Chapter 19

--Previously--

"(Y/N)!" He yelled. "DON'T LET HIM GET AWAY!!"
I could see just how fast Zim ran, worrying about himself being exposed. He looked at me with pleading eyes and to that I couldn't help Dib. They were both my friends; plus, I wouldn't forget the fact that I couldn't reveal Zim's identity either! So I let him get away, following with a displeased Dib; he quickly got over that though. We rushed to our classed to grab our bags and then left the school as if nothing had happened!

It was a wonder why I arrived home late though...

A week had passed since the last incident. I had gotten nothing but questions from my Dad - wanting to jot it down on his computer - so obviously I couldn't say much. The main reason was that it involved Zim, and I couldn't risk that. So I just told him that I so happened to be one of the students that was trapped outside of the school.
Anyway, it was Halloween today and Dib wouldn't stop nagging me about my costume. We had only known each other for 'so long' now. He knew I was moving away within the next month hence why he wanted this Halloween to be extra special. That, and the fact that it was a rare occasion for me to celebrate Halloween. He wanted us both to go as Ghostbusters, which I found to be pretty cool!

We spent the early afternoon going from shop to shop just looking for the right costume. It took us an hour, but we had finally managed to find two costumes. Then, we went back to our houses and got changed into our costumes. Gaz was asked if she wanted to dress as a Ghostbuster to be apart of our trio, but she shook her head and walked away.
What I spent half the day worrying about was Zim. He had been trying to take over Earth for the past year now, so chances are, he was here last Halloween. Who knows what he did back then.!? I'm only guessing now that this day makes it so much easier for him considering that he can roam freely without a disguise. That only makes it a lot harder for Dib himself. Truth being told, I was anxious about tonight. Nevertheless, I tried to keep my mind off of it for the rest of the night. That didn't quite go to plan...

I shut my phone off after hearing a ring of the doorbell. It was a quick guess of mine that it was probably Dib who called. Wasting no time, I put my things to the side and ran to the door. Through the peephole was an excited Dib in his new, Ghostbuster costume. I smiled at that.
"Hey Dib! It's a bit early don't you think..?" I creaked open the door.
"Meh. I got bored waiting. Plus, don't you think it'd be a good idea to leave this early to see what Zim could be up to?" I nodded at that. It did seem logical, that way, we'd expect what was to come and are able to come up with a plan fast. Then again, did Zim ever stick with plan A in the first place?
The door shut by itself once I left the place, and I had waved goodbye to my Dad (who sat in his office). Silence is what carried us throughout the walk to what I'm guessing was Zim's house. Dib was sure to stay hidden away, while he gave me the task to talk to Zim. It was his plan that Dib was trying to figure out; having me be there to talk to Zim just made it easier for him. Finally, we had made it to the peculiar house. I clenched my fist and began to pound on the door. His house was big (and confusing), chances are, he could be anywhere and may not have heard me.

In seconds, the door flung open. Zim stood with Gir, a bewildered expression on his face. The Irken spoke in a low, quiet tone and asked why I was here. Of course, I didn't know how to answer that - Dib brought me here!
"Well..." I thought for a while, "I was wondering if you'd like to hang out tonight?"
Dib slapped is forehead in frustration, not making a sound. I wanted to look at Dib and pound him to the ground, as I expected such a reaction anyway. It was his fault for putting me in this situation.
"Actually, human, I'm busy. And I'm no fool!" Zim pushed me backwards, feeling exasperated. "You almost deceived me! Thankfully, if it wasn't for my amazing  intelligence and for Dib's abnormally large forehead and oddly spiked hair
"Is it really that big!?" Dib poked up, touching his head. I could barely contain myself, looking at the now offended Dib. Still, his plans has foiled. Zim chuckled evilly before slamming the door in my face. Dib took my hand and dashed away in an instant. It was clear to me that he was somewhat annoyed at Zim. Now I could only hope his plans weren't as bad as last time!

It was beginning to get late now. Me and Dib were practically stocked with sweets. It had been hours and still no sign of Zim. Most of the night was spent, us waiting for something to happen. Truth being told, I was eager for something to happen; it would make the night more interesting. Zim had been in his house from what I had assumed. We didn't go near there since we last knocked for Zim though. I remember me and Dib walking past Alex. It was so ironic to find someone we knew very well dressed in a ghost costume, very fitting for our role as well. Alex was walking down the road with her little brother, Louis. I had only met Louis today, he was very sweet, very cute too. It was lucky that her parents trusted her to take care of her six-year-old brother. He was dressed as a pumpkin, as usual. We crossed paths and somehow knew it was Alex underneath that blanket, then we ended up chasing her down the street. Well, Dib spent most of the time doing that, I had to be the one to watch over her brother.

As of right now (just after Alex and her brother went), me and Dib were left to channel our thoughts. It was a wonder what could happen at this time of night. Whenever we'd expect the bad to happen, everything remained silent. It brought an eerie feeling to this all. I feel like maybe Zim is watching, just waiting for the perfect time to catch us off guard. That would certainly leave it to his victory...
It was right on queue, right when we didn't expect it; just as I mentioned. At this particular moment, screams of little children coming from the left direction filled our ears. Those poor kids... filled with fear. We both had a feeling it was Zim's doing. And in an instant, we were out of that spot, sprinting to Zim's house.
Standing at his door  were a bunch of children - as we had guessed. They all turned their heads towards me and Dib, I could just see the tears in their eyes. It was then that I noticed they never held any sweets. Did Zim really think that stealing sweets from children was going to help him in any way? It was pathetic, really.

No one stood at the door, but it was open (strangely enough). So I asked Dib to wait outside with the kids while I go and talk to Zim. Either I persuade him to give the sweets back to the whining kids, or I'll have to take them myself. Zim was nowhere in sight, but on the couch was his robot assistant, Gir. He squished between the back cushions, laughing to himself. I was almost certain now that this wasn't Zim's fault that there were crying children outside, it was Gir's. To my surprise, I found it to be easier than I thought it would, dealing with that little robot...
"Oh, Gir!" I cheered, seeing him perk up after hearing my voice. He was overjoyed to know that I came over to visit him - like any other encounter we'd had.
"Hi! Wanna roll around the place and eat sweets with me?"
"Oh, Gir, I would love to-" I seemed almost disappointed, "-but I have no time. Where is Zim?"
"I don't know... He left me..!" He cried. I almost sympathised for him.
"Awh..." I muttered. I pondered for any ideas to get those sweets back. And finally, it came to me: "Hey, Gir? How would you like to party with those kids! You guys can eat all of the sweets to your heart's content!"
Gir immediately got up from the couch. He seemed very exhilarated about this idea and couldn't wait to watch tv with the kids. Plus, there's so many of them! Not long after that was mentioned, Gir had already rushed out of the door to go and tell the kids. I wiped the sweat I unknowingly shed during our conversation. Then I walked out; me and Dib continued our night without a care or a worry. It was Zim's problem to deal with all of those people at the end of the night.

"What could he be up to?" Dib asked suspiciously. I knew who and what Dib was concerned about: Zim. Unfortunately though - upon asking Gir - I never got to find out where that boy could possibly be! I tried not to think much of it. Maybe Zim was just out trick or treating like a normal person? Then again, I guess even that would be abnormal of him to do. Dib only made me think about it even more!
"I don't know..." I frowned.

'But whatever it may be, I know for a fact that it isn't anything good...'
