Chapter 56: Consequences Part 1

One month later

Lisa sat in her office at the Templar headquarters as she reread the report for the tenth time. "Four hundred funerals, over a thousand injured, and a dozen Templars are missing... all of it happening within a day."

She let out a sigh. It was that very same day that Jess revealed herself to everyone, even though there was no evidence, people put two and two together and knows it was her.

People wanted blood. The grieving families wanted Jess hunted, and brought to justice... but there simply wasn't any proof to arrest her for what she did. Jess is simply that clever.

Except for Lukas, may he rest in peace, as Jess brutally killing him in broad daylight, with multiple witnesses watching, but his body is still missing.

One thing that confuses her, and her husband who explained to Axel, Olivia, and Petra, even Aiden and Gill, is what Jess told her brother.

"...Shut it!" he screamed. "You just killed Lukas in cold blood...!"

"...No... Lukas died a long time ago." Jess replied cryptically, shaking her head, making her brother confused...

"Lukas died a long time ago..." Lisa quietly repeated out loud. What did Jess mean?

Then there is that girl, Bailey, who proudly claimed she healed Lukas. But she can't remember why she woke up on the ground, with a bruise on her face as Lukas' corpse was missing.

But since Lukas' body was the only evidence of Jess actually committing a crime, Bailey was sent to prison for tampering evidence as she was the last one near Lukas' corpse.

Maybe she actually did heal Lukas. But it's very hard to imagine that she healed him with a simple Potion of Healing since Jess stabbed him through the chest, and then jerking the blade downward as she sliced his organs into slush.

Bailey claimed that her potion was simply that good. So Lisa had skilled alchemists, even Gill, verify the quality of her potion-making skills.

The result was that her skills are advanced, but not enough to bring back someone who is dead. The news was shocking at first to Bailey, but then she added a possibility of Lukas not being dead in the first place, but simply injured.

Everyone looked at her like if she was an idiot. Well, she is desperate to prove that she's not a bad person who tampered with evidence of a murder, but what she just said was sad.

Lisa remembered, sarcastically, asking Bailey. "How do you simply become injured after being stabbed through the heart, getting sliced open, and having your organs ooze out of your wounds?!"

Even Gill imputed his opinion about her potions, simply because he has seen Jess' skills to compare it too. And Bailey's work looks like it was created by an overconfident noob in comparison.

How does he know this? Simply because he tried using Baily's potions on someone sick like his sister, Ana, but none of Bailey's potions even had the slightest potency of Jess's potions.

Ah, Ana. Who doesn't know about Gill's, ill sister?

Lisa remembers how devastated the man was after running home, reading the message Aiden delivered to him from Jess, and then seeing his sister gone from her room.

It didn't take long to figure out who abducted her, if the paper Aiden delivered to Gill was any indication.

You've seen what I could do, and yet you still tried to undercut me. Lets just hope your sister wiser than you when I pay her a visit.

But what was weird is Lisa and her Templars discovering red hair and cat fur at the crime scene...

Lisa remembered how Gill yelled, and begged them to something... after he insulted her husband and her friends. But she told him, like she told him before like the last time he tried to get their help, there is nothing she can do.

So people tried to take justice into their own hands by going after Jess... except that none of them returned, adding even more paperwork for her to do as she constantly updates the 'missing persons' file.

But after a month? The file needed its own small room to fit all of the documents of all of the people who left to hunt Jess down, and never came back. Adding even more fear and hatred towards her sister-in-law.

Then there was the bounty. Ever since Magnus went and sent a message to Ellegaard about Jess, she updated the bounty poster for an even bigger reward.

But what they didn't know, was that Magnus was sending her an update description of Jess, so people can easily recognize her.

That just made things worse. The one thing about heroes is that they can inspire. So guilds, of magic, combat, and science, in the City put up their own bounties of Jess, promising rewards for her capture, to put her in jail, and so they could study her abilities.

Lisa had a real headache trying to deal with that, not to mention the anxiety her husband has been getting from all of this.

Not because of the people going after Jess, he's worried about what Jess will do to the people going after her.

But the real sad thing about all of this is that they couldn't spend any time to try and find their daughter, Jennifer. Lisa leaned back in her chair and let out a tired sigh.

This doesn't make any sense! From what Aiden, Gill, Axel, even her husband, has described Jess' personality to cold, bored while she sees everyone as a waste of her time.

But what everyone witnessed at the Tournament is that Jess is full of pure fury mixed with strife and hatred. Not to mention her sadistic, and cunning, nature as she caused so much chaos.

What changed? Lisa knew the answer: Ellegaard stole something from Jess, according to her husband. Something so important to her that Jess would unleash a Chaos Sorcerer, abduct her daughter and Gill's sister, Ana, frame Aiden, kill her Templars, steal from the Astrolabe Vault, and killed and wounded so many people!

She did all of this... in a day! Not to mention how she planned this when she encountered the Ocelots in the Twilight Forest.

Getting Lukas' jacket, stitching Aiden's name on it, leaving it in Jennifer's room to be discovered along with her missing so Aiden would be framed. Then she 'killed' Maya, ripping out her illusionist Mana Core so Jess could use it to gain access to the Ocelot's home.

Then there was their attempt to actually stop Jess, foil her plan at the Tournament with Gill after he begged them to help. Who knew she was there, still in the house, when Gill opened the secret door that lead to the hidden, underground room?

No one. But, and Lisa would never admit it, Jess did have a point. Sure, she was 'invisible', but she wasn't inaudible, and Gill should have been able to hear her leave the house. He has that Mana security system for crying out loud!

So what did Ellegaard stole?! Lisa would have personally go to Redstonia to get some answers if she wasn't so busy trying to clean up the mess Jess left behind.

Good thing Olivia decided to go see her redstone teacher as she is Ellegaard's apprentice. But honesty, and everyone could clearly see, Olivia and Axel needed some time apart.

Sure, they love and care for each other. They're even engaged. But Olivia's arrogance and pride, and how she constantly reminds him how he's not as smart as her, really worn down Axel's patience with her.

Axel may not be a genius, but that doesn't automatically make him a moron. So it was naturally unfair of Olivia to treat him like that.

Lisa didn't say it, but Olivia needs to learn humility, and accept people's flaws, not remind them of it!

You would think that getting outmatched by Jess in a golem fight, who didn't even use any golems to fight Olivia's golems by the way, would teach her not to rely so much on redstone, stick and support your allies, and be a bit more respectful.

But nope, Olivia simply denied it. Every time Axel tried to help her, she would take her frustration out on him, and everyone else.

Still, even though Lisa isn't into redstone, she can't help but wonder about the things Jess said when she was in disguise.

Jess knew about the hidden mechanics, how the golems move, how they would fight, and their weaknesses. Olivia claimed she never showed anyone the golems except Ellegaard. So how did Jess know?

Maybe it was through Spying? Espionage? Analyzing the golems? Who knows...

A Templar walked in, kneeling before her, and snapping out of her thoughts. "Sorry for interrupting Commander," he said. "but besides me, you're the only one still here. Do you not wish to go back home?"

That took Lisa by surprise. She looked at the clock in the room to see that it an hour before midnight. "Of course, thank you Timothy, you're dismissed."

The Templar, Timothy, nodded and left, Lisa following a minute later as she locked everything up and walked back to her house.

She glanced at the stars above and the street lamps bellow, her Templars are patrolling the streets, keeping the order in check as she finally arrived home.

Everyone was still awake. Jesse. Petra. Axel. Reuben. They all glanced at her as her husband walked up to her and gave Lisa a hug. "Welcome home," he greeted.

She looked at Jesse. He is still wearing an eye-patch over his right eye, but right before she could respond...

KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-!

Someone knocked on their door. Lisa let out a sigh. Probably another family demanding her to hunt Jess down...

But to her surprise, it was Timothy, the Templar from earlier. He kneeled again, "Forgive me, Commander, but-"

"Timothy." Lisa interrupted, her voice is full of exhausted frustration. "It's late, I'm tired, and I only have a few hours of sleep, and even little to spend time with my husband and friends, before I repeat another overworked day. So stand up and spit it out!"

He quickly got up, standing straight. "There are about a dozen or so people from Redstonia at the front gate, mam." Timothy reported, much to her surprise. "Your friend, Olivia, is among them."

"So why haven't you let them in?" asked a stressed Lisa.

"The problem is that there are other species with her." Timothy explained. "Dryads."

"The race of peaceful nature people who can also control the environment?" asked Lisa for confirmation as Timothy nodded. She just couldn't believe it.

Dryads are a species that live isolated in dense, isolated, forest areas who are legendary with nature magic, but don't use any Mana. So naturally people tried to capture and study them, but fighting in the area that they can manipulate at will? That's suicide.

Why would Olivia have dryads with her? They don't like leaving their homes, or blindly follow other humans.

"Tell them I'll be there." She said, and a second later she closed the door, told everyone inside about the situation.

So she left her home, gave her husband a quick kiss before arrived at the giant gate of the City, Lisa wearing her Templar armor. The gate is 10 blocks thick, and all of it made out of obsidian, and framed with gold. It looked nice compared to the iron walls of the City.

She saw her Templars are at the gate, the moment they saw her, they saluted and stood still like statues. "At ease," She dismissed them. "And open that gate so I go to sleep!"

They scrambled to work the controls, not wanting to upset their exhausted leader as the huge gate rose up, and let the people who are outside in. The first thing Lisa noticed was they were tired, injured... and afraid?

"Lisa!" screamed Olivia as she rushed inside. The other Templar's rushing everyone else inside to get them treated for their injuries, giving them food. But they occasionally glanced at the dryads.

"Olivia, what happened?" shouted Lisa as she gestured to Olivia's torn cloths, and injured and dirty body.

"It was Jess," screamed Olivia. "She destroyed Redstonia!"

A/N: So yeah, i introduced a mythical species into the story, all of it will lead up to something grand... and dark.

Anyways, shout out to The_FNAF_MCSM_Person who guessed on how Ellegaard stole something from Jess. More importantly, how they met. I love it when someone tries to interact and think about my work; the unknowns.

But I'm not going to confirm anything because it will all be revealed soon, but the question remains. What did Ellegaard stole? And where da heck is Lukas?!
