Chapter 69 : Payback Time
Outside Oddey's hospital room, Gage went out to buy his Juliet the spicy cup noodle that she wanted from the pantry. Unknown to him, his father was just nearby and in disguise as one of the male nurses there. He wore a facemask so he wouldn't be recognized by his son if they bumped into each other.
Adrian watched Gage walk farther until he went inside the elevator. It was his chance to execute whatever he was planning. He even took a wheelchair and pushed it to the hallways.
Afterward, he knocked first once he got to the room. "Come in," Oddey said from the inside. So the man did. Inside, the young lady was surprised to see a male nurse bringing in a wheelchair. "Uhm... Yes?"
"The doctor wants you to be checked in the MRI," the man said while trying to alter his voice, then slowly approached her.
"MRI? No one told me I needed that."
"Well, now you do. The doctor just requested it now." Adrian was getting closer, and his hands were out, ready to grab her. "Here, I'll help you get on that wheelchair."
It did seem something was wrong, Oddey started fearing for her safety that she wanted to back away. "I want to see the doctor."
"Just let me help you." The sinister man's hand was reaching towards her.
"No! Get away from me!" The poor girl wanted to get away, but there was no use because Adrian had his hand on her mouth before she could scream for help, making it hard to breathe.
Unfortunately, since Oddey could not fight back like last time, due to having one arm being gauzed up due to the gunshot, there was no use. Her attacker just kept pressing his palm on her mouth so hard that she was starting to weaken and then passed out the next second.
The plan was successful, and the unconscious girl was placed in the wheelchair with a beanie on her head and a facemask covering part of her face. Adrian managed to get her out without any suspicions.
They went through the corridor until a nurse spotted them since she recognized Oddey's eyes even though they were closed and her hands that were exposed on the armrest. "Excuse me, where are you taking this patient?" she asked.
"MRI," Adrian answered, hoping it was convincing.
"Really? Because this isn't the way to go there."
That was when the evil man quickly took out a gun and then pointed it at the nurse. "Well, then get out of my way!" he snarled.
It caused an immediate panic in the corridor. Everyone was screaming and running away from there, while Adrian had the gun out. The nurse backed away slowly, feeling fearful for her life. "Please, don't," she begged.
The man carried Oddey over his shoulder. "Stay where you are," he demanded. "Or I'll shoot her head off." Then aimed the weapon at her.
----
Down in the lobby, no one was alerted yet that a madman was taking a patient, and waving a gun around. Gage was about to get back to the floor where his girlfriend was.
Not long after the alarm was on, and red blinking lights blinking inside the building. The other security guard instructed everyone in the hospital to exit accordingly. "What's going on?" he asked.
"A man is taking a patient from her room in the fourth floor, and he has a gun," the guard answered.
"Fourth floor!" Gage gasped in horror, then was about to ran off afterward to save her.
The young man got there using the elevator, saw that there were still a handful of people around screaming, and got away from there. After that, he rushed to Oddey's room and was shocked that she was not there, knowing she was not capable of escaping from harm.
"No. No. No." Once he went out the corridor, he bumped into the nurse who encountered the unconscious girl with the Gage's father. "Where's Oddey?" he asked her.
"She was taken," the nurse whimpered and was shaking from fright. "By some... man."
"Who? What man!?"
"I... I don't know."
"Okay, where are they?" The Romeo questioned.
"By the corridor over there." The nurse pointed.
Gage hurriedly went to the hallway. He could hear a familiar voice, and then as he kept running, that was when he saw his father wearing a nurse's uniform carrying the senseless girl.
Three other security guards were surrounding him and pointing their guns at him. "Dad!" he reacted. He quickly went to the side to call his mother. "Mom, it's me. Tell Officer Diaz to come here to the hospital fast. Dad is here."
"Get back, or I'll shoot her!" His father shouted to the guards.
Alarmed, the Romeo had to appear and show himself to him. " Dad! No!" he cried.
"Gage." Adrian was stunned to see his son, and that he had to see that his own father taking his girlfriend, planning only God-know-what to her if he was not caught by that nurse.
"Get out of here! It's not safe," one of the guards told the the young man.
"He's my Dad," Gage said, then turned to his father. "Dad, what the hell are you doing?"
"What I had to," the evil man answered and gazed at his son with a death stare. "I'm not going to let Hal win." Then shot one of the security guards in the chest to get a distraction so he could get away, and it worked.
"Dad!"
"I'm sorry, son. If I had to go down, he should go down with me," Adrian said. He escaped with Oddey by going to the emergency escape while the guard, whom he shot, was lying on the floor bleeding.
Gage was about to go after his father, but a guard stopped him by grabbing his jacket and pulling him back. "Let go. I'm going to get my Dad!" he grunted.
"I understand, but we can't let you go after him," the security guard replied. "Security protocol, and it's dangerous"
"He's getting away."
"No, he's not. Every exit here is close. All patients and staff are outside, which is where you should be. Come on, I'll take you there."
"But he got my friend..." The Romeo squirmed.
"We'll do everything we can to save her," the guard assured her. "But we can't do that if you're on the way."
There was no use arguing, so Gage gave up debating about it. "Fine," he exasperated, then reluctantly listened, and went away with him.
About a moment passed, and Gage was being escorted out. As they were on their way to the main entrance. Though he could not help, but be pissed that he could not save his Juliet due to security protocol.
All of a sudden, the security guard's walkie-talkie was on. "Subject is seen heading to the west wing that's under construction. I repeat. The subject is seen heading to the west wing that's under construction," the caller informed.
Luckily for Gage, he heard that and then he looked up and saw signage since there were directions to the wards in the hospital. It even showed where the west wing was.
Afterward, he noticed the guard was distracted since he was answering the message on his walkie-talkie. That was when he got his chance. Gage just bolted before the guard could even react.
The Romeo ran, yet was being chased. Good thing he was fast enough to get to the double door, close it, and then lock it with an IV pole by the door handle. "Sorry, I had to do this," Gage said to him, then continued running the other way to search his Juliet. "Don't worry, Oddey, I'm coming. Hang in there."
Gage just ran to the hallways trying to find the west wing since there was no more signage to lead him to save his Juliet. Regardless, he was not going to give up until he found her and his despicable father.
----
Outside, patients were being transferred to another hospital, and police cars were surrounding the area. Eventually, Leon came with Eva, not knowing what was going on first until seeing so many people, ambulances, and police cars around.
They exited the car looking confused, then were surprised to see Marie among the crowds being frantic, and Officer Diaz tried to calm her down.
"What do you mean my son is still inside?!" She screamed in anger at the guard who was so supposed to accompany Gage to get out. "How could you let him...!?"
"Marie!" Her ex-husband went to her with his fiance. "What is going on?"
"Adrian Munro is inside," the cop answered instead since Marie was too choked up and crying to say anything.
"What!?"
"NO!" Eva began to cry.
"I'm afraid he has your daughter," Officer Diaz added.
"Gage is also in there, trying to rescue her," Marie uttered in a shakey tone.
"Do something to save them!" Leon demanded the policeman. "What are you standing here for?"
"We will, but the subject is armed," The cop answered. "He just shot one person."
"Oh! My God," Eva gasped, thinking that could happen to the young couple since he had shot Oddey.
"That son of a BITCH!!" The Juliet's father fumed that his daughter was in danger at the hands of the man once again who also nearly killed him. "Just save my daughter."
All of a sudden, Marie's phone rang, but it was an unknown number. Still, she answered the call. "Hello?" she answered.
"Hello, my dear wife," A person said, and she recognized the voice because it was her husband's.
"Adrian," Marie gasped. The others heard her so they gathered around her to listen to their conversations. "What have you done this time?"
"Put it to speaker," the officer whispered, and so she did.
"Sorry, I haven't been in touch for days," Adrian mocked. "How are you?"
"Adrian, what are you up to?"
"It's payback time, Marie. You understand"
"Where's Gage? Is he with you?" Marie asked.
"He was until I had to escape," the evil man answered nonchalantly.
Leon had enough, so he decided to intervene. He snatched his ex-wife's phone from her hand to confront his nemesis, "You Bastard, where's my daughter? What are you going to do with her?" He groaned.
"Hal, old pal," Adrian chuckled. "Don't worry, she's with me, and I haven't killed her. Yet."
"You son of a bitch."
The cop grabbed the phone from Leon. "Mr. Munro, just tell us what you want. Just don't hurt Odette," He negotiated.
"What do I want? Hmm... I want a lot of things," Adrian said sarcastically. "But sadly, I can't have them back. I lost everything, my job, my reputation, and my family. All because of that man who ruined it all for me."
Wanting to punch him through the phone, Leon had to bite his tongue for the sake of Oddey's safety. He was afraid to provoke him one bit since he had the upper hand.
"Although, there's one thing I want," The sinister man added. "I want Leon Magnum to come here if he wants his daughter alive."
Every one of them had their eyes on the CEO. Leon had no choice, yet though he would do anything with no hesitation, "Alright, I'll be there," he said.
"Leon, No! You don't have to do this. Don't you see? He's just playing you." Eva wept as she embraced her fiance. "I want Oddey safe no matter what, but not like this. There's got to be another way."
"She's right," Officer Diaz interjected. "We can still save your daughter without anyone getting hurt."
"You don't know Adrian like I do, Officer. He's ruthless," Leon told the cop. "He attempted to kill me in prison a long time ago, and look what he's doing to my daughter."
"I understand your fear, but we know how to handle this. Trust me."
"Alright, as long as I'm the one facing him."
