Can I See? Part One
As we walk through the halls to get to my room, I get more nervous by the minute.
What if I'm making her uncomfortable? What if I'm making her feel too controlled?
My horrible thoughts were interrupted when I nearly ran into the door to my room.
Not wanting to let Tris see my slip up, I put my hand on the door knob to make sure I wasn't going to fall, but to Tris, it probably just looked like I was about to open the door.
Once we were both safely inside, I was suddenly aware just how small my room was - and the fact that I was in it with Tris, a girl I fancied.
"So what do we do?" She asked, breaking me from my thoughts. I almost jumped. She hadn't spoken since the hallway.
"Uh...Whatever we want, I guess." I hoped that was the right answer.
She decided to go over to my balcony that overlooked the city.
I came up beside her and leaned against it, mirroring her.
We stand like that for a while before I break the silence.
"Why are you so mean?" I ask, realizing that I probably sound like a little kid.
"What do you mean? I can be nice." She looked at me and smiled.
"Say something nice, then."
"You look nice." She's smiling real big now.
"I could get used to this nice thing." Now I'm smiling.
She stands up for a second a laughs, and I get a glimpse of the tattoo on her collarbone. Three birds in flight.
"What does your tattoo represent?" I ask out of the blue.
"My family members I left behind when I chose Dauntless." She says with a little sadness in her eyes. Then she looks up at me. "Do you have any tattoos?"
I hesitate just for a moment. "Yeah. On my back."
"Well," she pauses. "can I see it?"
