Era of Bad News

The four of us sat in a dark room which was dimly lit by three lamps. The three guards he had came to retrieve us with stood in front of us, watching us carefully and I hadn't a clue as to why. It was creeping me out to say the least, but I did my best to ignore them.
On the other hand, I was growing incredibly impatient with Galloway who had stepped out for a moment for some unknown reason. I actually didn't really care what that reason was. All I wanted was for him to get his scrawny ass in here and tell us what he needed to tell us so I could be on my very way.
I sat back in my chair in hopes to make myself comfortable but it only made me even more restless. Galloway had now been gone for a little over ten minutes and I was becoming very agitated with him. If he didn't show up within the next five minutes I would probably just get up and leave.
"What is taking him so long?" I grumbled.
"He'll return shortly," one of the guards answered rather rudely.
I made a face, but as if on cue the door opened to reveal the lanky man. He walked over to the head of the table and sat down, throwing a pile of folders out in front of him.
"Care to tell us why we're in here?" I inquired impatiently. He shot me a look before opening up one of the file folders.
"Are we in trouble?" Sam asked him.
Galloway shook his head. "Not exactly. I just have a very important matter to discuss with you."
"What is it?" Mikaela questioned him. I folded my arms on the table, ignoring the small ounce of pain coming from my left arm.
"Sam and Mikaela, we'll start with you. How did the two of you cross paths with the Autobots?" Galloway asked.
I scrunched my eyebrows and Sam scratched his head.
"Well, I had a pair of my great grandfather's old glasses and I advertised them on eBay. They had some sort of map on it that the Autobots needed to help locate the All Spark. After that whole battle ensued, Bumblebee became my guardian and it all just took off from there. And Mikaela was my potential girlfriend during that time period. It's pretty self-explanatory," Sam explained to the man.
He simply nodded and turned his attention to me. "Azalea, how about you?"
I sighed. "Well, my dad returned home with a GMC Topkick that I wasn't familiar with. When I met Ron, or Ironhide's human form, things started changing in my life. I met a bunch of strange people including Ratchet, Optimus, Mudflap and Skids. It was only after a few mishaps and one very gnarly concussion that I finally found out what they all were," I told him.
"And I'm more than aware that you are Ironhide's mate?" Galloway asked me.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Yes. But what does that and us knowing the Autobots have to do with why we're here?"
He sighed and folded his arms across the table before looking at the three of us.
"It has to do with quite a lot actually. You three are aware that knowledge of the Autobots is classified and that information concerning the Autobots and their existence is not to be shared with any civilian who falls under the authority of the government and the president right?"
We nodded.
"What are you saying?" Sam asked.
"The president and I have come to a resolution to fix this entire mess," he spoke.
I raised a brow. "What the hell are you talking about, Galloway?" I snapped.
He glared at me. "Azalea, you would be wise to watch your tone."
I growled.
"Can you please just tell us why we're in here?" Mikaela asked me.
"Legally the three of you are civilians. You're not supposed to know about the Autobots," he started.
"It's kind of hard not to know them when they come knocking on your front door, sir," Mikaela retorted.
I was beyond confused with the meaning of his words. "All I want to know is what your goal here is," I stated.
"My goal is to keep the lives of Americans and other humans safe from this threat and you three fall into the categories of both human and American. You three are too far acquainted with the Autobots as it is. It's dangerous. They have duties to fulfill and you serve them as a distraction," he said.
I scoffed. "Since when do you care about the Autobots and their duties?"
"Since I came to the conclusion that innocent humans were being slaughtered because of their race. Their duty is to get rid of these Decepticons and they can't carry out these duties if they are focused solely on one civilian instead of the millions of others," he exclaimed.
"What are you trying to say?" Sam asked softly. I was becoming angry.
"I'm saying that when this carrier docks in Charleston within the next two days, the three of you are to cease all communication with any Autobot; you with Bumblebee, Azalea with Ironhide and Mikaela with Wheelie. You and Azalea will be transported back to Princeton and Mikaela here will be transported back to South Gate just as this entire ordeal never happened," he answered.
My eyes widened. "I'm sorry. What? What do you mean by cease all communication with the Autobots?"
"The three of you as civilians have no legal clearance to the classified information concerning the Autobots; you three as civilians are not legally cleared to know about their existence and you are not legally authorized to communicate with any of them for that matter. It is not safe for you to be involved with them.
"Once this ship docks, all interaction between the three of you and them is to end. You're not see them, you're not talk to them, you're not to even breathe in the same vicinity as them. You will leave with what you already know but if you are to breathe a word of it to anyone you will be tried for treason and you will be thrown in jail.
"The Autobots are not to communicate with you either. If any single one of you is caught interacting with a Cybertronian being, you will be thrown in jail almost immediately. If any one of them is caught interacting with you, they will be exiled without any further discussion. Do you understand me?" he explained.
My breath caught in my throat. A mix of angry and sad tears burned my eyes at the sound of his words. This couldn't be happening.
"How can you do this to us? They're our family, our friends! You can't take them away from us," Sam yelled. Mikaela grabbed my hand. I just honestly didn't know how to respond to this. It was as if I had nothing left to say.
"Presidential orders, Mister Witwicky!" Galloway shot back.
I looked at Galloway. "My dad works with the Autobots! How do you expect me not to communicate with them?"
He stood up and slammed a hand on the table. "Miss Lennox, you will obey my orders unless you want to spend the rest of your natural life in a lonely prison cell."
I could scream right now.
"Your direct line to Autobot communication links from any electronic device is being disabled. Their ability to receive incoming alerts from anyone but the NEST team and the Autobots themselves is going to be disconnected. You will not be able to contact them from any cell phone, any land line, or even a damn pager," Galloway spat at us.
I stood up, the tears flowing steadily down my face. Sam and Mikaela were even crying by now. "You can't do this! I have spent the past two years of my life with the Autobots," I told him.
"And those are the first and last two you'll ever get with them. Have I made myself clear? No interactions whatsoever. Your free passes have been revoked," he said.
I squeezed my eyes shut. My mate was being separated from me and the odds of seeing him again after we docked were slim. It made me sick to my stomach and made me hate this piece of shit human even more than I did before.
"Did I not just tell you days ago that I didn't need you or anyone else giving me clearance to see the Autobots? And they're not your puppets. You can't keep them closed away from the world and you most certainly can't tell them who they can't see," I seethed.
He sighed. "As I said to your friend here this wasn't my decision; this is the president's. This is for your safety! And as long as they are residing on our planet they will abide by our planet's rules."
Sam stood up this time. "Do they even know you're doing this?" he yelled.
"They will in two days time," Galloway replied.
This response sent a certain fury through my body. Without thinking, I jumped onto the table and quickly ran across it before the guards could get to me or before Mikaela and Sam could stop me. I swung my right hand back and delivered a hard smack to Galloway's face. My hand stung, but I didn't care.
"You can't do this to me! You can't do this to them," I yelled as I hit him again.
Before I could hit him again, I was being grabbed. I kicked my leg to try and get loose but instead I hit Galloway in the side of the head; I wasn't complaining about it at all but the guard's grip around my waist tightened.
"Let me go," I screamed as the tears ran down my face. He threw me over his shoulder and I thrashed around in an attempt to get free but he refused to let me go. If anything his grip only tightened, slightly hurting my back.
"Get her out of my face," Galloway seethed.
I cried harder.
"No! Let me go! Please don't do this to me!" I screamed loudly as the guard walked quickly out of the door.
I hit his back as hard as I could with my right hand and kicked with all my might, but he didn't budge and I cried out in pain as he squeezed me hard in an attempt to restrain me.
"Let me go! Please!" I cried as he continued down the hallway.
I heard rushed footsteps and then the guard stopped, though I had no idea why. My tears blurred my vision and I could barely see where I was. I thrashed around again, trying to get him to let me go but he wouldn't.
"I suggest you release her immediately," I heard Ironhide say.
I cried harder when I remembered what Galloway had just said to me. "Put me down," I whimpered.
This time the guard listened and placed me down rather roughly on the floor. I got up quickly and ran over to Ironhide's lesser form who grabbed me by the arm and shifted himself in front of me in a protective notion. I hadn't even noticed my dad standing beside him.
"What is going on here? Who do you think you are putting your hands on my daughter?" my dad yelled as he got in the guard's face.
I just buried my face into Hide's shirt. "Please don't leave me," I cried.
He pulled me away from his body and looked down at me. As much as I wanted to quit crying, I just couldn't. I didn't even think it was possible to cry harder but I was proven wrong. All I had was two days left and then I wouldn't get to see him anymore. It literally pained me.
"What happened in there?" he asked me.
I just shook my head and looked down at the floor. If I talked about it, I'd probably lose it and I didn't want that. He placed both hands on my cheeks and lifted my face up so that I was looking at him.
"Azalea, I need you to tell me," he said worriedly.
"I can't. Just please don't leave me. Please don't," I cried.
Sadness flickered in his eyes and he hugged me tightly, his arms wrapping around me protectively and comfortingly. I let out a sob into his shirt and wrapped my arms around him, never wanting to let go of him though I would have to sooner or later.
"I would never leave you, Lea," he whispered to me.
He kissed the crown of my head and I felt a sense of comfort in my body, yet my feelings of anger and sadness were dominant. I just couldn't believe this was actually happening to me.
