Chapter 8

"Do you want to film a video sometime?" Anthony asked, catching me slightly off guard. I closed the notebook I had been writing in and looked up at the American.

"Really?" I didn't mean to sound so surprised.

You're just surprised because he has Phil to collaborate with and he's so much funnier than you.

He let out a soft laugh, finding my shock rather humorous. "Yeah? I have a few ideas in mind but it's up to you what we do." I smiled to myself before nodding.

-

That other dude has a really annoying voice. I couldn't even finish the video tbh.

Isn't he Phil's friend? I'm surprised he has another friend lol

He sounds so posh and stuck up. Like dude I bet you're not even intelligent so just shut up XD

I sighed, closing my laptop.

Of course no one liked you, Dan. You're the most annoying person on the planet.

I made a mental note to decline the offer of any more collaborations: I wasn't sure how much more hate I could take.

"I saw your video with Anthony," I lifted my head up to see Cindy standing in the doorway. "The most entertaining part was reading the comments. It seems like a lot of people don't like you."

"I know." I replied, shrugging. I needed to pretend the words didn't get to me, even if they were hands grabbing me and pulling me underwater.

"You aren't good enough for Phil." She somehow managed to be a physical representation of the voice in my head.

-

My phone lit up from where it was on my bedside table. I reached out and read the notification, my eyebrows furrowing in the process. I opened up Twitter so I could read what Anthony had responded to. I found tears were beginning to well in my eyes and I was smiling. For once, I felt wanted and like someone actually cared.

@AnthonyPadilla who's that kid in your latest video? Shouldn't you collab with other people who are actually likeable? He was just plain annoying. I couldn't even sit through the whole video :/

@AnthonyPadilla: You didn't need to watch the video. Dan is an amazing person who deserves so many more subscribers. Stop hating on him when you don't even know him.

I wiped away a tear and turned off the device. Suddenly, I felt bad for feeling jealous of Anthony. I had nothing to worry about. Anthony was the sweetest man (after Phil of course but no one needed to know that) on the earth and he had tried to protect me.

-

"I saw your Tweet," I said when I saw Anthony the next morning. "Thank you but you didn't need to defend me like that." I brought a hand through my fluffy hair, avoiding the American's gaze.

"I did. I apologise for how horrible people were being to you in my comments. I hope you know none of what they said was true. You're funny, smart, good looking, sweet and not even the slightest bit annoying." Anthony replied, pulling me into a hug. I was blushing, not used to being complimented so much. We pulled apart when we heard a gasp, seeing Phil who was holding a hand over his heart in fake hurt.

"My boyfriend is cheating on me with my friend who I consider my brother. I need a moment: I'm in shock." He then let out a loud laugh and both Anthony and I chuckled with him. I was happy. I felt good enough because I was surrounded by people I loved and they loved me too.

-

It wasn't long before Anthony had to return back to America. The drive to the airport had been pretty much silent as neither Phil nor I wanted to see our friend go. Once we arrived, Phil started to cry.

"I don't want you to leave," Phil sobbed. He was hugging onto Anthony so tightly that he was going red in the face. "I'll miss you so much, Anthony."

"I'll be back before you know it... My flight's boarding; I really need to go, Phil," Anthony's voice was gentle, as if he was talking to a very fragile child. It was obvious he was also upset but he was trying to stay strong for his best friend's sake. "I love you and I'll see you soon."

Phil sighed before releasing Anthony from the hug and mumbling, "I love you too."

-

Phil was genuinely distraught about Anthony having to go home so I decided that it was finally time for a date. I had instructed that everyone left the house and they happily did so, apart from Cindy who was rather reluctant. Chris and PJ had gone out together whilst Cindy said she was going to visit her parents who were in town for a few weeks.

I had picked out a range of video games (ranging from Mario to Halo) and I had purchased a wide variety of snacks. I had a fluffy blanket ready in case it got cold. I had thought of everything because I wanted the date to go perfectly.

I knocked on Phil's bedroom door, wearing a smart button-up shirt and skinny jeans. Phil opened up the door, his attire consisting only of a pair of pyjama bottoms. I tried not to stare at his bare chest too long in case he thought I was creepy. "Get dressed," I started, grinning. "We're going on a date."

"It's a nice thought and all but I was going to record a video." Phil responded but I shook my head.

"Nope. I've already set it all up!" I then headed back to the living room, grabbing the remote controllers so everything was ready. Phil eventually came downstairs and he looked... flawless. He was also wearing a button-up but it was tight, showing off his perfect figure. He had obviously had a very rushed shower because his hair was still wet and flat against his forehead. "What do you want to play first?"

Phil went silent as he browsed my selection of games. He decided on Mario Kart and put the disk into the console. He sat at my side after grabbing a remote, so close that our thighs were touching. I grinned, loving the contact. He reached forward and grabbed a handful of Doritos, shovelling them in his mouth in the most attractive way.

We set off and his Peach character immediately took the lead, my Yoshi lagging behind.

We playing Mario Kart for around an hour until Phil got frustrated that he couldn't win any of them (he genuinely groaned every time he was hit by a shell which was often). We had a break from the video games so we could talk and eat... or well... I had my head leant on his shoulder as he ate. "How's the date, Phil?" I asked with a wide smile on my face.

"Well I'm pretty sure you should have let me win considering you arranged the date?" Phil laughed. His laugh was so adorable.

"I'm not letting you win that easily."

"Unfair..." He pouted so I gently kissed his cheek. He went slightly red; I did that. I made him blush! "Anyway... what game next?"

"How does Halo sound?"

-

We played Halo for so long that I lost track of time. Phil was the one winning the majority of the games and I was the one getting frustrated. He shot my character within a minute of me respawning every time. (I'm sure he was just lucky as he was the worst at Halo.) "Phil!" I yelled as he killed me for what felt like the millionth time.

"Are you letting me win or are you genuinely this bad?" Phil chuckled. I rolled my eyes, groaning as I died again. "Aw is Dan getting angry?"

"No!"

"I think you are." I dropped my Xbox remote onto my lap as I folded my arms, refusing to look in his direction.

"You're having a tantrum-"

"I am not!" He shoved my side, making me pout dramatically. He made it up to me by kissing me gently. When we pulled apart, I mumbled, "I feel better now."

"You sure?"

"I don't know... Maybe one more kiss?"

Phil didn't complain as he attached our lips again. I brought my hand through his still-damp hair as his hand was making its way under my shirt. As it came in contact with my chest, I gasped, backing up a little.

"Sorry... Was that too much?" Phil asked, nervously looking down at his lap.

"No... your hands are cold." He giggled, the nerves fading completely. I leaned forward and we picked up where we left off.

A few minutes later, I wasn't wearing a shirt. I had no idea how far we were going to go but I honestly didn't care too much. I was just unbuttoning his shirt when we heard the door shut. Cindy was then standing in front of us, her eyes wider than... the Grand Canyon! (I'm the worst at similes I swear) We couldn't deny what we had been doing because I was shirtless and Phil's hair was a complete mess.

She was staring right at me so I lifted up my shirt and pulled it back on, suddenly very self conscious. The expression on her face was unreadable.

"Why are you home?" I questioned, breaking the awkward silence. Cindy let out a loud huff, folding her arms and glaring at us.

"I can go if you two want to-" Cindy started but I cut her off before she could finish.

"It's already too late."

"Well I'm sorry. Did you expect me to stay out with my parents until midnight? I expected your date to have finished by now." I glanced at the clock; it was eleven already? Time went by so fast.

"Sorry. We can end the date here." I glanced at Phil and he shrugged. I bet Cindy had planned to interrupt the date.

"Whatever." Cindy walked out, presumably going to her room.

"I'm sorry we had to end it so abruptly." I mumbled, beginning to clear up the empty bowls which had once held all the food.

"It's not your fault, Dan. I thought it had been great up to that point. We can always finish it off tomorrow or something." He winked. He winked! I can confidently say it was the most attractive thing in the universe. I blushed intensely, my mind wandering slightly.

I'm tired and just want to sleep forever. I'm not even joking.
