Chapter 25

--Previously--

That thought was on my mind for quite a bit, while I was also halfway down to earth since I remember seeing Zim readjust his wig from the corner of my eye. But there was another thing I recollected. Only now - minutes later - had I realised that we were all being photographed. Another flash blinded us, and not just me this time.

We were in trouble...

Little did I know, it was a certain little boy dressed in a black trench coat that was hiding behind the scenes. He held a camera, the very same camera that captured both images. Despite it being an alley-way, it wasn't completely cast in darkness. Where he stood was at a perfect angle where the sun (that was setting) reflected a light from his circular glasses.
By now, you may have already guessed who this was.
We could see him clearly now, thanks to the light. Only two circles is what we saw - and a pointed tip of hair. It was obvious to us that this was no stranger, but in fact, Dib Membrane.

Only one question remains,
What was he doing here?

"Nothing." Dib coughed, "Clearly, you guys were having so much fun without me - I should get going."
I knew this was a lie. Gaz saw right through him too, heck, we all saw this behaviour to be creepy... it just wasn't him at all.
"You probably should." Zim picked at his sleeves, avoiding the sight of his foe. To which Dib just shook his head and scoffed at. Now was the time me and Gaz didn't want to interfere in. All we did was watch as Dib climbed out of the gutters of the alley to elsewhere. Despite seeing him going, I'd guess he's probably still near. That was why I requested to go home. Still, I enjoyed today..!

What irked me all night was the fact that Dib was there with us that day - and probably remained there for the rest of it. I found it all to be weird. Another thing that bugged me was that I knew there was photo evidence of Zim now. I'd made a guess that one was taken while his disguise was on (at the skate park) and the other was taken in the alley before Zim put his wig back on.
From this, I just couldn't get to sleep. Who knows what Dib could do with all of this information!?

I bit my nails anxiously - it's what I always tend to do whenever I'm nervous; a recurring habbit. Eventually, I did manage to fall asleep, but it didn't change anything in the morning. I got up (it was a Sunday) and poured myself some cereal. After finishing my breakfast, I dashed out of the house, eager to see Dib. Someone had to convince him not to share the photo's - not to say I had a clue what to tell him. Dib was a hard person to convince, especially when it's revolved around someone like Zim. They both shared a hatred towards each other, plus, Dib was against Zim since he was planning to take over the world. When it came to me, however, I knew that Zim won't be taking over this planet any time soon. For one, he had this whole situation to deal with - his identity was on the risk of being shattered! And anyway, despite how smart the Irken can be, he's not very good at following ideas or plans. If only Dib could see that..!

A smile crept its way onto my face. I knew what I was doing; if I can't properly convince Dib to team with Zim, I'd have to somehow say that this only contributes to their rivalry. I'd have to tell him that instead of coming to good terms with the alien, he'd only irritate him even more. If there was any way to make this easier, it was an argument.
It was Gaz who answered the door, and she held a plain face. Not even bothering to say hello - as if we never interacted with each other yesterday - she walked away, disinterested. Seconds later, Dib bounced to the door. He held it open and leaned forward, eyeing me suspiciously. Obviously, this whole act was about yesterday.
"If you're going to beg me not to show anyone the photo's of Zim, you shouldn't waste your time." Dib said, as if he read my mind onto why I came here in the first place. He wasn't wrong, I knew this would be a challenge, so I reasoned with him.
"Oh! You caught me!" I mocked, with hardly any emotion, flailing my arms in the air like some obsessed fan would. Except, I was no fan.
"This is embarrassing..." Dib muttered, thinking I wouldn't hear him.
I scoffed at that. "You're embarrassing! You're the one who's been spying on us, and I bet it wasn't your first time either!" I said in disgust. What I said wasn't something I thought about beforehand; it slipped out and clearly wasn't helping the current situation.
"I actually can't argue with that." - That was a response that came out unexpectedly. Not even Dib realised he'd said that, it surely left my mouth slightly agape.
"Anyway," I trailed, "I need to borrow that camera."
As if he had nothing to hide, he shrugged his shoulders and ran up to his room. I only waited impatiently - feeling slightly confused as I didn't know what he was doing. Surprisingly enough, he tossed the camera to me. I half expected him to slam the door in my face, but no, he waited and watched as I flipped through old photos. As you've probably assumed, all photo evidence had been deleted. But Dib was too calm for me to be convinced he'd deleted that for anyone's sake. I peeked around his side, feeling awfully suspicious. To that, Dib huffed and commented:
"No, I don't have another camera."
"Dib, why are you so calm about this?"
"I don't need any photo's now, I've already sent them off-"
"YOU WHAT!?" I shrieked. In an instant, I grasped tightly onto Dibs sweaty palm and dragged him through the entire neighbourhood before reaching Zims house.

In front of the door was where we stood - both looking at each other. I let go of his hand and instead, gripped his shoulders, making sure he wouldn't sprint off. I gave him one final chance,
"Explain before I have to tell him about it." Of course, what I said was no threat to Dib. He only found it amusing. Dib lightheartedly chuckled, making his expression just about readable.
"If your so persistent, my friend, I only showed them to your Dad." At this point, I was infuriated. I barged into the house, curious as to why the door was unlocked, and left Dib with Gir (who'd sat on the couch the whole time). I wasn't that dumb though, I'd practically tied Dib to Gir. The robot wouldn't budge - he was to fixated to the TV to care, he was hypnotised!

Before I left the room, I glanced back at Dib, who only gave me a harsh look. I stormed into the kitchen and hopped inside the bin; it was so casual to stain another with the look of confusion. What puzzled me even to this day was how Zim had managed to build this in a matter of seconds! The place was massive! So big, in fact, I sometimes found myself staring into space, lost. Zim was quite easy to spot - his bright colour pallet gave him away, unlike Dib who's dressed in darker clothes. Zim looked over at his projection he made; it was a projection of space, showing the Irken Armada and Earth - far, far, far away from the ship.
I always found it strange how they chose to only pilot the ship in a straight line...
Anyway, Zim frowned at the thought. It reminded him of the florpus incident (which I knew little about). He tried so hard - back then - to impress the Tallest. He'd created a green creature to control the Membracelet, created his very own robot army out of it and moved an entire planet! Still, that made no change. It was a wonder how the Tallests survived and escaped the florpus hole - Zim told me that.
I coughed, gaining his attention. His antennae twitched slightly and he stood stiff before turning around to face me. Speechless - that's what he was. When he'd seen the scowl on my face, he immediately thought this had something to do with himself.
"Zim... I think we need a plan, and fast!"
