Chapter 5

--Previously--

"What breed is he?"
".. Breed..?" Zim said in slight panic. He started to think for a while, before Gir interrupted us.
"Let's watch TV!!" He exclaimed, reaching for the remote. 'Guess I should leave the questions for another day, I just met them after all.'

And so the rest of the day consisted of me and Gir watching TV. Sometimes Zim would join us, but he said he was busy, using the excuse of 'homework'. And that was probably the smartest thing I saw him do all day.
When I got home, I did nothing but sleep. I was stuffed with snacks that I was too full for dinner, and I felt too tired to do anything else. So slowly, I drifted off to dream world...

October fell, and the season of Autumn was starting to show. This morning, a strong wind hit us. I knew this from walking to school on that particular Tuesday. My morning routine never changed, I still knocked for Dib everyday to walk to school with him. Though, after school on most days, I've been hanging out with Zim.

Despite the fact that he can get really loud and rude, on some cases he was actually nice. And Gir was just too cute. I didn't believe he was a dog. For one, he was green. And there was the fact that he could talk and he walked on 2 legs. I didn't know what he was, but he sure as hell was the cutest little thing in the world.
My dad never really got acquainted to Zim, nor his poor excuse of a family. Robot parents? It was quite sad, actually. I was sure to invite Zim over my house someday this week.

I shivered at the temperature, needing to go back into my flat just to wrap myself in a dozen layers. I ignored the need to wear warmer clothes as I'd have no time to run back and get them if I was going to knock for Dib and Gaz.
Speaking of the two, they were just about ready by the time I had arrived at their home. We repeated what we did every morning, walking to school and talking about anything and everything. Dib, though, seemed like there was something on his mind.

I was hesitant to ask, hence why I just gave up in the end. While I wanted to know, I saw that there was no point in trying. I knew Dib was a hard one to get through. I huffed randomly, leaving Dib with the thought that 'I was bored with this conversation', which I never intended him to think. Dib raised an eyebrow, and to that I replied,
"Ah, sorry! I didn't get much sleep last night..." I lied. I got quite a fair amount of sleep, I was just cold today. I felt nervous to say so though. Dib seemed to take that excuse and smiled again. Gaz never really payed attention to what we talked about, she just minded her own business most of the time. It was very similar to how I used to act.
Finally, we entered the school building!

Might I say, school was okay. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but it wasn't the worst thing either. I wasn't very fond of the food, nor did I like my teacher, but other than that, it was okay.
Zim and I have been talking to eachother, never in class though. I try to keep a low profile when talking to that green skinned boy, as I didn't really want Dib to find me and pull me away. We never talked about much either, but I considered him a friend.
I don't know why, but recently, I've not been so nervous about making more friends. I was mainly disappointed at the fact that I'd never see them again, and I'd only hang out with them for a couple of months. But somehow, this time, I felt lucky. I had a chance of keeping contact with my old friends! I guess that made me feel confident.

After the teacher took the register, she looked outside at the miserable weather. Before groaning and turning around to face the class.
"Because of today's horrible weather, you'll be spending your breaks in this classroom..."
The class was filled with disappointed children, their "aw's" and "oh's". It looked like none of them wanted to be stuck with the teacher all day, but who could blame them? Our teacher, Ms Bitters didn't look so happy about this either. After long, she shushed the classroom and began to teach.

When it was actually break time, the rain hadn't stopped, it had at least calmed down. But it still wasn't enough to let us out of the class. The teacher looked at her papers before telling the class,
"I don't care what you do, as long as you don't leave this classroom. If you want to draw, then grab some paper out of this box. Enjoy!" Ms Bitters sarcastically said, rolling her eyes in spite.
Everyone seemed eager to do this, except for Zim. He found this rather boring, and preferred not to 'waste' his time. So the irken held a hand up, before asking the teacher to go to the bathroom. Curiously, having the feeling of suspicion, Dib raised a hand too, asking to go to the bathroom.

So I basically had no one to talk to. I knew what Dib was doing, and he was probably planning on spending his whole break there, so I just rested my head on the table, daydreaming.
Until someone pulled me out of my thoughts,
"Hi."
I looked up to see a dark-haired girl, her eyes were squinted, but I could just about see a hint of colour to them. Pretty sure they were brown. The girl had an ear piercing on and wore a brown skirt with a red polo neck. She seemed friendly, and handed me a piece of paper. "I'm Alex!" She greeted, shaking my hand. I smiled at this,
"(Y/N)."

Zim crept into the bathroom, despite asking the teacher to go in the first place. He looked around the bathroom to check if anyone was there, only to see Dib standing a distance behind him.
'Of course it had to be Dib.' He thought, rolling his eyes.
"Zim....." Said Dib, not sounding very pleased as usual.
"Dib-Stink." Replied the irken, using a bitter voice. Dib only came in here to stop Zim from whatever he was doing, and seemingly, it worked. Zim knew what he was like, and knew that Dib wouldn't leave until he got what he wanted. So he sighed in defeat.
"What's the plan this time..?" Dib eyed Zim suspiciously.
"Nothing. I just had to use the bathroom." Zim lied. And Dib, obviously, saw through him.
"Yeah, yeah!" Dib rolled his eyes. "Do I have to wait with you here all day again? Or will you just give in and leave?"
"Well, you don't have to." Zim walked to a toilet stall, to which Dib ran up and blocked him from entering. In panic, Dib inspected the stall, checking for anything that could possibly contribute to whatever Zim's plan was, if he even had one. Zim eventually got annoyed, and activated his spider legs to pull Dib out of the stall. Just then, another kid walked in, catching Zim in the act. The 13-year-old boy didn't tell anyone, but stared in amazement.

Zim ignored this, and walked into the toilet stall, slamming the door in Dibs face. Dib could only growl and walk away. Zim laughed to himself at that, finally having peace to himself. Now, he never really had a plan, he just wanted to get out of that stupid classroom and possibly go home.
"ANOTHER VICTORY FOR ZIM!!" He exclaimed, trying to make himself believe that he won.

Me and Alex got along pretty well. We chatted about each other, then we drew pictures for each other. It was pretty cool to see her artistic abilities, as I wasn't that good at art. Alex managed to draw an eye, pretty detailed and realistically looking too. I've seen others, they'd usually draw the same thing, the basic eye, but the one Alex drew looked cool. She drew a reflection too.
I never took my eyes off of the project, and compared the two together. Hers definitely won. I praised and complemented her, it was pretty cool how she finished it in a matter of 5 minutes.

"I'll stick it up on my almost fully covered fridge!" I scratched the back of my neck. Alex took my drawing, and replied,
"I'll be sure to do the same then!" She chuckled. Something popped on her mind after that. "Hey," She said after getting up. I perked up and looked back at her, "Wanna hang out after school?"
I thought about it, until finally coming up with a conclusion that I will hang out with her. It'd be nice to hang out with someone other than Zim, Dib and Gaz. I nodded,
"I'll see what I can do!"

Satisfied, Alex walked back to her seat. Break was almost over, and so Dib walked into the room. The short, skinny boy rushed over to my seat. He huffed, talking about what he and Zim were doing.
"I wish I could've showed you! He had these huge spider legs and everything! Best of all, I wasn't the only witness!!"
Dib cheered, and I could only laugh. He seemed awfully happy with that situation. Stopping Zim from his 'evil' secret plan, having someone else too see Zim's 'spider legs', and seeing as this was the first step to show everyone his 'true self'.
We carried on talking about the incident for the rest of the day, and honestly, it made me want to talk to Zim about it. But I just couldn't be bothered, so I just ignored that thought in the end.

Once the bell rang, I smiled, running out of the school. I thought about my new friend and I couldn't wait to hang out with her!
