(10) - Parties and Premonitions
THiRD PERSON - STiLL ON THE QUiN JET
"Dr. Cho is on her way in from Seoul. Is it alright if she sets up in your lab?" Tony asks Banner and the man just nods.
"Thank you," Stark turns to tell Jarvis something, "Tell her to bring everything Barton... and the kid needs the full treatment." The computer complies.
"She tried to stop the bleeding and was smart enough to leave the bullet in," Natasha comments as she looks at the two wounded.
"Thank goodness for Dr. Cho or else Nadia would have one nasty scar." Tony fakes being frightened.
"Now is not the time Tony, this is why I didn't want the kid on the mission. Or any mission for that matter." Steve Rogers had all he needed to make sure the girl didn't go along with them again.
"Jarvis, how many casualties did she cause?" The computer, computes it then a nearly triple-digit number pops up on the screen.
"How about everyone else?" She was one of the lower numbers but it was good.
"Seventy-eight hits. Five deaths out of it, now you can't tell me she's not useful." Natasha agrees. Everyone but Captain agrees.
"And it only took one to her to take her down." Steve points out.
"She's not a god you idiot." Tony clears the screen as they land.
NADiA'S POiNT OF ViEW - BANNER'S LAB
"Where am I?" I open my eyes and see I'm in some type of lab, lying on a comfortable table thing.
"Avengers Tower, I am Doctor Helen Cho, nice to meet you." I nod and squint through the light.
"Is he gonna be okay? Pretending we need Barton really brings us together." I chuckle lazily.
"What did you guys give me?" I giggle.
"Laughing gas so I could remove the bullet." Dr. Cho responds and I look to see her working on Barton's wounds. "There's no possibility of deterioration. The nano-molecular functionality is instantaneous. His cells don't know they're bonding with a simulacrum." She responds to Natasha.
Bruce Banner walks in, "That's amazing... she's creating tissue." The doctor laughs and I do because she did. Bruce walks over to me.
"Here, thought you might need them." He hands me my glasses and I thank him.
"I don't believe we have been properly introduced, I'm Bruce Banner." I shake his hand.
"Nadia Oakley." I slide on the glasses and sigh and the relief they brought my eyes. They were beginning to water under these intense LED's.
"The regeneration Cradle could have this done in twenty minutes tops if you brought them to my lab." The Dr. explains.
Tony shrugs, "He's flatlining...oh no, call it. What's the time?" Clint laughs,
"I'm gonna live forever, I'm made of plastic!" Tony hands him a cup and I feel the dryness in my throat.
"Oh look who's finally awake." He uses a baby voice and I roll my eyes.
"Has anyone ever told you, that you act like a child?"
He just shrugs, "I will get you some water. Jarvis get us some water in here." I thank him before Dr. Cho begins talking again.
"This isn't generating plastic, it's generating Clint, he's gonna be 100% himself." Clint groans.
"So I won't live forever?" She shakes her head.
"Eventually, Tony's clunky metal suits are going to be left in the dust," Helen says this to me as I wince when I try to stand. "Don't do that. Just because I removed the bullet doesn't mean you're healed yet." I comply.
Living past my teenage years sounds rather nice. "The plan is to remove them and I do expect to see you at the party on Saturday," Stark announces and she shakes her head.
"I don't have time for parties, Stark." She hesitates before speaking again.
"Will Thor be there?" Tony laughs.
NADiA'S POiNT OF ViEW - AT THE PARTY
"Are you ever going back to school?" I shake my head no.
"It seems pointless...plus I would like to think I'm pretty smart." Peter nods, we're on the roof again. It's quiet up here, unlike the inside of the tower which is loud with the party.
"You were placed in the higher classes, so I would assume so."
I shrug, "How would they know how smart I am though? I've never done any schooling before... minus the youth- nevermind. My father homeschooled me until about a year ago." I hated homeschool.
It was long and vigorous. My father would give me something to learn and I couldn't move on until I knew it up, down, backward, and sideways.
From ages five to eleven I was in a boarding school... except it wasn't a normal school. I shake the thoughts from my mind in hope of acting like it never happened. The small spaces...
I mean it did help me in the end, I knew how to make all of those arrows just on pictures alone. "For homeschool, you're really smart. I know the science class was easy for you, you didn't even write notes." I think back to the one day I went to school.
I wonder what my father told them... huh. "We should go make sure everyone is okay, especially since Thor is drinking." I cringe, the Asgardian was rowdy enough without the influence of alcohol.
"They're fine, but you wanna go get some pizza? I know this place that has amazing pizza." I nod as we make our way downstairs.
Tony has an Iron Man hand on and he's trying to lift Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. I laugh as a man with his own set of Iron Man hands tries to lift it with him. "Are you even pulling?" The man- whom I recognize as War Machine- asks and Tony grunts.
"Are you on my team?" Thor is entertained as Peter and I watch this whole thing.
"Just represent! Pull!" I look at the Iron Man hands he has and I notice that they're silver. Bruce walks up to the hammer and roars. He attempts to become Hulk but fails miserably.
"Cap!" Tony claps the man's shoulders and when he pulls it budges a little bit, Thor's laugh drops.
"Nothing," Steve mutters with a small smile.
"Widow?" Tony asks and Natasha shakes her head.
"I already know what it will tell me."
All eyes are on Peter and I, "You." Tony points at me.
"Me?" I ask with a confused expression.
"Her?" Thor asks I send him a glare.
"If two grown men can't lift it what gives you the idea I can?" He shrugs and I just walk over to the hammer.
"See watch it won't lift." The hammer makes a noise, suddenly the room is silent. I moved it, I moved Thor's hammer, like five inches but I did!
"Holy shit!" Clint yells.
"Steve, he said a bad language word." A woman with brown hair says and Steve sighs.
Thor stands up and walks over to me, he looks into my eyes and I crane my neck to look into his. "You, small human, are kind of worthy." I smile widely and he claps my back. "But the rest of you, are not!" The shouts of disagreement rise in the air as Peter and I make our way to the elevator.
"I can't believe I just lifted Thor's hammer! How cool is that!?" I giggle as the doors shut I see something weird, a robot? I get a weird feeling but I shake it off and we head to the ground floor.
"Did you see Mr. Stark's face?" I nod laughing.
