LOST CREEK, COLORADO
CABIN
[ ☾]
"I can't believe you finally came up here with me." A Girl says.
Tommy Collins, from the Wendigo episode from season one, is in a cabin with the Girl. "Why wouldn't I?" He asks.
"I love this place. It's like...I can breathe, you know?" She says as Tommy chuckles. "You okay?"
Tommy is at the window. "Aah! Yeah. Yeah, I'm good." A Creature growls. "Did you hear that?"
"What?"
"The growl?" Tommy asks.
"No. Maybe it's a bear." She says. The Creature growls again.
"Shelly, get back!" He yells.
"Baby, what is wrong?" Shelley asks.
"It's not a bear. It's a Wendigo." He says. "Hide in the bedroom. Right now. Hide, Shelly!"
"Tommy, I don't hear anything." Shelley says as Tommy gets a gas canister from his bag. "What are you doing?"
"I'm gonna light his ugly ass on fire. Get back." Tommy clutches his head. "Aah!" The growling continues.
"What's...H-happening?" Shelley asks as Tommy's head explodes. "Tommy!"
SUPERNATURAL
CAROLINE'S HOUSE
[ ☼ ]
Caroline and Bonnie enter a bedroom carrying a tray of food. "Okay. Time to wake up, sleepy head." Caroline says.
Elena is laying in a bed with the sheets over her. "No. I'm not leaving this bed." She says. Her bed is cluttered with tissues.
"Which is why we brought breakfast to you." Bonnie says. They pull the blanket off of Elena.
"What's all this?" Elena asks.
"This is your breakup breakfast!" Bonnie yells.
"My what?" Elena asks.
Caroline makes a mimosa for Elena. "So that's it? You're giving up?" She asks
"As she should! He did say, and I quote, 'I'm a bad person. I am bad for you. And I'm choosing to let you go'." Bonnie says.
"You memorized my break up?" Elena asks. "I know I shouldn't have told you guys."
"Of course I did." Bonnie says.
Caroline hands Elena the glass. "Drink this." She says and Elena takes the drink.
"I just have to face reality." Elena says. "When Dean makes up his mind about something, it's done."
"Yeah." Bonnie says.
Elena's phone begins to ring on a neighboring dresser, causing Elena to perk up. Caroline goes to pick up the phone, seeing Sam is calling. "It's Sam." She says.
"Tell him I don't feel like talking." Elena says.
"She doesn't feel like talking." Bonnie repeats to Caroline.
"She doesn't feel like talking." Caroline says to Sam.
"Well, she's going to want to talk about this." Sam says. "Just give her the phone."
Caroline walks over to Elena's bed and hands her the phone. Elena sighs before putting it up to her ear. "Is everything alright?" She asks him.
"I just wanted to give you the update in the trials." Sam says. "The last one calls for me to cure a demon. Except I don't know what that actually means."
"Are you feeling well? You sound like you're incredibly sick." Elena says.
"It's the trials." Sam says. "It'll be better once it's all over I guess."
Elena bites her lip before asking her question. "How's he doing?" She asks.
"He's locked himself in his room since you guys broke up." Sam says. "He's just done with everything nowadays. I mean with the trails, Kevin, you, Castiel. It's enough to send a man to a mental hospital."
"Yeah. I guess." Elena starts to pick at her blanket.
"Look Elena, I'm really sorry that it had to come down to this. He still loves you you know and I don't think he'll ever stop." Sam says. "He thinks he's protecting you."
"I can protect myself." Elena says.
"He knows that." Sam says. "He's just having a hard time believing it."
Elena sighs. "Thanks for calling, but I don't think it's a good idea we keep in touch." She says.
"Elena wait–" Sam starts as Elena hangs up the phone. She clutches her legs as she cries.
BUNKER
[ ☼ ]
"Please tell me that's everything." Sam says.
"Yeah." Dean chuckles. "No, not even close. You see, the Men of Letters kept files on every demonic possession for the last 300 years, I mean, we've got Borden, Lizzy, all the way to Crane, Ichabod."
"Aah."
"How you feeling?" Dean asks.
"Honestly, um... My, uh, my whole body hurts." Sam says. "I feel nauseous and like I'm starving at the same time, and everything smells like rotting meat."
"I've had that hangover. Jaeger, man." Dean says. "Maybe you should, uh, take a break, get some air."
"Dean, the only thing that's gonna make me feel better is finishing this." Sam says.
"All right. Well, I'll go get you some grub, keep your strength up." Dean leaves as Castiel enters.
"Morning. I like this bunker." Cass says. "It's orderly."
"Oh, give us a few months. Dean wants to get a ping-pong table." Sam says.
"I've heard of that. It's a game, right?" Castiel groans.
"Are you okay?" Asks Sam.
"My wound isn't healing as quickly as I'd hoped... But I am getting better. And you're getting worse."
"Well, two trials down, one to go." Sam says.
"And the final test, do you–you know what it is?" Cass asks.
"I have to cure a Demon." Sam says.
"Of what?" Castiel chuckles.
"That's what we're trying to figure out." Sam says.
Dean returns with some plates. "Soup's on. There we go." He sips the open beer. "I think this is, uh... Oh, it's still good."
"A half-drunk beer, jerky, and three peanut-butter cups?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, we're–we're running a little low. I'll make a run." Dean says.
"Dean, I can go with you." Cass says. "Dean. I'm sorry."
"For what?" Dean asks.
"For everything."
"Everything? Like, uh... Like ignoring us?" Dean asks.
"Yes." Castiel says.
"Or like bolting off with the Angel Tablet, then losing it 'cause you didn't trust me?" Dean asks. "You didn't trust me."
"Yes."
"Yeah. Nah, that's not gonna cut it. Not this time." Dean says. "So you can take your little apology and you cram it up your ass."
"Dean, I thought I was doing the right thing." Castiel says.
"Yeah, you always do." Dean says.
Sam clears throat. "Hey, uh, do we have a room 7B?" He asks.
ROOM 7B IN THE BUNKER
[ ☼ ]
"Dude, go easy on Cass, okay. He's one of the good guys." Sam says.
"Dude, if anybody else—I mean anybody–pulled that kind of crap, I would stab them in their neck on principle." Dean asks. "Why should I give him a free pass?"
"Because it's Cass." Sam says
"What are we supposed to be looking for down here?" Dean asks.
"Um, anything on case 1138. It was a class 5 infernal event–St. Louis, March 8, 1957." Sam says.
"'Class 5 infernal event'?" Dean asks.
"Yeah. See, the Letters have this whole rating system." Sam says. "'The Exorcist' would have been a class 2."
"All right, so, what makes this puppet show so special?" Dean asks.
"It was weird." Sam says.
"Weird how?"
"No clue. One of the files just had a note written in the margin about room 7B and the word 'weird' with three exclamation points." Sam says
"Good times." Dean says.
"Yeah. Got it."
"Sammy, check this out." Dean pushes back to sets of shelves to reveal an area with a devils trap on the floor and manacles on the walls. "Whoa."
"Is that a Devil's Trap? It takes up half the room." Sam says. "These chains–they have spellwork etched into them."
"So we have a dungeon. Finally!" Dean yells. "What do you got there?"
"Movie night?" Sam asks.
DARKENED ROOM
[ ☼ ]
The video starts playing an old black and white home movie. "Simon, we're filming. Um, hello, world." Josie says. "So this new ritual we're going to see, this new type of exorcism, h-how does it work?"
"I don't know. It's my first time." Simon says.
"Wait, is that Abaddon?" Sam asks.
"Aah! Aah!" A Woman yells.
"It's not killy enough. It's got to be the, uh, the chick she possessed." Dean says.
"Hurry. We must do it now." A Father of the Church says
"Dead! They're all dead! Everyone you ever loved..." The Woman says.
"Hey, those chains look exactly like the ones in our dungeon." Sam says.
"In your what?" Castiel asks.
"Demon on a leash–cool." Dean says as the screaming and grunting continue.
"Aah! Aah! Aah!"
"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus... hanc animam redintegra...Lustra! Lustra!" The Father says. "She's dead."
"Where's the demon?" Josie asks.
"Stop filming."
"What happened?" Asks Josie.
"Will you just stop?!" The Father says as the Projector clicks.
"Well, that was weird... With three exclamation points." Dean says.
"That wasn't a normal exorcism. They changed the words." Sam says.
"I believe 'lustra' is Latin for wash or cleanse." Castiel says.
"Oh, yeah, 'cause that was the most freaky thing was the vocabulary. What about the bloody high five or the chest burster?" Dean asks. "Anything else on the film, like director's commentary, sequel, maybe?"
"Yeah, listen to this. The older priest, Max Thompson, bit the dust in '58, but the younger one is still alive and still in St. Louis." Sam says.
"Think this kind of weird is worth the drive?" Dean asks.
"Dean, everything in those folders–the possessions, the deals, all of it–we've seen that before, but that–That was all new. Yeah, it's worth the drive."
"All right. Let's roll." Dean says as Castiel stands up. "Not you."
"Sam is more damaged than I am." Castiel says.
"Yeah, well, you know, even banged up, Sammy comes through." Dean says.
"Dean, I just want to help."
"We don't need your help. Just stay here and–and get better." Dean says as they leave. Castiel sighs and vanishes.
CAROLINE'S
NEIGHBORHOOD
[ ☼ ]
Caroline and Elena are walking down the sidewalk of their neighborhood. They stop when they reach a playground. "These poor kids have no idea what's going on in the world." Elena says. "Demons and Angels roam the earth."
"Don't be sappy." Caroline says. "It's like Sam said, Dean was just trying to protect you."
"We're officially over now." Elena says as Castiel appears right in front of her. "What are you doing here? And how'd you find me?"
Castiel turns around. "We have a special connection." He says. "I had nowhere else to turn."
Caroline squints at Castiel. "Fancy suit. A trench coat..." Her eyes go wide. "Oh my god! You're Castiel! The Guardian Angel!"
"Sorry." Elena says. "She read the books." She says. "And what do you mean you have nowhere else to turn? What happened to helping Sam and Dean?"
Castiel looks down. "I might have done things, unforgivable things that I do not want to explain." He says and looks at her weirdly.
"What?" She asks.
"Nothing." Cass says. "It's just that...I've noticed your aura seemed different since I fell. Have you and Dean consummated your love?"
"Uh, that seems like a personal question to me." Elena says. "Why?"
"When two soulmates consummate, their aura glows. You're glowing and it shows. I've never seen anything like it."
"Wait a second." Elena says and holds her hand up. "'Soulmate'? We're soulmates?"
"It would seem so, yes." Cas says. "It also happens to be very rare."
"I KNEW IT!" Caroline yells and Elena covers her face. "Did I not say you two were meant for each other?"
"Yes you did." Elena says.
"But..." Caroline suddenly looks upset.
"We're not together."
CHURCH
[ ☼ ]
"Father Thompson had some unorthodox ideas, which is why the Men of Letters were interested." Gather Simon says.
"Unorthodox how?" Dean asks.
"What exactly do you mean, 'saved'?" Sam asks.
"A demon is a human soul, twisted and corrupted by its time in Hell." Father Simon says. "Father Thompson believed that you could wash that taint away and restore their humanity."
"So, what, they just stay in whatever schmuck they're possessing and–and get a ticket upstairs?" Dean asks.
"I wish I knew."
"Okay, but this–this ritual... Can cure a demon?" Sam asks.
"I suppose, if it worked, but that night, something went terribly wrong. The Demon escaped into the world, and that poor old woman... It was horrible." He says. "I know father Thompson kept trying. There were other possessions, experiments, but I couldn't face that–not again. And then, a few months later... He was dead."
"How'd that happen?" Dean asks.
"Something tore him apart."
"Did he keep any, uh..." Sam coughs. "Did he keep records or–" Sam starts coughing. "Uh." He clears his throat. "...do you have a-a bathroom, maybe?" Father Simon points to the back of the church. "Thanks."
"Is he all right?" Father Simon asks.
"Uh, no, padre. He's...pretty damn far from all right." Dean says. "That's why we're here."
"I don't understand."
"Well, short story is, uh, Sammy there is gonna take whatever shredded your friend and every other black-eyed bitch out there, and he's gonna get rid of them for good." Dean says.
"He is? In his condition?"
"Father, over the past couple of months, I've seen him do crap that I didn't even think was possible. I mean, sure, he's miserable and he's hurting, but you know what?" Dean asks. "There's not a doubt in my mind that he's gonna cross that finish line–not one. So, will you help us?"
"I'll get Father Thompson's things for you."
"Thank you." Dean says.
