Ruth’s POV

As I lay on my bed, I was wishing that I just opened my mouth and said those two simple little words. But I wasn’t ready to talk yet. It was a big step for me using the family/sibling bond with Jubal. I smile when I heard him coming up the stairs. He would check on me every five minutes it seemed, but I didn’t mind. It was nice to finally have someone act like they care.

I felt like I was sitting in a fire. But I knew it was the alpha’s blood changing me. I had been in bed for a day, and my fever kept getting higher. Jubal called the pack doctor but he said that I would be fine. As far as he knew, no one had ever died from using the old method of joining a pack.

Oliver texted me twice, but I didn’t feel up to talking to him. On the second day, the fever had left my body. I was able to move around slowly without feeling pain. I was sitting on my bed watching CSI: NY when Jubal stuck his head in my room. I’m fine Jubal. Do you wanna watch with me? I ask nodding towards the tv.

I’d love to but I just got a call from Jeff. Will you be fine until I get back?

          I guess. Just make sure you lock the door when you leave. He nods and leaves. The front door shuts and I hear the lock click. Getting a craving for pizza I ask Jubal if I could order a pizza. He said I could but only if I got one for him. Grabbing my phone, I text Oliver. –Hey Jack, are you working?

          -Not today. What’s up?

          -I was wondering if you could pick up a couple of pizzas and come over for a movie night.

          -Could I bring some friends? I nibble on my lip. I had to make friends somehow, might as well start now. –I guess, but they have to bring their own pizza. The second pizza I want you to pick up is for my brother.

          -lol I’ll make sure they bring their own food.

          -How many are you bringing?

          -Just four, is that fine?

          -Yeah, I’ll let my brother know I’m having some friends over. I’ll pay you for the pizza.

          -Don’t worry about it. I got it covered.

          -I’ll owe you a favor then.

          -I’ll see you see. I link with Jubal. Hey, would it be fine if I had few friends over for a movie night?

          Who are they?

          Oliver Jackz and a couple of his friends, is that alright?

          I guess. Just tell them that if they bother you in any way, they will have to answer to me.

          Haha. I’ll tell them. Jackz is picking up the pizza for me. I’ll see you when you get back. And thanks again mi hermano. Wait, is Oliver a werewolf?

          He is. And that’s the only reason I’m letting him come over. I’m sure that his friends will be part of the pack as well. I sigh and shake my head. He has taken the role of the protective brother rather seriously, but I liked it. I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror and I frown. There’s no way that I would be watching a movie with a guys, especially since they might all look as handsome as Jackz was.

Throwing open my closet; I scan the hangers before pulling out a pair of dark blue straight leg jeans with a long sleeve blue and red shirt. I quickly brush my hair and slip it into a pony tail.

          Running to the den, I make sure it’s clean before I pulled out several movies and laid them on the coffee table. Remembering that I left mom’s necklace on my bed, I rush up the stairs to my room and grab it. I slip it on as the door bell rings. I sigh and walk slowly back down. I open the door and found Oliver and several of the guys I saw at Starbuck’s with him. My eyes scan the group before falling on Oliver and I smile.

“Hey Ruthie.” Oliver says as he hands me the pizzas. I take them and smile shyly. I step back and motion them to come in. Heading to the kitchen, I sit Jubal’s pizza in the fridge and take out several cans of Coke and Sprite.

          Oliver takes the drinks while I take the pizza. Then they follow me to the den. “So, Ruthie,” one of the starts to say and Oli growls at him, “Ruth, how long are you staying here?” Taking a note pad from the table I look for a pen. Oliver hands me one from his pocket. I smile at him. I’m here to stay with my brother.

          “Who’s your brother?”

          Jubal Boaz. Several stare at me with their eyes wide, and my mate looked nervous. “But…But you don’t look like him that much.”

          We have the same mother, but different fathers. So, Oliver, are you going to introduce me to your ‘gang’? He laughed and pointed to each of the guys. “This is Noah, Sam, Thane and Cotton.” I nod at them and they wave at me.

          I put a few movies on the table there and there’s more in the cubby hole. I show them the page and Thane heads to the cubby hole while Cotton looks through the ones I picked. I had Oculus, Devil’s Due and a few others. Cotton holds up Oculus and I just shrug. Horror movies weren’t my favorite, but I figured that if they wanted to watch it, then I could at least stay in the room and try to watch it as well.

          I walk to the couch and sit down. I open my pizza box, grab three slices and pass the box to Oli. “Are you sure Ruthie? You only had one piece and I brought some snacks of my own.” I just smile and shrug my shoulders turning my head back to the TV just as the movie started. Thane jumped up and turned the lights off. I should have put Frozen out.

Three movies later and I was just about ready to run from the room. I hear the door open and smelled Jubal as he walked in the house. “Ruth, I’m home.” He calls, and I watched as everyone except for Oli tense at the sound of his voice. They were scared of him. I jump to my feet and run to the hallway.

After I hugged Jubal, I heard the guys behind me. I turned to face them and Oli smiled at me. “Thanks for having us over Ruthie. We have to go, but we’ll see you later.” They nod at Jubal as they quickly slip out of the house. Jubal looks at me confused, but I just roll my eyes at him.

I hand Jubal his pizza box and jump onto the counter. He slides half the pizza into the microwave. I jump off the counter. I have to go clean the den bubba, and then I’m going to bed. I’ll see you in the morning. I love you.

          Love you to Ruth. Have a good night. I smile at him and head to the den. But I stop short when I see that everything was clean. Turning off the lights, I climb the stairs slowly. Reaching my room, I quickly slip into some pjs and slip into bed.
