Face Your Fears ~ Part One
I finish tending to Tris's wounds faster than I thought I would, which gave me time to detect a twinge of rage in Tris's eyes.
She must have seen something she wasn't meant to see; felt something she wasn't meant to feel.
But that wasn't my business now, was it?
"You can go back to the dormitory now, if you want." I tell her with a small smile. I have to seem stern, but friendly also.
"Do you mind if..." She trails off, biting her lip. "If I sleep in here tonight. Just, with everything happening." She says it fast, like she's nervous. And when I stare into her eyes, I find that that is the case.
"It's fine with me. You take the bed, I'll take the floor." I say, not wanting it to seem awkward that I only have one bed and we both need sleep tonight.
I stand up from my kneel and find that my knees ache. I try not to limp a little when I walk, but I can't conceal it.
But it doesn't matter, because Tris doesn't mention it.
"And, Four?"
"Yes?" I stop walking but don't turn around.
"Thank you."
I smile a bit. My stiffness has done some good finally.
"You're welcome."

In the morning, I wake after Tris does, and at first, before I get my bearings together, I think someone has taken her away from me, thinking that I had something to do with the bruises on her face, or the redness in her beat-up muslces, but then I find the note she has written me, and I know that she is simply at breakfast.
When I get to the dining hall, I see that she is at her usual table with all of her usual friends. Only, she is crying, and Al is in front of her, looking pitiful. I smile in spite of myself.
