~Build a House Around Her~

Peter reached the end of his story, and breathlessly looked over to see Wendy's reaction.

Except, Wendy wasn't there.

"When did Wendy leave?" He asked his little troop.

But before they could reply, the spiral mark on Peter's arm glowed bright green, and burned. He shot to his feet. The hair on the back of his neck stood up.

"I HAVE SHOT THE CREATURE!", A triumphant voice hollered from the forest.

Peter frowned and gestured for the boys to follow him, he rested his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Nibs grabbed a flaming branch from the fire, and joined Peter at the front of the pack.

The group of boys all converged on the spot where Wendy lay.

Tendrils from her bun trailed across her face. Her white nightgown had twisted around her legs.

Poor unfortunate Toodles stood proudly over Wendy's body, a mighty hunter over his prey.

He watched Peter's face, as the intrigue vanished, only to be replaced with white hot rage.

"Whose arrow?" Peter asked, his face as hard as stone.

With a confused quirk of his brow, Toodles looked down at the creature at his feet.

"Mine." He whispered.

"Oh Toodles..." Nibs spoke quietly. "You have shot our queen."

Toodles shook under the weight of Peter's gaze.

He hung his head in shame, as Peter pulled the arrow out of Wendy to use as a knife.

"Strike Peter... Strike true." Toodles spoke bravely.

For one terrible moment Peter raised his hand over his head, a stray tear rolled down his cheek.

Then, as he brought his arm, down something stopped him.

"I cannot strike." Peter said with a sort of wonder, "Nibs bring the light closer."

Nibs brought the torch closer and all the boys gazed in wonder at what saved Toodles from his fate.

"Your Lady! She has saved Toodles." Nibs cried.

"Poor Toodles." Wendy breathed.

Peter dropped the arrow and found the necklace around Wendy's neck.

The green crystal had taken the blow of the arrow. As a result, the crystal had splintered, a large crack spanned the front of it.

And the magic from Peter's kiss, made Wendy's neck glow a funny shade of green as it coaxed the air into her lungs.

Peter and the boys let out a collective sigh of relief.

The forest was still for a moment before a mournful tinkling filled the air.

Peter's eyes were drawn to a branch where Tinkerbell sat crying.

His mind worked overtime.

"Toodles..." he bit.

"Yes Peter?" Toodles squeaked.

"Who told you to shoot the Lady?"

Toodles bit his lip, then ventured hesitantly, "...Tinkerbell said..."

"What did Tink say?" Peter ground out, his knuckles white on the hilt of his sword.

"She... she said that you wanted me to shoot Wendy, she said the Lady was a bird..."

The air crackled around Peter, and all the boys except Toodles (Who was frozen in fear), Took an instinctive step backwards.

"TINKERBELL!" Peter shouted.

The very forest shook.

Tinkerbell nearly fell off her branch, and went to fly away.

At once, a black hand reached out of the darkness and held her fast.

She struggled, but it seemed the more she struggled, the tighter the hand held her.

Peter's shadow clambered down from the tree and stepped into the light.

Peter glared at Tinkerbell.

"Did you do this?"

The haughty tilt of her chin, and the fire in her eyes, told him everything he needed to know.

Peter shook from rage, his face turning very red in the torch-light.

"That's it. We're no longer friends!! I never want to see you again. You're hereby banished from Neverland.... Forever!!!" He growled.

"No Peter." Wendy groaned.

"Not forever?" Peter asked, turning to gaze at Wendy.

Wendy nodded weakly.

"...Fine... for a week then." Peter amended.

And though she should have been pleased for a lighter sentence. This only aggravated Tinkerbell more, and her hatred for Wendy doubled.

Peter nodded to his shadow, who released the pixie.

Tinkerbell shot up into the air, and flew immediately to away from Peter. Away from Neverland. And as she flew, she felt the beginnings of a plan forming.

Peter watched as Tinkerbell's glow faded from the sky.

"Toodles there you are!" John, who had finally made it back to the group, dragging a very sleepy Michael by the hand, sighed.

"What's wrong?" John asked.

The boys stepped back so John finally had a clear view of his sister.

"Wendy!" He exclaimed.

"She's alright. She's just resting." Peter spoke calmly.

"Well she can't stay here." John replied, glancing around at the forest.

"Yes and she really shouldn't be moved." Peter replied.

"What happened?" John asked.

"She was shot with an arrow." Slightly replied.

"What?!" John replied.

"She's fine." Nibs interjected.

Peter thought for a moment. "If we can't bring her to the camp, we shall bring the camp to her!"

Peter looked down at her, and brushed her brown bangs off her face tenderly.

"Yes! We shall make a house fit for a queen!" He exclaimed, "Listen closely boys, here's what we need..."
