human see right through his disguise. To us, it was a silly little lie that Dib told, but it was nothing but the truth. Zim didn't need anyone to find out though, it'd only screw up his plans even more.
"Don't believe his foolishness! It's all LIES!!" Zim pointed. Dib just rolled his eyes at that and looked at us too, hoping for us to believe him instead of Zim. We didn't. I tried to make it seem like I did though, but Alex just took it as a stupid thought of his, like it was.
"Here we go again, Dib, aliens don't exist. You may just be delusional." Alex said, patting Dib on the back.
"Whatever," he replied, "let's just get on with the work..." he huffed, remaining seated on the floor next to me.

We all sat in the living room, Zim and Alex sat on the couch while me and Dib sat on the floor. We all discussed the project, agreeing to choose the planet Saturn. It was the first planet we thought of, and I just chose it because it was one of the planets I had a lot of information about. By the end of the day, we did some research and written notes. But we were nowhere near done.
We needed to make the work look neat, we planned to print out a few pictures of the planet and rewrite the key information neatly onto the paper. We'd stick that on some cardboard, add an interesting background then we were done. It'd take a few days, but we had plenty of time.

We decided to meet up once again at Zim's house on Thursday since tomorrow I'd be helping my Dad with something. I didn't know what I'd be getting myself into. He just texted me as I and the group were talking, told me not to make any plans tomorrow. Hopefully, we'd be doing something nice for a change because if it's just the "can you help me sort out paperwork?" or "what do you think of this paragraph?" then I'd want to die.
Even if it was that, I just hoped I'd be getting something out of it. I just dread boring things like that.

I left Zim's house and strolled with Dib and Alex. Dib was the first to go home since his house was the closest to Zims. We waved goodbye to Dib and watched him enter the house, take off his shoes and close the door. Then it was just the two of us, me and Alex.
"So..." Alex started as we began to walk away from the house. We'd be walking up to my house in a few minutes so we had to make this very last conversation quick and short. "Dib and Zim are nice, but they definitely don't like each other."
"Agreed." I laughed a little, "and when you're - sort of - friends with the both of them, it makes life difficult."
"I can see why!" Alex agreed.
Coming up to a turn, me and Alex bumped into each other. We stepped backwards and apologised at the same time. Her house was down the street and mine was around the corner, so there, on the curb, we said our goodbyes. I'd see her tomorrow anyway.

Once I got back home, I took out a letter that was in the letterbox and handed it to my Dad. He had finished his writing hours ago, from what I presumed. But then came the question, where was he earlier?
"Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you, sorry!" He apologised. "I was at Professor Membrane's house catching up with him!"
"Oh, right. I was at Zim's house doing homework." I told him.
"Remind me, who is 'Zim' again?"
"He's that kid that randomly knocked on our door after the first day of school."
"Okay, yeah, got the right guy then..." He mumbled.

I raised an eyebrow. Whatever I felt right now, confusion, I knew something was bound to happen. Whether it did any good, I had no idea, but what I knew was that it most likely had something to do with Zim.
That left me suspicious...

A/N: So, after a while, I'm back with another update. It was only the usual cold that put me off writing. I did, however, do some art! It's my second attempt of drawing Zim, so what do you think?
