TEEN MURDERED BY LOVESICK MONSTER
— Johanna Smith.
It was a lovely Friday evening in Hartford when Este Martha, one of the many students at the prestigious Chilton High, decided to go out for a stroll. Little did she know, that this might be the last stroll she would ever take.
Hours later, the sun had set, it was past dinner, and yet — Este hadn't returned home. Considering it was unusual for her behavior — she was never out past her curfew — her parents called every one of her friends to check if they'd seen her. Much to their fear, all of them denied it. When she still didn't return past midnight, Melissa and John Martha decided to call up the authorities and report her as a missing person.
Following up on the 48 hours criteria and numerous questions for anyone who knew Este, the police sent out a search team in the localities.
"Este was a good girl; she never stayed out, always made sure we knew where she was," said Melissa Martha, mother of the missing teen.
The search was out for a week, and the police were considering adding kidnapping and homicide to their list of possibilities.
The top suspect, Rohan Das, who was reportedly Este's admirer, had been asked numerous questions and was being considered to have been involved in the disappearance of Este. Before he could have been detained by the police, however, he was found dead in the dumpster behind Bobby's!, the kids' favorite pancake place in Hartford.
Forensics say that he had committed suicide by the consumption of sleeping pills. Investigations were made, and about another week later, Este's DNA was found in Rohan's car. It was later deduced in the courtroom hearing that Este was, perhaps, dead, and Rohan had been the potential murderer. The homicide might have been sexually motivated, said Detective Wilson, the lead on the case. He continued his explanation with excessive mentions of the traces of Este's hair and blood found in the trunk and on the backseat of Rohan's car. He explained that he had been told by sources that did not want to be revealed, that Rohan had had a crush on the young teenager, but she did not reciprocate his feelings, largely due to her parents' conservative beliefs.
Detective Bernard, who had assisted Wilson on the case, continued to say that Rohan was reported to have not been at home during the time of Este's disappearance, and returned later at night. He had probably returned when the family was asleep, for no one heard him come in. "That's pretty late, for a 16-year-old, because his mother said they go to bed pretty late," commented the Detective. He then said that alibis suggested Rohan was disgruntled and worried over the course of the next few days, unlike his usual behavioral patterns.
At last, it was ruled that Rohan felt guilty of killing his love, and hence, killed himself, too. Had he been alive, he would have been tried for kidnapping and homicide, and possible sexual assault, if pieces of evidence complied.
So far, Este's body has not been recovered. Searches have been stopped, for it is unsure where the body would have been hidden, or how deep the hole would have been dug.
It is only a monster's work, what Rohan has done, and may he be punished in Hell with the greatest of sinners for the murder of an innocent girl. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Marthas, who mourn the loss of their only daughter, who had great ambitions to be a doctor and help mankind.
Meanwhile, protestors and agitated members of the society have, on multiple occasions, lined up outside Rohan's house, shouted pieces of curses and cusses, and thrown rocks at the walls. Police have had to calm the mobs on numerous occasions. Perhaps, this is the beginning of his punishment.
