Chapter 43: Order

Jess looked back at the transformed Templar, the one who suddenly mutated and started all of this bloodshed. "Tell Cassie to get ready. It's almost time to start the plan."

And with that command, the mutated Templar gabbed her deformed head, and twisted it into an unnatural angle as a CRACK! echoed through the crystal chamber.

Jess watched the body drop to the floor as she grabbed the contents of the vault, and walked away. Stepping on Jeff's glasses on her way out.

----------

Winslow woke up as he let out a yawn before stretching. Hopping off of his owner's lap before sitting down in front of her.

Cassie looked at her loyal pet. "Yes?" she asked as he replied silently.

"..."

"Really?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't believe you could actually do it."

"..."

"Well, that does make sense." She shrugged. "Anything else?"

"..."

"Well, if she says so." Said Cassie as she stood up. "Save my seat for me."

"..."

"Of course I'll bring you something~!" she said, petting Winslow. And with that, she walked down the many stairs that lead to the exit of the coliseum as her pet sat on her seat.

----------

"Commander, target is on the move!" Reported a Templar, rushing in and then kneeling in front of Lisa. "I repeat, target is on the move!"

"Send out the scouts." She ordered. "Follow, observe, and-"

They both noticed a black butterfly gently land on her shoulder. Its wings flapping slowly, and eventually stopped as if it reached the limit of its lifespan.

"Jeff?"

The butterfly turned into black mist. Tiny streams of it coiled around her head, as with the Templar kneeling before her.

Information was quick, but clear as glass. 'The Astrolabe Vault has been breached.'

"Damn it!" she swore, stomping her foot in frustration as she created a large crack.

"Commander, what do we do?!" frantically said the Templar, no longer kneeling.

"I'll go." Said Lisa. "Rally the troops at HQ, and send them to the vault." she said as she walked out.

"What about the girl?" asked the Templar, following her out.

"Forget her," said Lisa as they exited the coliseum. "Send a small scouting party, observe, follow, and do not engage."

And with that the Templar rushed towards the Templar headquarters, telling them the news of the breach. About ten minutes later they are finally done with the preparations to reach the secret location of the Astrolabe Vault.

A portal appeared as dozens of Templars rushed through to see the carnage before them. Lisa was alone, with shock and horror on her face as she stood alone inside the empty Astrolabe Vault.

Some were angry, others grieving over their fallen allies, and a few threw up as they saw the mutated Templar; black tar still dripping from her eyes like tears.

"Commander," said a Templar, stepping forward, attracting everyone's attention, and afraid of Lisa's superiority. "I know this a lot to ask... but what the hell was inside the vault?! What could be so important that someone would do all of this?!" he gestured to the surrounding destruction.

After that, he let out a shaky breath as everyone else watched with wide eyes. He just shouted at the Commander for Notch's sake!

But instead of the normal, angry reaction and yelling about insubordination and disrespect, Lisa just let out a tired sigh. "Look, I can't tell you anything." She started, much to everyone's disappointed curiosity. "But I can tell you something."

She walked out of the empty vault, and sat down on the bloodstained ground. "Let me tell you an educated lesson about magic, the reason why the first Templar only told one person about the contents of the Astrolabe Vault, and why someone would kill for it."

Cassie Rose walked down the streets of the City until she reached the public park. No one is around since everyone went to see the fights of the Tournament.

She suddenly saw Jess, sitting down on a nearby bench, wearing her casual cloths. She patted the space next to her as Cassie went over to sit down.

"You know, it's scary how you're plans work down to the letter." She complimented, breaking the blissful silence. "Knowing your sister-in-law would pull more Templars away form the Astrolabe Vault? That's freaky, considering what I am."

[110]

"I'm well aware of what you are, Cassie." Said Jess, staring up at the clouds. "As for my plan, I had another great teacher. Nothing compared to Ivor. He never talked, but he taught so much."

"Whoa, that's deep." Cassie replied, impressed. "How did you even know where the Astrolabe Vault is located?"

Jess gave Cassie a serious look. "I have connections in really dark places, Cassie. You know that." She scolded. "Trust me, you don't want to know more about my informant."

"Well, you did tell me he's is a demon." She said, recalling the name of the demon. "Is Maura that bad?"

"No, nothing like that." Jess replied, shaking her head. "Even though he eats hearts, the problem with Maura is that he's very convincing. He once told me that he convinced a priest to sell his own soul."

[78]

"So what's next?" asked Cassie. "Do I start the plan?"

"Yep." Jess said, passing Cassie a bag, containing the contents of the Astrolabe Vault. "Inside is everything you'll need."

Cassie couldn't be happier. Jess really gave her the one thing she was looking for. "Oh, Cassie, one more question." Said Jess, snapping Cassie's attention back to the one-armed female. "Why didn't you notice you're being followed by now?"

[22]

Even though the three Templar scouts are wearing helmets, hiding out of sight, they know they have a shocked expression on their faces.

CRACK!

One of them, Eric, looked to the side to see Cassie standing over his dead partner, an axe made out of crimson energy chopped onto his head.

He looked to his other side to see black threads ripping out a blue-ish orb out of his comrade's chest, retracting it back to Jess's open hand.

He then stared at the ring on her ring finger. It's made out of barbed wire, and has jagged numbers on the slab where a gemstone would be.

It's counting down!

"Zero" she whispered as he collapsed on the ground, trapped in an illusion of his worst nightmares for 666 seconds. "Let your sanity drown in despair..."

She ripped out his Templar Mana Core and walked away. Cassie followed suit, conjuring a crimson fireball in her hand as she used it to incinerate the corpse.

Jess mentally smirked. Her plan worked. While she was disappointed that Lisa would send only three Templars, now she has a Class that can negate Mana.

But most importantly, Cassie has one as well. Now, it's time for everything to fall into place.

Since the Templars are in such a state of panic, and being spread thin because of the Tournament and the breach of the Astrolabe Vault, it's no surprise the two girls were not apprehended for committing murder in broad daylight.

Later on, no one will know how the Templar on the street went insane. An hour later, they will find him dead as he will be hanging on the ceiling with a rope tied around his neck.
