Chapter 5

A/N: Friendly reminder, this fic does NOT follow the original OUAT story what so ever. If you don't like that. turn back now :P I also have no idea how the fuck sword fighting works so if the description is lacking, yeah thats why.

Kassidy spent the rest of the morning looking through the Captains things, he hadn't chained her so she assumed she was free to roam however she was not about to follow him when he was in the mood he was in. She found her satchel that she had taken with her the night he kidnapped her and looked through it. She pulled out her Tiara and and put it back in its place on the top of her head and looked in the mirror. Something about it didn't seem right. She had to know what her father did to this man. She looked at a portrait of a woman that was hung on the side of the mirror. This must have been Milah why else would he have a portrait of a random woman?
"Princess!" Hook boomed before barging into his quarters. He stopped and looked at her for a moment.
"What are you doing?" He asked. "Are you going through my things?"
"Well.. no. actually this is mine." Kassidy said holding her Tiara.
"Well, considering you belong to me, that also belongs to me so yes, you are going through my things." He said. Kassidy put the tiara down and crossed her arms glaring at him.
"Come, princess. You have an execution to attend."
"I will not watch you kill those men!" Kassidy spat.
"Yes. You will." Hook said and grabbed her arm pulling her with him and up the steps to the deck.

She looked at the three men who were standing with their hands bound behind their backs.
"Princess!" One of them gasped. "Unhand her pirate!" He hissed.
Kassidy looked at Hook with pleading eyes.
"Please. Don't do this." She begged.
"Oh, I'm going to do this. However I am feeling generous. I will spare one of their lives. Though, you will be choosing who lives and who dies."
"I..can't possibly do that." Kassidy said.
"Choose, or they all die"
"These men have wives. Children. Hook I am begging you if you have just a shred of humanity don't do this. Whatever it was my father did, I apologize on his behalf."
"Thats precious." Hook smirked. "Now, not only are You going to choose who lives. You are going to kill the two who die." He said and put a sword in her hand and pushed her forward. "Tick tock princess."
Kassidy looked at the three men.
"You don't have to do this." One of them spoke up. "We have all accepted death." He smiled.
"None of you should have to die. What did my father do to this man?" She asked.
"I'm afraid I don't know princess." He replied.
"Make your choice princess!" Hook snapped.

Kassidy shook her head and turned around with the sword pointed at him.
"I will not choose. It is my duty to protect my people, If you must kill someone, kill me."
"How noble of you." Hook spat. "If only you knew the kind of people you were protecting."
"Enlighten me Captain." Kassidy said and shrugged.
"I gave you an order and unless you'd like to spend the rest of your life in chains you will do as I say princess."
"No. If you wont kill me, then allow me to fight for their lives." She suggested.
Hook laughed.
"How about you put the sword down before you hurt yourself princess." He smirked.
"You know by now that I'm more than just ball gowns and crowns Captain. I propose, that if I best you in a swordfight, you let them go next time you make port. If you win, you can kill them and I will do whatever you say from there on."
"This is adorable, really princess." Hook said and quirked an eyebrow.
"Are you going to fight me? Or are you afraid of being bested by a princess Captain?" Kassidy smirked.
"Fine, I will humor you princess. It would be my personal pleasure to knock you off of your pedestal." He said and drew his sword.
"Princess. Don't do this." one of the men behind her said.
"Don't tell me what to do." Kassidy said and stepped forward.

"Alright lets get this over with." Hook said obviously amused as the two of them circled each other. Kassidy took a defensive Stance and blocked his first advance.
"Come on Captain, is that the best you can do?" She asked.
"I'm just getting started love." He grinned and the duel began. Hook had to admit, he was rather impressed that she was more than able to hold her own with a sword. What the hell kind of princess was she? Every attack she parried and came back full force and she wasn't missing a single step. She swung her sword high and knicked his cheek. He growled and lunged forward she blocked his advance yet again with grace and speed.
"Getting tired Captain?"
"What magic are you using?" He asked accusingly
"Magic? I'm not using magic!" Kassidy spat obviously offended. "I like a fair fight Captain."
"Aye." He grunted and blocked her next strike and swung his sword cutting her right shoulder. She cried out.
"Oh I bet that stings." He smirked. She narrowed her eyes and lunged forward with everything she had. Hook backed up as she came at him slashing and swinging. He spun and swept her legs out from under her and kicked the sword from her hand when she hit the deck and pressed the tip of his blade to her throat. It was over.

Kassidy's grey eyes were full of loss as she knew her failure meant the lives of three of her fathers men. Three men she knew well, as well as their families. Hook pulled his sword back and put it in its sheath and extended his hand. Kassidy hesitantly took his hand and he helped her to her feet. Kassidy put a hand over her cut shoulder.
"You won. Their lives are yours, as is mine." She said not taking her eyes off of his.
"Aye. Yours is. You proved to be quite a formidable opponent, princess. You fought for their lives and you fought well. They will be freed when we make port."
"Why..would you do this?" Kassidy asked completely taken aback by the Captains compassion.
"Don't question my reasoning. I won, and I will still hold you to the second half of your terms. You do as I say, when I say from here on out."
Kassidy nodded. "Yes..Captain." If this was what had to be done to protect what she could of her father's people, so be it.
"Good." He said and instructed his men to take the prisoners back to the hold until they made port.

Kassidy sat quietly at the dining table in the Captain's quarters eating, with Hook sitting across from her.
"Do I get my own bed?" She asked.
"Would you rather sleep with the rest of the crew?" Hook asked. "They're an obedient lot, but they are men and they are lonely." He smirked. Kassidy shuddered.
"No... I will stay in here, but I request to sleep on the floor."
"Fine by me." Hook shrugged and gestured to the cut on her arm. "You really should get that tended to."
"Oh. I can do it." Kassidy said and placed her hand over it, her palm glowed and the wound healed itself. Hook raised an eyebrow. "No more magic on my ship."
"But why? Its not that bad it can be us-"
"That was an order." He barked. Kassidy sat back and sighed.
"Fine." She mumbled and they sat in silence again finishing their meal.

Kassidy was making herself a spot on the floor in front of the bed with a pillow and a blanket she glanced up at Hook who was sitting at his desk looking over a map.
"May I ask a question?" She asked. Hook sighed.
"What is the nature of this question?" He asked.
"Its about my father."
"Then no." Hook replied. Kassidy groaned.
"I just want to know what it was that he did." Kassidy said. "I deserve to know why I was taken."
"What you deserve princess, is exactly what he did t-" He stopped himself. "Be quiet, and sleep."
"I slept for three days I'm not tired."
"Well then be quiet."
"But I-"
"Be quiet or you'll be gagged." He snapped. Kassidy sighed and flopped backwards and laid her head on the pillow. The floor was not comfortable but she was not about to willingly share a bed with him.

Hook woke to Kassidy crying quietly. He sighed and tried to cover his ears and ignore the girl but the sniffles and the sobs were becoming annoying really fast.
"Bloody hell." he muttered and rolled out of bed. He walked around to the end of the bed and crouched down beside her.
"Why on earth are you crying?" He asked.
"I didn't mean to wake you. I'll.. just go outside." Kassidy said and went to stand up but Hook pulled her back.
"I asked you a question." he said.
"Why do you care?"
"Because, the sooner you tell me why you are crying, the sooner I can try to fix it, and the sooner I can go back to sleep."
"I want to go home." She shrugged.
"Well, you can't."
"Why? Why did you take me? Just tell me!"
"Because your father took someone I loved from me!" Hook hissed.
"My father wouldn't do that." Kassidy said and shook her head.
"He would, and he did. Long before he sat on that throne long before you were ever thought of." Hook said.
Kassidy stood and shook her head again in disbelief.
"My father is a kind man and he would never hurt anyone!" She said defensively.
Hook growled and pushed her into the wall. Kassidy flinched as his face was inches from hers. "Your father is a liar, and a coward!" He spat venomously. "Ask those men below. They told you they didn't know because they would have been disobeying a direct order from their king had they told you otherwise. Ask them how your father built his kingdom on the blood of the woman I loved! Everything you know about your life, and your precious kingdom is a lie!" He hissed into her ear.
Kassidy shook her head with tears in her eyes. "No." She said.
 "Yes!"
Kassidy pushed him off of her.
"The only liar is you! My father never would have done that!"
"Oh but he did princess, and you think he stopped there?" Hook asked. "Tell me love, how did your mother die?"
"She died giving birth to me.." Kassidy said and looked down.
Hook chuckled. "Thats precious."
"She did! Why would he lie about that?!" Kassidy screamed
"To cover up the fact that he murdered her for giving him YOU instead of the son he wanted! But then you grew and he learned to love you." Kassidy reared back and slapped him hard across the face.
"You are a liar, if he killed your love, why didn't you just kill him? Why take me?"
"Because. I want him to feel the pain that I felt so I took the only thing he loved. I thought about doing to you what he did to Milah. Killing you, cutting your bloody heart from your chest right in front of him. Just as he did, but it wasn't enough. So now for the rest of his days he will wonder just what I've done with his precious little princess." Hook smiled and pushed a lock of hair out of her eyes.
 Kassidy slapped his hand away.
"Don't you touch me!" She yelled and ran out of the cabin.

Kassidy ran down to the hold, where one of Hooks men stood guard.
"I need to see those men." She said.
"No can do princess."
Kassidy clenched her fist and it became engulfed in flames.
"NOW!" She screamed.
The man stepped out of the way and let her through. Kassidy walked in and looked at the three men and paced.
"What is it princess? What has he done? Has he hurt you?" One asked.
"No, James. He hasn't. I need you to look me in the eyes and I need you to swear to me that my father did not kill this man's love." Kassidy said.
James looked down at the floor
. "So... its true then. My father is a murderer."
"Princess.. You don't understand." James said.
"What I understand is that everything I know about my father, and my kingdom and these people I protect is a lie! Why would he kill her?"
"Because he loved her, and she ran away with the captain. This was long long before you princess. Long before your mother."
"You don't kill the people you love, and you don't take love from others! That is not how you build a kingdom!" Kassidy said with tears falling down her face. "And my mother? Is what he said about my mother true too? Did he kill her because I wasn't born a son?"
James looked to the floor again. Kassidy backed into the wall and slid down to the floor in a sobbing mess. Everything she knew. Everything she was taught to believe about pirates being monsters and all this time she was living with the true monster.

The next morning Kassidy stood at the bow of the ship watching the calm waters. She had been out here all night and it was the only peace she had gotten. She looked down at her Tiara in her hands and all she could see was blood. The blood of Hooks love, and the blood of her mother. "Have you learned the truth princess?" Hook asked as he approached her.
"Have you come to gloat?" Kassidy asked bitterly and looked up at him with tear stained cheeks and red eyes.
"No. I had a chat with Mr. Smee this morning. He says you've been out here all night."
"I have." Kassidy said and looked back towards the water.
"Do you still want to go home princess?" Hook asked.
"I don't know what home is anymore Captain." Kassidy said and looked down at the tiara in her hands before throwing it into the sea. "Please don't call me princess. Just Kassidy." She said. "But you are a princess." Hook said.
"I don't wish to be, and I hate to ruin your plan for vengeance Captain, but I will no longer be held here against my will. I am here, from this day forward because I choose it." She said and walked away from him.
