3- The Hat
"Robin you can come out now!" I said, trying to convince myself it was a trick.
No response came. My voice echoed through the woods.
"I give up Robin!" I yelled, expecting Robin to come out laughing.
But he didn't.
That's when I ran around screaming like crazy for Robin. My best friend. Where was he?
"ROBIN!" I shouted. I could hear my voice echo. I heard the trees sway. But I couldn't hear Robin.
That's when I ran all the way home. It wasn't far. Me and Robin lived on the same road, adjacent to the woods. I sprinted as much as I could. I shouted and shouted for Robin, in hope that he would be in the streets. He wasn't.
I finally reached my house. I banged on the door as loud as I could. The door opened and I was greeted by the smiling faces of my mum and Robin's mum. They wouldn't be happy for long, I thought.
I was a mess. I pushed past them and started crying and crying, getting all mixed up in my words. It was too overwhelming for me. Was Robin gone forever?
"Oh darling, don't worry. Did the woods scare you?" My mum said.
"Yes, hold on sweetie, speak slowly, tell us everything." Robin's mum said.
I started to cry even more.
How could I tell someone that their son was probably eaten alive by crocodiles?
Suddenly, a voice interrupts my thoughts.
"Don't be silly darling, there's no crocodiles in the woods" Robin's mum said.
I guess I spoke my thoughts by accident.
"No!" I shouted, "you don't understand! It's all real! Come with me I'm not kidding! Robin could be in danger! Please!"
The two mothers looked at each other, then at me. They both stood up.
"You better not be lying" my mum warned me, "this kind of stuff isn't funny"
"I promise! It's real!" I replied, whilst looking back to see Robin's mum whispering to my mum.
I heard her say 'what if it is real? I've lost my husband already, I can't lose another one!'.
Robin's dad ran away from home when Robin was 4, nobody knows why.
I guided them to the woods, tears rolling down my cheeks.
I took them to the hat.
Only, it had moved. I'm certain it moved. I also saw markings on the bank, like someone had clawed at it with their hands. Robin's hands. I didn't mention anything to the mums standing behind me.
At least, I thought they were behind me.
"ROBIN!" Robin's mum was calling out for her son.
I knew it was no use.
I waited until she calmed down. Then she hugged me, crying.
In the distance I heard my mum phoning the police, asking for a search team.
"It will all be okay" I told Robin's mum, lying through my teeth. I knew it wouldn't.
I broke out of the hug, as I heard police sirens coming nearer.
Lucky you! I gave you a whole new part!
Where's Robin?
Will the police find him?
OoOOOoOoO
I don't know either tbh
I have no clue where this story is going 😂
