Chapter 97: Deicide Part 2
Raven was falling. Her wound that PAMA inflicted is heavily bleeding as her blood dripped into the air; her black feathers scattered around her to join the crimson liquid in the free-fall.
As the platform was raised high into the air from underground, she was leaning against the walls when the undead colossuses ripped them away. And with her wounds, she couldn't resist much to prevent falling off.
Beneath the platform, a large vertical pillar of blood extended right back to the underground source, in that hidden room. Raven could swore she saw a woman inside that pillar, swimming down the pillar of blood, carrying Luke's body as she froze the blood behind her.
Could it be because of that woman, the blood was able to extend up with the platform? Raven knew she had to get back up there, Jesse needs her help; his wife is free from PAMA but she's bleeding to death!
She thanked Notch that her book snagged onto her belt when she fell. She casted <Heal> on her wounds and spread her wings-
Kill me...
She looked down at the source of the voice to see a large snake made out of carbon, formed with the twisted agonizing bodies of people while they burned into a crisp.
Raven flapped her wings and ascended away from the monster as it quickly coiled around the pillar of blood, easily catching up to Raven's altitude before lunging at her with its segmented mouth wide open.
It's canine mouth unhinged and hissed to reveal a tunnel of rotten intestines and teeth within. Raven casted <Creation> to form a vertical platform of divine energy by her side before kicking it to launch her body out of the way.
The large snake abomination passed by her as it arced towards the ground, but not before a familiar homunculus burst out from the side, screaming with his scythe in his clawed hands as rotten intestines and bits of bones splattered out, and swung at Raven with his weapon with enough force to send her crashing away into the snowy ground.
Raven managed to cast <Shield> before colliding into the snow, forming her own crater not to far away from the one in the homunculus made.
Her body felt sore as she climbed out of her crater. She casted <Heal> on the large bleeding wound from her left shoulder to her right hip; caused by the homunculus' scythe. A huge shockwave kicked up the snow, knocked her back into her crater when the snake-like beast crashed into the ground.
Raven heard the screaming bodies of carbon as she heard the homunculus laughing. 'Why is he here?' She thought in alarm as the homunculus called out her name.
Raven, crouching down in her crater, looked up at the platform, the sounds of fighting can be heard even from this far away. If the homunculus is close, then at least she can stall him; he won't stop when it comes to killing people, and she's no exception.
Raven jumped out of her crater, stretching her wings to fold onto her back as she had to try and not to vomit at the sight and smell of the homunculus pull himself out of the flaming carbon snake he made, using his scythe as a crutch.
Odd colored blood and puss popped and pooled onto the snowy ground. The people he absorbed continued the thrash and scream and cry as he ripped his body out, standing naked on a shallow puddle of body fluids mixed in the snow.
'If he can do that, what else can he form?' Raven pondered, remembering his colossal body. She saw intestines attached to his back, connecting him to the snake he made. His decayed body seemed to rot even more while his blonde hair took on a deader hue.
"I thought PAMA had you tamed." Raven stated as he smiled back, revealing his crooked rotted teeth while multiple tree branches, grass, and stone, protruded and covered the massive snake. The same thing with the intestines, before the homunculus cut it off with his weapon as it too turned into stone wrapped in moss.
Raven watched the homunculus use his scythe as a crutch to limp forward as his wounds slowly regenerates, much slower in comparison than before. Only a thin layer of carbon formed a loose, hooded cloak around his decaying body as he opened his other clawed hand.
The homunculus dropped the crushed redstone chips onto the snow, splattering the puddle of body fluids. "I ripped them out..." His voice was tired as blood oozed out of the wounds on his back; healing slowly, even as they instantly got infected and started to rot like his body. The snake body he detached himself from completely turned into stone with fresh trees and flowers growing out. "You've noticed, huh?"
"What's happening to you?" Raven asked, not really sure that he'll reveal that kind of information. Normally when a part of his body gets separated, it disintegrates into carbon to rejoin his body, yet the snake he formed with his body mass turned into stone and plants.
But much to her surprise, he started laughing.
"I'm becoming mortal again," The freak laughed as he lifted his scythe on his shoulder. "The fetish I absorbed into my colossal body, before compressing it, made me a sponge for absorbing nature energy."
"Fetish?" Raven asked before realization hit her when she saw the faint green energy drawn from the ground as it lost its vitality; turning into an ash-like substance as he is absorbing all of the nature energy. "That was what caused the fog, wasn't it? I've should have know that some unholy object was at work!"
"Looks like your god is still faulty as ever..." The freak laughed much to Raven's anger. "If he was even real in the first place... he-he-he..." He chuckled before coughing blood.
"If you can possibly die, then why are you laughing?" Raven questioned as she used <Creation> to reform her obsidian daggers. "Seems to me you're at a disadvantage."
"Oh I am!" He acknowledge joyfully, before yelling in pain as a tree branch burst out from his left shoulder. "I...I can't manipulate my body mass as much, I can't hover anymore; my regeneration is slowing down too."
The freak gestured back to the massive stone snake. "I shoved most of my body mass out with that, and I'm back to a normal weight," He took his clawed hand, and snapped off the tree branch protruding out from his left shoulder. It torn his carbon cloak enough to reveal his decayed skin taking on a grey color, turning into stone. "I'm finally dying... I've never been more at peace- still fucking hurts though!" He laughed again like a maniac before coughing.
"So you want to die that bad?" Raven readied her obsidian blades and put her book away; divine magic won't work on him. "I can make it happen."
"Oh I do, but I want to know something first..." The freak stared at Raven with his bleeding, deflated milky-white eyes. "I want to know your real name."
"... Earlier, you knew about my parents abandoning me." Raven stated, remembering her first confrontation with the homunculus as it revealed a painful part of her past. "How?"
"That skull I was wearing had lenses with special runes that revealed information on whoever I look at; until you destroyed it." The freak gripped his weapon in both hands. "Even Jesse has them, in his right eye."
"So those runes in his right eye..." Raven remembered how Axel pointed them out, her hands trembling in anger. "He knew about my past!"
"As did I." The freak's face took on a more comfortable and curious expression. "I know how you were sold into slavery, to be experimented on; it's how you got your wings-"
Raven's wings twitched.
"-But your name was given to you when you survived, when you showed how deadly you are with something sharp in your hand." The freak pointed his scythe at Raven, his odd colored blood dripping down his body. "I want to know your real name, it's been bugging me since I can relate."
"... I never had a name. I was called, number one; we were ranked with numbers by how deadly were are- the smaller the number, the higher our ranking among the other experiments." Raven answered a moment later, revealing a tattoo with her number under her collarbone while the harsh wind blew the snow down on them. "That's what I was called before my friend gave me the name 'Raven'; and he was called, number zero."
"You mean, Slab?" The freak asked much to her surprise. "If he was number zero, then it would explain how he killed the other slaves, even the scientist and soldier supervising."
"...How do you know him?" Raven glared at the homunculus as she took a fighting stance. "Where is he? He needs to answer for what he's done!"
"You want to know...?" The homunculus placed his hood back on his head, covering his disgusting face. "You'll have to make me."
Neither one of them made the first strike as the cold wind howled in fury, snow falling heavier by the second. "You know, I'm an experiment too." The freak revealed, although he already told her that back with everyone else in the hidden room. She could tell he's smiling behind his hood. "I don't have a name either, my name was given to me by someone close to me, just like you. Heck, my name doesn't belong to me either, it's owned by the man I was made to imitate!"
"What are you getting at?" Raven was cautious at his joyful chuckles, she needs to plan ahead is she wants to win; who knows what Jess is doing.
"I've been all alone. I, the only homunculus, had no one to relate to," The freak then pointed at Raven; she could tell his smile had gotten bigger. "But who knew I would find another nameless freak of nature, like me. Although, you are older since I'm only several months old at best- I lost track."
"So that's why we're talking?" Raven looked at the homunculus in disbelief. "Because you're lonely?"
"Honesty... yes." The freak nodded. "All those villages I've destroyed, the people that lived... smiling, bonding, loving each other; it hurts, knowing that you're all alone in the world with no one to relate to. That's more painful than having a decaying body."
"You were jealous of them, weren't you?" Raven asked, a ping of sympathy echoed in her soul. "Sorry, but I can't really relate to that," She padded the book on her belt. "I'm never alone."
"You really think you're nonexistent god has time for you?" The freak asked. "He sure didn't make any for me."
"He has time because he is real." Raven declared. "And what about your mom, Jess? Doesn't she care about you?"
"...We had a disagreement." The freak murmured. "Unlike you, I've got a mother to have problems with..."
BWWWAAAAMMMM-!
A deep sound echoed throughout the cold air. They both saw that the pillar of frozen blood glow a bright red as it chipped away in the distance before slowly evaporating.
"What's going on?" Raven shouted as the ground violently shook, she had barely enough time to backflip out of the homunculus' scythe from cutting off her head.
"Never mind that!" The homunculus shouted, pointing his weapon as red cracks formed and spread on the ground. "We both had the same past, and we both have the will to survive this godless hell that we call life!"
Massive chunks of the ground were ripping out and floating up into the air as the holes they left behind revealed a deeper glowing shade of red. The air felt heavy and rough as Raven could swore that the sky itself was chipping apart.
"What are trying to say?" Raven shouted jumping away as the ground under her uprooted into the sky. "You still want to kill me, is that it?!"
"It's not just killing you..." The freak glared behind his hood. "...I want to see whose will to survive is stronger; mine, or yours!" Raven swore she could hear the sounds of branches snapping and stone cracking as more blood soaked the homunculus' cloak.
WHOOOSH-!
The ground under them was pulled into the cold air as it twisted and rotated, but they didn't fall off; the large chunk of earth they're on, as the hundreds of others in the air, has its own gravity for some reason.
"Fight me, nameless child!" The homunculus pointed his weapon at Raven. "It's time to prove our existence to the world!"
A/N: When I asked the OC submitter of Raven to tweak her, she gladly accepted. I've had this fight scene planned out and I can't wait to write it, and for you all to read it! Anyways, for those who don't know, the word "deicide" mean the killer or killing of a god. Hence the titles of the chapters and the quest Jess received.
Do you all remember the fetish Jess gave the homunculus, the reason why it made the fog?How in earlier chapters his massive, disturbing body unintentionally absorbed the item into his body? Well, that's why he's vulnerable to dying now.
So Isa has Luke, taking him to do who-knows-what with him. And I've seen a few people comment on him getting his own chapter, but that's my point: a few, not even close to what Chai, Bailey, and Raven has. So maybe I'll do something, jut not a whole chapter unless suddenly a huge amount of people say otherwise. I've seen some a few arguments, just not really good ones.
As for that one-shot series, I'm still writing it. You guys really wanted the 'Ivor vs Vegans' thing! I'm just trying to find a good picture for the cover.
