Chapter 32
Upon arriving at the location where everyone agreed to meet back up again, Donnie and Hannah spotted three figures. As they got closer, they realized that the three figures belonged to Skye, Jeff, and Alex. "Hey, guys." Alex happily greeted the pair as he was the first to see them walking over. "Hey, Alex." Hannah replied while Donnie slightly nodded his head with a smile as a greeting. "Hey, Hannah. Sup, Bliz?" They heard another voice from behind them, Donnie teasingly rolling eyes with a smile at the use of his nickname since no one else outside of his friends was around to hear it, instantly knowing it was none other than Justin Foley. "Hey, Foley. Hey, Jess." Donnie greeted after turning to face the two. Jessica smiled at Donnie after playfully rolling her eyes at her boyfriend. "Bliz?" Jeff asked curiously with a small smile. Donnie turned towards the friendly jock. "It's a shortened version of Justin's nickname for me." He simply explained. "Yeah, the full nickname is Blizzard." Jessica added with a smile, Donnie nodding in agreement to her added statement. "You seem to have a variety of nicknames, don't you, Donnie?" Skye asked jokingly. "There's Helmet, then Blizzard or Bliz, and also Ice Boy." Skye continued. "Wait, who calls him Ice Boy?" Alex asked in slight confusion. "I do." A new voice was heard. Everyone turned towards the sound to see Kat standing there with a smirk on her face. "Seeing how everyone seems to have cool nicknames for you, I want in on the action too." Alex said, slightly whining towards the end. Donnie looked towards a smiling Hannah before turning back to Alex. "If you can think of a nickname for me, I'll respond to it just like I respond to the others." Donnie informed him, making the blond haired boy smile widely. "Captain Ice." He stated not even a second later. Donnie smiled at the name. "Captain Ice it is then." He said, making Alex smile brightly. "What's Captain Ice?" A voice asked curiously, causing everyone to glance over, seeing Zach, Tony, and Sherri walking towards the group. "Captain Ice is the new nickname I came up with for Donnie." Alex stated proudly. Zach smiled at his friend.
"Alright, looks like everyone's here. Let's go check this thing out!" Kat said excitedly, Skye and Donnie smiling in excitement as well while the others looked slightly skeptical but excited at the same time. "You three seem a bit more excited about this than the rest of us." Sherri commented as she noticed their expressions. "Yeah, I actually really love this kind of stuff. That's why Halloween is my favorite time of year. I always love the scary stuff the best." Donnie explained, both Skye and Kat nodding their heads in agreement with him. "Yeah. That's one thing the three of us have in common. We like the creepy, scary stuff that comes around during Halloween." Skye added with a small smile. As the group continued walking, Hannah stayed by Donnie's side, her hand quickly finding his again as she began to get slightly nervouse as they got closer and closer to the specific scary maze they had all come for. "Hey, don't worry. I'll be by your side the whole time." Donnie whispered reassuringly to her, making the girl smile gratefully up at him. "Thanks, Helmet." She said as the group found themselves slowly entering the maze. Spooky-sounding instrumental music was easily heard in the background as the group of friends slowly walked further into the maze, glancing all around them as they slowly walked further and further. Donnie would occasionally give his girlfriend's hand a comforting squeeze, letting her know that he was still right by her side, Hannah glancing over and giving Donnie a thankful smile as he did so.
As the group of friends made their way through the maze, workers dressed up as terrifying creatures would jump out from behind walls, some picture frames, and other hinding places, effectively scaring the unsuspecting teens as they jumped, some even screaming, every time. Instead of screaming, anytime she got scared, Hannah would jump a little and instinctively move closer to Donnie as he would protectively wrap his arm around her waiste and hold her close to him.
Once they finally reached the end of the maze that seemed to go on forever, five people - Donnie, Kat, Jeff, Skye, and Justin - were smiling to them selves. As they walked, Donnie still held Hannah close to him as she had one of his hands in a tight grip. "That was actually really fun." Zach said. "Yeah, I think so too." Donnie said, not seeing someone walk up behind him. "I honestly think the best part from that entire thing was how you got more mad than scared every time something or someone scared you." Skye said to Donnie, smirking as she spoke. The people in the friend group who did notice someone sneaking up on Donnie decided to play it cool and stay quiet. As Donnie gently let go of Hannah, he felt a slight rush of wind and heard what sounded like growling coming from beside him, causing him to turn his head in the direction the small breeze and sound came from. As soon as Donnie turned his head, he noticably jumped a couple steps to the side and away from the two dressed up workers who creepily stood there, slowly taking a few steps closer to him as they were staring at Donnie menacingly. "STOP IT, STOP IT NOW!" Donnie exclaimed, his words coming out rushed as he became slightly more mad than scared, resulting in his friends laughing at his reaction, including Hannah who let a small laugh escape her lips. "What are you gonna do about it, Clay?" One of the workers asked in a creepy voice, freaking Donnie out a little as the worker said the name before running towards the black haired boy and making him start to run as the two workers chased him around a little. As this went on for a few minutes, slightly angry shouts could be heard from Donnie, making the group of friends laugh at the scene being displayed in front of them, some of them recording it all on their phones.
Once Donnie escaped the two workers that were chasing him, he walked back over to his friends as he caught his breath from all the running he just did. "Oh, shut up." Donnie said teasingly with a small smile once he got to his friends and saw them try to quiet their laughing. "That was amazing." Skye said with a large smile. "From this view, I bet it was." Donnie replied slightly sarcastic with a smile as well as he lightly shook his head.
After Donnie fully caught his breath, everyone decided to call it a night and head their seperate ways back to their own homes. As Donnie and and Hannah walked down the sidewalk together, they were developed in a comfortable silence. "So, did you have fun?" Donnie asked, breaking the silence between them. "Yeah, I actually did. Especially since you stayed by me the whole time." Hannah replied with a warm smile in Donnie's direction as she glanced up at him. "I'm glad, because I had fun too. Even after I got chased by two of the workers there." Donnie said, joking at the last statement as he returned a warm smile of his own. "Hey, what movie did you pick for us to watch tonight?" Donnie asked curiously, remembering that they still had their scary movie date waiting for them at Hannah's house. The girl smiled to herself as she remembered her three movie choices. "I picked "Psycho." It's an older black and white movie, but I thought it looked really good." She said as she and Donnie reached her house, walking up the small driveway before stepping up on the porch and heading inside. Donnie smiled. "I actually considered choosing that movie for one of my picks, but I got a feeling you'd end up choosing it." Donnie said. "But I agree too. It does look like a good movie. You get it set up, and I'll get us some popcorn and drinks." Donnie suggested. After getting an approving nod from his girlfriend, Donnie made his way into the kitchen to pop some popcorn and get some drinks.
After everything was set, as the pair sat on the couch close together and watched the movie, they shared a large bowl of popcorn that was resting in Donnie's lap with one of his arms gently placed around it so it wouldn't spill or anything. "So far this movie is really good." Hannah commented quietly as they watched a scene where a detective was walking up a set of stares in a hotel. Suddenly, without any warning, loud, scary music filled the speakers, causing Donnie to jump a bit in his seat and spill some of the popcorn all over Hannah and himself as he wasn't expecting it. When he heard his girlfriend's laughter, he rolled his eyes with a small smile on his face. "You know, sometimes I think the music is scarier than some of the scenes in the actual movie." The boy commented as he composed himself and looked back to the tv to see that the detective now lied dead at the bottom of the staircase with some blood splattered over his face, suggesting that something took place to make him fall down the stairs after being attacked and stabbed. "Well, at least you didn't spill all of the popcorn, Helmet." Hannah joked as she took a small handful of what was left in the bowl and placed it in her her mouth. Donnie teasingly glared at her before the two turned their attention back to their movie again.
