Chapter One

ELYSE PIERCE WOKE UP To the sound of her sister, Elaine's voice "Go take out the trash!" She yelled as she jumped on top of Elyse.

Elyse groaned in pain as she slowly opened her eyes, the sun shining through her window as she looked at her sister "Why can't you do it" Elyse spoke, Her voice raspy and strained as she slowly got up.

She rubbed her eyes as she yanked the bag from her sister's hand and walked to the door, she slipped on her shoes before walking outside. She walked until she turned to see a young boy her age, running up to her.

"Hi" Elyse spoke as the boy stared at her "Hi- I'm Miguel" he stammered over his words. He never really spoken to a girl besides his yaya and mom.

"Elyse. Did you just move or-?" They walked towards the trash, as he spoke "Yeah, My family is in 109." Elyse nodded as she smiled at him.

"Cool! I just moved too, I'm 107!" He smiled at her before they saw, a middle age blonde man walk past them before Miguel walked over to the guy.

"Hi I'm Miguel, My family and I just moved into 109." Miguel told the man. The blonde man looked at Miguel and Elyse "Great. More Immigrants."

Elyse glared at the man before crossing her arms "Actually, we're from Riverside." Miguel spoke as they continued to walk towards the bins.

"Anyways I was wondering if you guys were having trouble with your water pressure-" Miguel started before he got interrupted by Elyse "Oh my! We are, it's sucks" Elyse nodded as Miguel and Johnny stared at her.

Johnny opened the trash bin before grabbing his bag "Oh- the bottles go in the blue b-" Elyse stated but Johnny ignored her and threw it in before turning to the two teens.

"Listen, Menudo and Curly, I've lived in this shit hole for over ten years. The pipes don't work, The fountains full of piss" Elyse scrunched her face in disgust as the man continued "The only good is I don't have to talk to anybody. So nice knowing you." He grabbed his tool box and walked towards his car.

Once he left, Elyse turned to Miguel "Well I have to go, but nice meeting you Miguel." She smiled before leaving. Miguel waved bye as he smiled lightly before going to his apartment.

ELYSE SPENT THE DAY in her apartment with her sister. They watched Romcoms, Marvel Movies and Their favorite show. As the sky got darker, Elyse realized that her mom didn't grab anything for dinner that night. So now she grabbed her shoes, slipped them on and walked outside.

With her mom always at work, Her dad never there, and it just being Elyse who takes care of Elaine, put a lot of responsibility on a Fifteen year old girl. The sisters had always been close, attached by the hip even. With it mostly being them, they learned to make dinner. Finding recipes online, constantly throwing up because of the food. Elyse didn't mind taking care of Elaine. She just wished she had her mom somewhat there often.

The night breeze blew in her face as she closed the door, She saw Miguel leaving his apartment. She walked up to him "Hey! Where are you going?" She asked as they walked side by side, their shoulders brushing lightly "To the Store. You?" Miguel looked at her as she looked back at him "Same!"

As they walked to the Mini Mart at the Strip-mall by their Apartment Complex, They laughed together, Talking about their life's, Exchanging questions.

They walked in the minimart together as they went their separate ways, Elyse grabbed what she needed before walking towards the counter to pay before she saw her neighbor throwing cash at the cashier and walking out with his pizza.

After Miguel and Elyse paid, they heard a bell ring and saw a group of boys walking in and grabbing alcohol. Elyse and Miguel exchanged a glance as the boys walked to the counter, Elyse turned to Miguel "I'm gonna go outside, I'll wait for you." Miguel nodded as she walked outside.

A couple minutes passed before Elyse heard the doors open and boys yelling at Miguel "What the hell are you doing! Why you gotta blow my spot! He thought we were in college dumbass!" A boy yelled as Miguel defended himself "I didn't know you guys were trying to buy beer. I'm sorry!"

The boy pushed Miguel to the grass as Miguel groaned in pain. Elyse quickly walked over to Miguel and helped him up before the boys grabbed her and threw her back, they laughed and muttered things that Elyse didn't hear as her head was spinning from the fall.

"Ooh, what do we got here?"

"What do you got? Pepto?"

"Oh shit! Someone has fricking ' diarrhea"

The blonde fat curly dude spoke "Yo! We should call him Rhea' "

The boys laughed as Elyse slowly got up as she held her head the boys poured the Pepto on Miguel's hair then through the rest at Elyse "Bitches" the boy spoke. As they laughed again Elyse wiped the Pepto off as Miguel and her muttered under their breath.

"Asshole."

"Dick." Elyse muttered as the boys looked at them both "Ooh!"

The boy walked closer to Miguel "What'd you say?" He asked the two teenagers "We didn't say anything" Miguel defended before getting punched in the stomach, Elyse grabbed the boy and punched him "Dick is what I said." The boy threw her off before going back to Miguel, Elyse groaned in pain as she held her head, miguel got pushed into a red car.

The blonde man that Elyse and Miguel talked to that morning stood up as he yelled "Hey! Watch the car man." The boys snickered as they muttered "who's this dude?"

"Just leave the dorks alone."

"See this guy? Eating dinner at the mini mart like a bum!" The laughter ringing through Elyse's ears as she walked up to miguel "You okay?" She asked as he turned to her "Yeah. You?" She nodded as she turned to see the boys and her neighbor talking.

"Wait I think I know this guy, he's the jerk off who cleaned my dad's septic tank" the boys laughed again.

Elyse's phone rang in her pocket, she answered it "Hello?" She spoke as her mother's voice came through "Where are you?!"

"I'm at the mini mart. Why?" Elyse asked "Just get home now." Her mother ended the call as Elyse turned to miguel "I have to leave. Update me when you get home." He nodded as she walked away.

AFTER CLEANING THE PEPTO off, Elyse went to bed that night, the next morning she walked outside to see Miguel and Johnny talking.

"If you want my advice, just stop being so annoying." Johnny said before walking to his apartment number. Miguel sighed as Johnny walked off.

Elyse slowly walked to Miguel "What happened there?" She asked as they walked to the fountain in the middle of the building.

"Last night, Him and the guys at the mini mart fought-" Miguel started until Elyse cut him off.

"Wait! They fought! So cool." She spoke in awe as Miguel told her the story "And he did these moves, They were so badass! He said it was karate."

Elyse laughed "Karate? Who does karate. That's so old!" Miguel glared at her before laughing with her
The laughter died down as Elyse spoke up again.

"Well. Let's convince him to start his own dojo." Elyse recommended before Miguel smiled at her.

"You're gonna join?" He asked as she smiled at him "Hell yeah!" They laughed together as they thought of ways to get Johnny to open a dojo.

ELYSE SAT ON HER COUCH the next day as her mother went to work and her sister was taking a nap. Elyse thought she could do research on the sport so now she watched all kinds of karate and fighting movies. She heard a knock at the door, she got up and walked to the door. She opened it to see Miguel standing there with a grin on his face

"We're in."

okay mainly Miguel and Elyse but they are so cute! Anyways I've rushed this chapter and I hate writing fight scenes so I kinda skipped the fight part but it's okay
