Chapter 18
--Previously--
"Hello you disgusting creatures of Earth! I'd like to inform you that there is a FIRE!! The alarms broken, so I had to tell you myself. This is your head-master speaking! NOW GET OUT!!"
I slapped my head in annoyance. Just what was that boy up to now!?
________________________________
I acted normal (like everyone else) and casually walked with Alex. Unfortunately for me, I lost her in the huge crowd of children that was rushing out of the building. I was only thankful that I got to breathe again upon someone pulling me towards the wall and into a classroom.
"You're staying with me, (Y/N)-human!" Zim demanded with an 'oh so evil' tone. I eyed the boy suspiciously. There must be a reason why he's dragging me into this. And quite frankly, I didn't want anything to do with it.
"Zim.... What are you planning..?"
"What? It's just a fire drill! Then... I don't know... I'll take over the schools technology and hopefully start the next phase of my plan." Zim crossed his arms, satisfied with his plans. It was confidence; It was plastered all over him. When he's in this sort of state, it can be hard for him to comprehend what sort of consequences he may face if he failed. And it was I who had to remind him.
"Which is..."
"I'll have to rethink about phase three..."
So far, the guy had good things coming his way. For him, this was a genius plan. I was actually quite impressed that he had managed to pull it off, let alone get this far! He had the whole school fooled - and god knows where the teachers are!
The only question is:
"What if you fail? Won't you be expelled?"
"Nonsense!!" Zim put a gloved finger over my lips as a way to keep me quiet. "I got rid of my disguise. They'll never recognise Zim!"
It was relatively smart of him to pull this off. Gir would've had to help him in some way (wherever he may be).
"Oh, he took care of the staff!" Zim replied. While he never described in what way his SIR unit 'took care' of the staff. Perhaps he hypnotised them somehow, he does have that sort of power over me.
"And why am I here..?" It was my final question.
"To avoid spreading the word that I'm taking over the school!" He grinned widely before pulling out a gadget. He balanced it on the tip of his fingers with a sly smirk plastered on his face.
"Isn't it funny?" He snickered. "I already have some sort of control over the place already!"
And with a click of a button, all doors and windows in the classroom (possibly the whole school) were barricaded with heavy metal. I guessed it was some sort of 'security software' this school surprisingly had. How strange, I didn't think that such a poor school would have such technology.
It did leave panic on me though. For all I know, it was just me and Zim trapped in this school. Heck, he may have actually won! He laughed loudly upon seeing my facial features change. I went from calm and collected to paranoid in an instant - my hairs pricked up, my eyes widened, my posture changed - it was the fear of what Zim may be capable of! Zim activated his spider legs, carrying him off of the floor and up to a vent. Shortly after, he began to crawl through it, following the words:
"Have fun, (Y/N)!" And with that, he blocked any passage through the vents. Only someone from the inside were able to open them now.

Dib's POV:
It wasn't long before I could hear everyone rush out of the school. Of course it had to be Zim! It made sense and I just knew that he was up to something. If only I had known what he was trying to do. I mean, I figured it wouldn't be so bad this time, especially after the Florpus incident. Right now, it was just me and Gaz against Zim. God knows where (Y/N) went!
Sooner or later, the look of panic filled my face. My eyes caught onto the sight of (Y/N) being dragged to a different room. I knew who did it; it was Zim. The only problem was the parade of students running through the halls. I looked to Gaz, noticing a look of sympathy on her face, which soon changed to blind rage. So she knew what was going on too.
Gaz and I soon peeked into the room, just to see what exactly was going on. It was clear to me that Zim wasn't being so kind to (Y/N). Now, I couldn't quite hear what was being said (other than muffled voices) but I could kind of get the gist. Then I watched Zim pull a gadget from his pocket: a black rectangular remote with a big, red button in the middle. Soon enough, I watched as his finger hovered over the button. He was tempted to press it. And once he did, the whole school went into some sort of 'lockdown' mode! That's when I knew we had to get (Y/N) out of there.
It wasn't long before Gaz pointed to a vent and we both ended up crawling through it. The vents were long and narrow - really confusing to get the right path. It was only a miracle when we found a classroom with only one student sitting in there: (Y/N).
Since Gaz had somehow managed to squish in front of me, she bashed her knuckles onto the vent. It eventually broke from one powerful force, but it left her with sore, red knuckles. (Y/N) was far from terrified when she saw us. She acted as though we were gods and hugged us so tightly as a 'thank you'. I admit, it was nice to know that someone finally appreciated my help. Other times, I'd find myself around the wrong people; helping the wrong people.
"Well, you're welcome. But you owe me big time, my knuckles are red!" Gaz whined.
"Right, (Y/N), what's going on with Zim?!" I asked randomly. She looked down to the ground, quite shy to speak up about it. I guess I would be too if that happened to me.
"Well... he's going to take over the school. I'm only here so that I wouldn't tell anyone about it - he said." I stroked my chin for bit, until I briefly made up a plan. From there, we hurdled together and crawled out of the vents - into the corridors.
It was then that we heard commotion going on in one of the classrooms. Specifically, the room to our left. A loud, giggling fit echoed through the room. I knew just who it was. The laughter was sort of high-pitched; it rung in my ears. Gir, this was. In a hurry, me, Gaz and (Y/N) followed the noise into the correct classroom.
Only to find nothing there...
No sign of Gir. It was just the aftermath of what he did. The classroom was an absolute mess! Paint was scattered all over the walls - very horribly - might I add. Desks were tipped over, chairs were stacked onto each other, almost crashing to the ground. And on the desk, a teacher slept. This was it! This was our chance! The only problem was that she never woke up.
'Is she dead!?' My eyes widened. 'No... of course not! She can't be! She's still breathing...'
(Y/N) tilted her head,
"Is she okay?" She asked.
"I hope so..." I shivered in response. The three of us left the classroom, very suspicious of the situation. Then I had a bright idea! I knew just where to find Zim; the headmasters office. "Follow me!!" I exclaimed.

(Y/N)'s POV
"Follow me!!" They were the words that Dib told us before dashing off in a hurry to god knows where! Me and Gaz just followed him like little minions. None of us had a clue as to what we were doing apart from Dib. When I saw them through the vents, it brought me relief. And here I thought it was just me and Zim, thankfully, it wasn't.
It was the headmasters office. That's where Dib took us. Not long after reaching the door, we could already hear laughter from Zim. I sure felt like an idiot at this stage - and so should everyone else that stood with me. How did no one think of the camera's!? On queue, Zim kicked the door open and ran away holding a huge bag. Before running off, Dib was knocked to the ground; a red mark stained his face.
"Get up..!" Gaz rolled her eyes, holding out a hand to help out her brother. I admit, it was a funny sight; seeing him fall to the ground like that from the impact of the door. It must have hurt though. He groaned in pain and rubbed his head, then saw Gaz get grouchy from holding her hand out for too long and took her offer.
It wasn't long before Dib followed Zim from behind. He was a fast runner indeed - barely even tripping over! Me and Gaz stuck by each other from behind and followed the trail of Dibs muddy feet that miraculously planted onto the floor. In a matter of time, we made it to the sports hall; the scene in front of us was familiar. Dib standing opposite Zim. A couple of words left Zim's mouth, a smirk following them,
"Oh, Dib! You don't give up, do you? Well it's too bad you won't ever beat me..."
Dib wasn't so pleased with his words. It was as clear as day to him that those words were bound to stab Zim in the back. The alien proceeded to take a few steps backwards. He knew Dib well enough to realise that he wasn't going without a challenge.
"JUST GIVE ME THAT REMOTE!!!"
Zim was definitely prepared for it, and ran as soon as he found Dib stepping forward. Dib charged at Zim for one thing only: the key to unlocking the school and getting ourselves out of here, the remote. He piled onto Zim, hearing his loud, annoying, high-pitched screeching as they fought for the remote. They were both almost equally strong, with Zim being ever so slightly stronger because of the way his species was. Nevertheless, it was Dib who won the petty fight. It was him who pressed firmly onto the button to deactivate the schools 'lockdown' system. And it was him who saved the day yet again.
As for Zim, it was a close call. Students started flooding the halls again; Dib felt like it was finally his chance to expose Zim. The irken ran close to me (who stood next to the doors) and so Dib shouted over to me.
"(Y/N)!" He yelled. "DON'T LET HIM GET AWAY!!"
I could see just how fast Zim ran, worrying about himself being exposed. He looked at me with pleading eyes and to that I couldn't help Dib. They were both my friends; plus, I wouldn't forget the fact that I couldn't reveal Zim's identity either! So I let him get away, following with a displeased Dib; he quickly got over that though. We rushed to our classed to grab our bags and then left the school as if nothing had happened!
It was a wonder why I arrived home late though...
