Chapter 34
The next morning, when Hannah woke up, she felt a protective arm gently resting over her stomach. When she glanced over, she saw a still-sleeping Donnie lying peacefully next to her on the bed. She smiled to herself as she simply watched him sleep, thinking to herself about how adorable he looked at the moment. Getting an idea, the girl slowly and carefully leaned down towards the sleeping boy, gently kissing him. She smiled when she felt Donnie return the kiss as he smiled too. "Definitely one of the best possible ways to wake me up in the morning." He commented after they broke apart, still lying in each other's arms. "I might just have to wake you up like that more often, then." Hannah said with a bright smile before kissing him again.
After noticing the time, the pair got up and Donnie left to go home and get changed and ready for school. After Donnie had said goodbye and left, Hannah got ready for school before grabbing her things and heading downstairs for some breakfast. "Hey, Hannah." Her mother greeted as the short-haired girl entered the kitchen, seeing her mother sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee set in front of her. Hannah smiled. "Hey, Mom." She greeted back as she went over to fix herself something to eat. "So, what movie did you and Donnie watch last night?" Mrs. Baker asked her daughter. Hannah smiled to herself. "We watch a movie called "The Visit." It was one of Donnie's picks, and I thought it was actually really good." Hannah said as she poured some cereal and milk into a bowl, grabbed a spoon from the utensil drawer, and sat down across from her mother at the kitchen table. "Sounds like fun. And it sounds like you really enjoyed that movie. I'm glad you and Donnie are having fun together." Mrs. Baker said with a warm smile. "I am too. I'm honestly really glad that Dad and Mr. Jensen found Donnie and he still happened to be alive. I honestly can't and don't want to see myself living my life without him. He makes me really happy, like no other guy can. And he's different than every other guy out there, too. That's one of the main things I like that about him." Hannah said as she smiled a little. "I'm glad they found him, too. I can see how much you two care for each other, and I can tell that he feels the same way about not wanting to see himself living his life without you in it. I can tell you mean just as much to him as he does to you." Mrs. Baker said. "You two seem to keep each other happy." She added. Hannah smiled and gave a small nod of agreement in response as she finished her breakfast and checked the time. "Well, I should get going. Don't want to be late for school." Hannah said as she got up and rinsed her dishes off in the sink before placing them in the dish washer. "Love you." She called over her shoulder as she headed towards the front door. "Love you, too." Came the response from her mother before Hannah closed the door behind her.
Seeing Donnie walking towards her as she stepped off of the front porch, Hannah smiled a small, happy smile as she walked over to meet him at the sidewalk. "Hey, you ready to go?" Donnie asked with a bright, contagious smile. Hannah nodded her response as she smiled back up at the taller boy. "I love your shirt, by the way. Really goes nice with your black jeans. Perfect colors since Halloween is tomorrow." Hannah said after noticing her boyfriend's clothes, complimenting him on his outfit consisting of an orange and black unbuttoned plaid shirt with a plain dark gray t-shirt underneath, and black jeans, along with his usual black converse. Hannah couldn't help but blush slightly as she thought about how cute Donnie looked with the sleeves of his plaid shirt pushed up so they rested just below his elbows, leaving his forearms bare. "Oh, this? It was completely unintentional, but I'll still take the compliment." Donnie said as he glanced down to his clothes before looking back to Hannah with a smile on his face. "A happy accident that worked really well in your favor." She said as the couple continued walking towards the school together, their arms naturally linked together as they walked.
"Hey, guys." Kat greeted the two as they entered the school together. "Hey, Kat." Hannah replied as she briefly unlinked her arm from Donnie's to hug her friend. "Nice outfit, Donnie. Really screams Halloween." Kat complimented as she smiled at the ice-powered boy. "Thanks, Kat." Donnie said with a smile and slight blush.
Throughout the school day, Donnie got tons of compliments on his unintentional Halloween-color-themed outfit from students, a few teachers, and his friends. At one point during the day, Donnie had spotted Monty talking to Hannah, and he couldn't help but wonder what he had said to her, because after their little conversation, Hannah seemed less happy than she was before, and more upset. Going against himself, Donnie refrained from asking her about it, knowing that she'd tell him about it if she wanted him to know or if she just simply wanted to talk about it and confide in him. He also knew that whatever Monty said to her was enough to turn her genuin smiles into fake ones, as he could instantly tell that her smiles were forced and fake.
Once school finally ended for the day, since it was a Friday, Donnie offered to walk Hannah home, Kat saying she'd tag along as well because she wanted to have some one-one-one girl time with her best friend. So as the three walked to Hannah's house together, they became developed in a comfortable silence. As they continued down the sidewalk, Donnie walked in the middle with Hannah on one side and Kat on the other. Kat and Donnie both knew something was up with their friend, because they both had been able to detect her fake smiles earlier, and they both had seen Monty talk to her. "Do you think she's ok?" Kat whispered quietly to Donnie so Hannah wouldn't hear them. "I'm not sure. I'm worried it might have something to do with what Monty might've said to her earlier." Donnie whispered back, Kat nodding in agreement with him. "I'll talk to her about it and see if she tells me anything." Kat said. "Ok. If she does tell you something, tell me what it is." Donnie said, Kat nodding in agreement as she smiled, hearing protectiveness in his voice. "Don't worry. I'll let you know if she tells me anything." Kat reassured him as they reached Hannah's house. "Well, I should head home to get started on my homework. I'll see you a little later, ok, Hannah?" Donnie said, his voice pulling the girl out of her thoughts as she smiled at him - not a real, genuin one, but a fake smile. "Ok, Donnie. See you later." She said before heading into her house with Kat following behind.
As Donnie slowly made his way home, he thought about what Monty possibly could have said to make Hannah so seemingly upset to where her smiles were fake. He wanted so badly to find the jock and beat him up, and he'd do exactly that after finding out what he had talked to Hannah about.
A couple hours later, after Donnie had finished all of his homework, he was lying on his bed with his headphones on as he listened to music on his phone. As he was listening to music, he felt his phone suddenly come to life as it vibrated in his hand. Holding it up and looking at the screen, Donnie saw that it was a message from Kat.
Kat: I know what Monty said to Hannah earlier.
Donnie: What did he say to her?
Kat: He said that he knew what she did with Bryce, and he said she was a slut and that she'd do any guy who wanted it. He said that he wouldn't be surprised if you two had done it already, and he even tried to get her to do it with him.
Donnie: Did he do anything to her? Or just say all that stuff?
Kat: He tried to convince her to at least let him have some fun, and he tried to make a move by going for her inner thigh. When she pushed him away, he got defensive and said that he thought she was easy.
Donnie: I'm going to kill Monty.
Kat: I won't stand in your way. I'm all for you beating the crap out of that jerk. Maybe even break his nose or something. He definitely deserves whatever you plan to do to him after what he said to Hannah.
