Chapter 80: Clockwork Part 5

All the guards left, much to Olivia's confusion, leaving her on top of the obsidian wall alone with her redstone turrets. After about an hour of isolation, she decided to meet with Jesse. 'Something's not right...' She thought.

Olivia ran down the steps, onto the snow-covered ground as the cold weather became harsher, blocking out the sunlight. She ignored the panicked, starved refugees as she ran towards the inner wall.

Then the ground started to shake. It was slow at first, but it steadily became faster like an overworking heart ready to flatline. It was coming behind her, from beyond the wall.

Olivia turned around, frozen in horror as veins of black dust emerged from the obsidian wall, almost as if it was drowning and clawing its way to the surface before violently expanding outwards.

BOOM-!

Debris flew everywhere as black dust rained from the sky with the white snow, sprinkling across the cold ground. A familiar horror walked through the opening as a legion of undead monsters wearing black armor with red eyes rushed passed him to attack anyone in sight.

His long grey cloak dragged across the snow-covered ground, and yet it didn't disrupt his walking as he left deep foot-prints behind. The freak's head turned to look around to see the screaming people running away in terror, but ignored the ones who managed to stay and fight. He held his scythe in one clawed hand, and an object in the other.

The motherless freak dropped the fetish Jess gave him onto the snow. Instantly, three concentric circles of white symbols spawned on the ground before glowing red, startling the people watching.

Fog spewed out of the center of the circles, obscuring the freaks as the red-eye, undead monsters charged at everyone they can see before attacking them.

Some put up a decent fight as Olivia ran to the storage area on the other side of the fortress inside the inner wall, outrunning terrified people and those who decided to fight.

But it wasn't enough, there was simply too many monsters that are too powerful. Olivia watched a man pull out his wizard staff, pointing it at a charging zombie, and fired a spike of ice.

Not a bad idea. With all of the cold and snow it makes it easier to cast ice magic. But the spike of frozen water just harmlessly bounced off the black material the zombie is covered in, and pounced the man.

Olivia just ran, she wanted to help, she really did, but she can't do anything. Luckily her redstone turrets she placed on the wall aimed and fired at the undead, making sure not to hit the innocent.

The fog expanded, easily catching up to her as it made it harder for her to see while making her redstone turrets harder to aim.

Although it wasn't blinding, just inconvenient. She can still see where to go, and still feel disturbed by the red eyes of the enhanced undead. Olivia, still running, watched in panic as the undead monsters became faster, hitting harder if watching a woman get punched through her chest is any indication, and became invisible.

She can still hear them though, the static groaning of the zombies and click-clack of skeletons. Olivia carefully made her way to the storage area of the Clockwork Fortress as she stepped into the entrance of the inner wall.

"Where are the soldiers?" Olivia whispered as she ran up the stone stairs, her voice bouncing off against the insides of the iron wall, and noticing the absent of the creepy, silent soldiers who wear those vein-covered hoods.

Olivia shook her head of those thoughts when she finally reached a stone platform within the wall after so many stairs. Straight ahead is a ladder that leads to the top of the wall while to her right is a room containing supplies.

Olivia rushed into the room when the whole placed shook, panic in her movements as she saw a black-haired woman rummaging through the various large chests. The female's black cloak covered her back, completely oblivious to Olivia's presence until the redstone engineer spoke.

"...Hello?" Olivia spoke, startling the female to turn around, revealing her leather armor, dyed black, and pulled out her obsidian daggers from her black pants while she narrowed her golden eyes at the redstone engineer.

The female, taking a step closer to the point where the tip of her dagger is pressed against Olivia's chest.

"Whoa!" Olivia put her hands in surrender. "I'm not here to fight, I just need some supplies!"

"Everyone does," The female scoffed. "Who are you, and why are you here?"

"I'm Olivia," She replied. "Ellegaard's apprentice, and a redstone expert. And you are...?"

"...It's Raven," The woman hesitantly introduced before sheathing her daggers at her hips, next to a white book clipped on her belt.

[Raven] Level 154

Class: Illusionist

Title: Crisis of Faith

"That's it?" Olivia asked as the female tied her black hair into a ponytail. "You're not going to attack me?"

"Why would I? You're not worth the effort." Raven shrugged, offending Olivia, and continued to scavenge through the chests. "Besides, you don't look evil, not like that giant golem I escaped from."

Olivia paused as she opened the first chest, containing redstone items. "What golem?"

Raven started to gesture. "Big. Made of Metal. With a scowling, melted face with hollow red eyes. Ring a bell?"

Olivia shook her head. "I didn't see anything like that when I head up here," She admitted while packing the few supplies of redstone items into her inventory. "Only the invisible monsters outside in the fog."

"That's what's happening outside?" Raven asked as Olivia confirmed. "That's all I need to know."

Raven started to leave as Olivia continued to be frustrated with the lack of contents with the chests. "I took all that was left," Raven called over her shoulder. "You're just wasting your time."

"Wait," Olivia called, making Raven stop. "Come with me."

"..." Raven looked at her, clearly not wanting to interact with a girl she just met.

"I need to reach my friends, I can't make it alone." Olivia explained. "Please, I'll have a better chance of reaching them with your help."

"Not my problem," Raven just shook her head. "You'll just be dead weight."

"I have redstone knowledge and-"

"I have no use for redstone, other than making traps," Raven interrupted, tapping the book at her hip. "I got all that I need."

Olivia was getting desperate. "There has to be something that you want," She pleaded. "Please I just need your help, then I never bother you again."

"It's a waste of my time," Raven dismissed as continued to walk down the steps. "I got to get out of here before the golem shows up."

"What golem?" Olivia repeated, still at the top of the stairs as Raven walked down. "Is it still around?"

"I don't know," Raven shrugged. "When I Scribed the golem, it is something named PAMA."

"Wait, PAMA?!" Olivia screamed, running after her. "It's here?!"

BOOM-!

A giant, mechanical fist crashed through the base entrance of the inner wall, at the bottom of the stairs, startling the females.

The golem's fist uncurled its massive fingers to reveal a woman with blonde hair, whose body is completely covered with a metal exoskeleton.

"Hello meatbags," Greeted PAMA's puppet as she hopped off of the hand, and willed the golem's arm to retract, leaving a massive hole in its place as thick fog poured in.

"You again," Raven growled as she opened her book. "You're still after me."

"You meatbags never fail to infuriate me," The possessed female growled in annoyance as she walked up the stairs while the fog follows behind her. "You think you're so special that I would choose you, over assimilating more meatbags into my hive-mind network? Don't make me laugh, meatbag."

"So you're still not after me?"

"I honestly forgot about you. Us meeting again is nothing more than a coincidence." PAMA corrected. "But that doesn't mean I'm not going to stop."

CRASH-!

The golem from before punched through the iron wall. Its massive hand wedged Raven in between two fingers as she let out a pained scream while the golem slowly squeezed the life out of her.

"You should have just run, meatbag," PAMA shook her head in disapointment as the golem outside is gripping the wall with its free hand. "The stubborn are always first to die."

Raven just let out a wet cough as she freed one of her hands. A second later she pointed her palm at PAMA, quietly whispering a chant as a white circle with a smooth design appeared in front of her outstretched hand.

PAMA willed the golem to squeeze her tighter, breaking her concentration. "Do you really think I'll let you do that?" PAMA chided as the female it is possessing walked closer, pulling out a redstone chip. "You're not the first cleric I've assimilated."

"If I'm going to die..." Raven coughed, blood dripping out of the corner of her mouth, pointing her hand again. "I'm going to make sure you go with me, you demon!"

"I only need your mind intact," PAMA corrected. The golem's fingers, still holding Raven, lifted higher; breaking her concentration again. "Just not your spine."

The PAMA willed the golem to slam Raven onto the stone stairs; her back collided with the rough material. The sounds of bones cracking and stone breaking echoed out as she screamed in agony; writhing on the stairs.

PAMA willed the golem's arm to lift again, and bring it crashing onto Raven again.

CRUNCH-!

The arm raised again. Raven stopped moving, the only thing that can be heard is her pained breathing as blood pooled under her.

PAMA walked closer to her, a tiny redstone chip in hand, ready to place it on the back of Raven's head. PAMA stopped as a white circle with smooth designs appeared under Raven, her quiet chanting ceased before slamming her hand on the pool of blood under her.

"<Minor Creation>!" Raven grunted as the white circle glowed. Five pillars made of holy light erected around her, preventing the golem's arm from smashing her again as PAMA's body jumped back from the sudden action.

A second later, more circles appeared around the hole the golem made when it smashed through. "<Mending>" Raven grunted as the circles glowed a white light. In a few seconds the hole was covered in holy illumination, repairing the destruction as fresh blocks of iron appeared after the light died down, and severing the golem's arm from its main body.

"You meatbags always delay the inevitable," PAMA growled as it charged at the five holy pillars Raven erected. The metal plates on the female's right arm unfolded and extended into a sword above her left wrist before slicing through the pillars.

Raven pointed her hand at PAMA, ready to unleash another cleric spell, only for a spec of light to come out. Nothing.

The black-haired girl started to panic. Even though the head is encased in metal, with only glass lens for the red eyes to look out of, Raven could tell the computer-possessed female is smirking. "You are not so tough when I'm close to you, aren't you meatbag?"

PAMA grabbed Raven by the neck with her right hand as the weapon was ready to carve her like food.

"Hey, PAMA!" Olivia yelled, running at the duo. Two of her redstone turrets on top of the stairs aimed at the exoskeleton-covered female. "Let's see whose see who is stubborn now!"

The turrets fired a blast of blue light at PAMA as Olivia continued to charge. PAMA quickly used Raven as a shield, but the blue light harmlessly washed over her, and became unstable when it washed over the female PAMA is controlling.

"You're firing Mana at me?" PAMA concluded in amusement. "Is that supposed to hurt me?"

"It's to distract you when I do this!" Olivia yelled as she pulled out a dispenser covered in blue veins, and a single button on top.

At the same time, Raven pulled out one of her obsidian daggers, and stabbed it into the arm that's holding her, severing the muscles which keeps the hand's grip maintained. The possessed female screamed as Raven fell onto the stone stairs while PAMA jerked back in pain; blood flowed out of the wound.

Olivia pressed the button, the veins on the dispenser glowed violently as she shoved the device into PAMA before kicking the female it is controlling down the stone stairs.

A few seconds later, the Mana from the turrets flowed into the device, despite the unstableness that happened when near the female, and the vein-covered dispenser glowed brighter before exploding.

KA-BOOM-!

The shockwave left cracks on the iron walls, shattered the stairs. Olivia shielded Raven with her own body as the blast went off, and are only on the remaining upper stairs because the makeshift bomb Olivia made detonated away from them.

"Good thing I kicked her down the stairs..." Olivia groaned, getting off of Raven as the injured girl made another white circle with smooth designs appeased under her.

"<Heal>" Raven whispered after she was done chanting. Olivia watched in amazement as she heard bones mend and muscle repair while Raven's light skin took on a healthier tone.

Raven got up from the ground, taking in a deep breath to confirm that she's completely healed. She then looked at Olivia. "You helped me... why?"

"I wasn't going to leave you to die," Olivia explained as the redstone turrets continued to fire streams of Mana at the explosion; fueling and maintaining it to keep PAMA at bay. Or at least destroy the body it is possessing. "Especially not with PAMA."

"So you know that thing." Raven stated as a fact, and glanced her golden eyes at the maintained explosion, but it's more of a blue sphere of destructive energy.

"I do, PAMA is the one that destroyed Redstonia." Olivia remembered sadly, getting up from the ground.

"I thought that was Jess?" Raven asked, confused as the both walked up the damaged stone stairs, side-by-side, as the blue streams of Mana passed over them and gave off an illumination.

"It was Jess," Olivia corrected bitterly. "She's the one who unleashed that monster."

"A demon would be more accurate." Raven criticized as they approached the top of the stairs, walking pass the severed golem arm. "But still, why did you help me, someone you just met?"

"You needed help," Olivia responded, much to Raven's surprise. "Even though you refused to help me, I can't hold a grudge."

"... Do you still need it?" Raven asked as they approached the storage room at the stop of the stairs. Resting. "I owe that much."

"I would appreciate it," Olivia smiled, despite her injuries.

"Here," Raven passed her a Potion of Healing she looted from the very room they're in. "Take it."

Olivia thanked her, drinking the potion as Raven did something extra. She made a quick chant as a white circle appeared under Olivia. "<Heal>"

After the light died down, the duo continued to the ladders that leads to the top of the inner wall. "Why do you do that?" Olivia asked, much to Raven's confusion. "You use cleric spells, that book on your hip contains the chants to cast them, yet you have the Illusionist Class."

"...It goes against my beliefs," Raven let out a sigh. "I believe that Mana disrupts the natural order Notch placed on this world he made."

"But what about all that stuff you made earlier?" Olivia reminded. "You do know clerics mix in the Mana with holy energy, right?"

"I restore the condition of the area to how they were before," Raven explained before looking at the dissipating pillars she erected earlier. "And the constructs fade over time."

"What about Herobrine?" Olivia asked curiously. "Why don't you use his destructive spells?"

"I honestly don't believe that he even exists," Raven shrugged. "I think people made him up during the reign of the Fourth Emperor to blame their evil actions on."

"You really believe that?" Olivia asked in disbelief as they climbed the ladder.

"I do." Raven reaffirmed as they finally reached the top of the wall. The harsh snowstorm greeted them. "But I'm not going to have an argument about religion with you. I believe in something, but I'm not going to force my beliefs on others; I'm not a cultist."

'At least she has some redeeming qualities.' Olivia thought to herself as they both ran on top of the wall. 'I thought I had to deal with another religious fanatic!'

As they ran across on top of the iron wall, which connects the six iron towers, Olivia can see Jesse and Petra walking out -in better moods too- before they bumped into Bailey. "Is that your friends?" Raven asked.

Olivia nodded, and gave the golden-eyed girl a smile, and looked back in the direction of her friends. "That's them, all we have to do now is- BAILEY!" Olivia screamed as Chai appeared out of nowhere, stabbed Bailey with her cleaver, and both fell off of the inner wall of iron.

Suddenly the wall they're standing on started to shake, turning their attention away from Jesse and Petra. The metal under them started to dip as Raven tacked Olivia out of way in time for the golem's fist, that Raven severed earlier, burst out of the ground while liquid metal coiled around it and dripped off back into it.

Both of them backed away, backs pressed against the doors of one of the iron towers as the wall they were standing on was reduced into a liquid state, and being pulled towards the mechanical fist; they had to cling onto the door to prevent them from getting pulled in.

They both watched in horror as the fist unfolded to reveal the female PAMA is possessing, standing on the metallic palm, and angrier than ever.

"Your move, meatbags." PAMA growled as liquid metal rose under the female, easily towering over the duo.

A/N: I'm back! Sorry, but not really, I've been feeling lazy~! So now this is Olivia's perspective of what's happening at the Clockwork Fortress, and next will be someone else's. And I'm foreshadowing the woman known as the Fourth Emperor.

In other news, Raven is an OC submitted by The_Winged_Warrior! I actually used to read her story Order of the Elements because it's one of the few good stories in the MCSM community, but I finished it.

Unlike some people, she doesn't complain, send me hate mail (Even though I still find it funny to read), and is patient. As a message to her, I plan to use your OC for something grand in the future. :)

Also, I've been receiving suggestions in my inbox that I should do a fic for Aphmau's role-play series, Dreams of Estorra. I like it, but there are things unclear in that show with so many questions unanswered! So maybe? IDK, it has the whole 'video game system' theme that I like, so I could do it and making it dark like usual. I already have something planned, but there is not really a plot for it. :p
