Chapter 7

Later that Saturday evening, after getting the opinions of the Bakers and his family, Donnie decided he wanted to tell two more people he knew he could trust.

Donnie: I think I should tell Justin and Jess.

Once Donnie sent that single-sentenced text to Hannah, he waited for a few minutes until he got a reply.

Hannah: You do?

Donnie: Yeah. I trust them both enough, and I want to tell them my secret.

Hannah: Did you get the "ok" to do that? Or do you truest them enough to just go ahead and tell them?

Donnie: Asked both your parents and mine on what they thought about it. They said it was fine as long as I trusted them and felt like they could keep my secret.

Hannah: Ok, then. When do you want to tell them?

Donnie: I'm planning on meeting them at the park in a little and telling them there. You can come along too, if you'd like. Well, actually, I'd probably feel better if you were there too.

Hannah: Ok. And I'd be happy to be there when you tell them, Donnie.

Donnie: Great, thanks, Hannah!

After ending his conversation with Hannah, Donnie decided to text Justin and Jessica indicidually, deciding to text Jessica first.

Donnie: Hey, Jess.

Jessica: Hey, Clay. What is the honorable reason for you texting me this fine Saturday? :)

Donnie: Well, I was wondering if you'd meet me at the park in half an hour. I kinda have something really important I need to tell both you and Justin.

Jessica: Sure, Clay. Want me to tell Justin and we both can just meet you there?

Donnie: If you don't mind, that would be great.

Jessica: Ok! I'll let Justin know, and we'll meet you at the park in half an hour.

After getting that reply from Jessica, Donnie decided to go ahead and leave so he and Hannah could walk to the park together.

"You ready?" Hannah asked with a gentle smile as she stepped out of her house, closing the front door behind her. Donnie simply nodded his head as the two started walking down Hannah's driveway and towards the park where he had first told Hannah just a few nights ago.

"Hey, Clay. What is it you wanted to tell us?" Justin greeted as he and Jessica walked over to where Donnie and Hannah were seated at a small wooden picnic table. "And no offense, but why is Hannah here?" Justin added curiously. "She's here because she already knows about what I have to tell you guys." Donnie explained. "You might want to sit down." Hannah added, Donnie nodding in agreement. Jessica and Justin shared confused, worried looks as they sat down at the table, Jessica on Donnie's right side and Justin directly across from him since Hannah was already sitting on Donnie's left side. "It's kind of a long story, so you might want to just let me explain everything before you ask me any questions." Donnie said, getting nods from Jessica and Justin before starting his explanation.

Once he finished speaking, Donnie took notice of how Jessica and Justin were quiet, taking in everything he had just told them. "So, your real name is Donnie, and not Clay?" Jessica asked. "Correct. Clay is just a cover, if you will, to protect me." Donnie explained. "So, I assume you want us to call you Clay anywhere public?" Justin asked. Donnie nodded. "Yes. But you can use my real name when no one is around." Donnie told them. "Wait, so this power-thing you mentioned." Jessica started. "Can you really freeze stuff?" Justin asked, finishing what his girlfriend was going to ask. Donnie smiled slightly to himself, knowing they were going to ask about his power. "I can. But I can also kind of make stuff out of ice too, if that makes sense." Donnie explained. "Can you maybe show us?" Jessica asked. Donnie glanced around their surroundings, being extra careful by making sure no one else was around to see this. After seeing that the coast was clear, Donnie proceeded to lift his right arm a little ways above the flat surface of the table, moving his hand a little as a small ice tower began to form out of thin air, much like when he showed Hannah a few nights ago. Both Jessica and Justin watched in amazememt. "So, you can do that, but you can also freeze things. Can you freeze pretty much anything, or just small things?" Justin asked. "I haven't really had to yet, but I can freeze practically anything. Going from small or large objects to people." Donnie said. "And trust me, it's a miracle how Bryce is not already frozen in a dark alley somewhere." Donnie said, smirking slightly at the end. Hannah, Jessica, and Justin all cracked smiles at Donnie's statement. "Thanks for telling us all this, Donnie." Jessica suddenly said, placing a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder. "Yeah! I'm glad you trust us enough to tell us that." Justin said with a genuinely warm smile. "Well, like I said to Hannah when I told her. Thanks for letting me tell you." Donnie said, flashing a small warm smile of his own. "Hey, I know Hannah has her own nickname for you, but can I give you one too?" Justin suddenly asked, smirking mischievously at the black haired boy. "That depends." Donnie said jokingly. "What would it be?" He asked, genuinely curious. Justin pretended to think for a few minutes as the others stared at him. "Blizzard." He simply said, clearly proud of himself for coming up with that name. Donnie thought about Justin's nickname suggestion, mumbling it to himself before smiling. "I like it." He said, giving Justin an approving nod. "Blizzard it is then. But no one else can use that name!" Justin said, getting defensive with his nickname. Jessica and Hannah just laughed. "Relax. No one's going to steal that nickname from you, Justin. Especially since no one else knows about this." Jessica reassured her boyfriend, stating the last bit as a question as she directed it towards Donnie. The boy nodded. "Besides our parents, you three are the only people who know so far." Donnie said, gesturing between Hannah and himself when he mentioned their parents. "Are you going to tell the others too, though?" Justin asked, referring to the rest of their friends. "Slowly, but eventually, yes." Donnie replied. Jessica wrapped her left arm around Donnie's shoulders, pulling him into an unexpected side hug. "Well, you can definitely trust us. We'll keep your secret safe, no matter what." She told him. Donnie smiled as he returned the hug, wrapping his arm around the girl's waist. "Thanks, Jess. You too, Justin." He said, smiling at Justin too. "Anytime, Blizzard." Justin said, smiling widely as he used the new nickname. Hannah and Jessica playfully rolled their eyes while Donnie just chuckled.
