Chapter 3: Mercy

Jess couldn't believe what she saw; she couldn't believe that she of all people had to run into Gabriel the freak'n Warrior himself!

"Why is he here?!" she mentally screamed. "Of all people, it had to be that false hero!"

Now while Gabriel was not a hero, he is still a warrior. A warrior with a diamond longsword, combat experience, and wearing armor that is stronger than diamond.

Ivor told her about it because he's the one who made it.

----------

"So you made all of the armor that the Order of the Stone wears?!" Jess asked, amazed as Ivor smiled. Telling her stories inside her room as he prepped her medicine.

"Technically no, I did the research to create it, but they built it themselves." He replied. "I was more focused on knowledge and theory, than swords, explosives, or building."

"What about Ellegaard? She seems like the one who would go crazy to research knowledge like that." Said Jess.

It was then Ivor's smile turned into a disappointed frown. "She's only interested in redstone. Saying that what I was doing is impossible!" he shouted. "Such a hypocrite when it comes to impossibility since she creates new machines that no one thought was possible."

"But why did you create the armor in the first place?"

He just shook his head. "I just wanted to do something special for my friends. I was a real idiot for doing that." He said with a scowl. "While they complemented my work, they didn't thank me for it. And Ellegaard just pointed out the flaws, instead of appreciating my hard work! It took me months to make those!"

"Flaws?" Jess asked as Ivor let out a sigh. "Yes Jess, there is one flaw of the armor I made..."

----------

She shook her head of that memory. Who knew it would come in handy? She looked to see just in time for Gabriel to run up to her, pulling her away from her minions. "Are you okay? Did those monsters hurt you?" he asked, glancing at her missing arm, pointing his weapon at the armed monsters.

It was then Jess got an idea. "They tried to attack me!" she said with a fake fear. For her, it was easy to replicate it. She pulled out Conquest from her Inventory. "I was just trying to find a safe place for the night, reading my book, then those things attacked me!" she screamed with 'panic'.

"Please help me," Jess said with fake emotion. "I don't want to die!" she said, pretending to break down crying. The tears that dripped onto the floor were not of fear, but from the pain caused by Jess when she bit her own tongue on purpose.

"Don't worry mam, just get outside." Gabriel said, turning his attention to the monsters, determination in his eyes. "I will make sure you get out of this safely." He said heroically, resting his longsword on his shoulder. "These foul creatures will perish, for I am Gabriel the warrior!" he shouted a war cry, charging at her monsters. Believing that he's rescuing a damsel in distress.

It was the second Gabriel turned away from Jess, she opened Conquest, to the Party list. One thing that she could do was send mental messages to all members of the Party. As Gabriel started his heroic dialogue, she quickly, sent her Zombie, Hulk, a mental message to put all 40 of his stat points into DEX, bringing it up to 45.

She quickly had her skeleton, Bones, to split his 60 stat points, and put half into STR and the other into DEX, bringing them to 34 and 35 respectively. She mentally ordered her spider, Legs, to quickly climb up to the ceiling where he distributed his 50 points, increasing STR to 42 and his DEX to 27 as Gabriel finished his speech, charging at them.

When Gabriel charged, Jess sent Hulk a mental command of what to do as she did with the rest of her monsters. She then walked outside of the temple as the fight started.

When Gabriel was in range, he stopped, then spin around as he generated momentum to swing his longsword counterclockwise in a huge arc at the monsters. Only for the skeleton and zombie to duck, then Hulk tackled Gabriel onto the ground, putting all of his strength and weight into it as he slammed the warrior onto the stone floor.

Gabriel kicked him off, sending Hulk flying into a wall. It was then an arrow flew past Gabriel's face from his left side. He turned to the left to see that Bones moved from his previous location. While still holding his longsword, he used it to block and deflect the arrows being fired at him by Bones as Gabriel slowly advanced.

The arrows flew at Gabriel with such speed, accuracy, and force. He couldn't block all of them, some managed to hit him, but only bounced off his armor. After he blocked another arrow, he quickly charged at the skeleton, his longsword at his side as he punched the skeleton with his free hand, causing Bones to stumble back. A second later, Gabriel turned a full clockwise spin, generating momentum that sent the skeleton crashing into a wall.

It was then Legs leaped from the ceiling, pouncing on Gabriel, slamming him face-first onto the ground. A second later, Legs leaped off of Gabriel and crawling back onto the ceiling. Gabriel tried to get up, only for Hulk to jump on his back, creating a small crater.

Gabriel turned onto his back, throwing off Hulk onto the floor and stood up on his feet. Gabriel waked up to Hulk, pressed his foot on his chest, holding him down as he gripped his longsword with both hands in a reverse grip.

He raised it above his head, bringing it down to smite the zombie, only for an arrow to hit the top of his longsword, redirecting to hit the floor instead of Hulk's head. Legs jumped down from the ceiling again, landing on Gabriel's face, and caused him to thrash around as he tried to get the spider off him.

"Get off me!" but the large spider muffled his words. But what Gabriel didn't see was that Jess quietly ran back into he temple, grabbed Gabriel's longsword that was still in the ground, and placed it in her Inventory. As Gabriel's vision was still blocked, she then threw a splash Potion of Blindness at Gabriel, but Legs was affected too.

Unable to see, he didn't see that Hulk was running up to him. He tackled and grabbed him as he lifted Gabriel up about an inch off the ground while running straight into a wall with full force. Hulk stepped back, letting Gabriel slide down back onto his feet. He then charged at Gabriel again, slamming him into the wall and repeated the process until Jess sent a mental message to stop.

It was then Gabriel punched Hulk off him as he slowly stood up from the wall. He didn't even look hurt as his armor didn't have a scratch on it. But after Gabriel took on step forward, he clutched his stomach, violently coughed blood onto the floor, and collapsed face-first on the puddle of his own blood. The Potion of Blindness worn off, just in time to see Jess, staring at him cold eyes as he drifts into unconsciousness.

----------

"Blunt force?" Jess questioned. "That's the weakness?"

"Yes." Ivor said. "Simply put, I made the armor too tough. Here, let me show you." He said, pulling out a potion half full with water. "Pretend that this glass bottle is the armor, and the water inside is the person, completely protected."

He then started to violently shake the bottle as Jess watched the liquid inside become foamy and bubbly. "When hit with enough force, their insides are shaken up and around. The armor itself shouldn't take any damage, but it cannot neutralize any internal shock to the wearer."

"How did Ellegaard find out about this flaw?" Jess asked. "Was she near a TNT explosion?"

Ivor then let out a chuckle. "Close, it was actually because of Magnus-" he was cut off by the sound of the temple being broken into. He and Jess was deathly quiet, careful to not make a sound. Ivor quickly grabbed his weapons, potions, and locked Jess in her room by removing all redstone signals to her iron door.

"Stay here, and be quiet." He then proceeded to fight off the intruders.

----------

She once again shook off that memory. She looked at the down form of Gabriel the Warrior, the false hero, a liar. Seeing him act like a hero made her sick, giving a grand dialogue, showing off his bravado... it made her sick. "Is this what Ivor felt?" she asked herself.

She wanted to kill him so badly, to make him bleed... but that is Ivor's reward, not hers. He should be the one to finish him, and the other members of the Order. So Jess pulled out a bed from her Inventory, setting it down, and placed Gabriel in it. She then left a chest near the bed, so when he wakes up, he'll open it to find food, water, and Health Potions.

After reinforcing the entrance so no monsters will kill him before Ivor, she walked through the night, resting at one of her previous dirt huts she made. She then opened her book to check what her level is from the 10,000 Experience she received from the previous quest; only to be surprised.

Your Party has defeated Gabriel the Warrior and received 20,000 Experience. After distribution, all four Party members have individually received 5,000 Experience.

Quest: Past Conflict, has been completed. 25,000 Experience and 50 Divine have been rewarded.

Bonus Objective: Failed. You didn't cripple Gabriel.

She really wished that she would get notifications for stuff like this. Instead, she has to constantly check the book for any updates. If she knew about the bonus, she could have cut off an arm, or both arms, and maybe a leg! But no, she missed an opportunity. But at least she gained something from out of this besides Gabriel's longsword. She then looked at her current level.

[Jesse]

Level 39

Exp: 200/3900

Title: N/A.

HP: 49/49

STR: 2

DEX: 7

VIT: 10

INT: 4

WIS: 8

LUK: 10

Points: 76

Divine Points: 160

'I have 76 stat points?! I can't wait to put them to use.' She thought cheerfully and then looked at purchasable skills section.

Do to repeated action, the skills [Commander] and [Battlefield] is now available for purchase.

Commander (Passive) Level 1 Cost: 50 Divine Points

You now can send mental orders to your soldiers/minions/allies without any verbal communication.

Fighting is 20% more efficient.

Battlefield (Active) Level 1 Cost: 50 Divine Points

When in conflict, you now have access to a 3D map of your surroundings that only you can see. This map will show enemies, allies/soldiers/minions, all color- coded to tell apart.

Range of map is determined by skill level.

With the former, she wouldn't need to hold the book, and use the Party to communicate to her minions. With the latter, she will be able to see where everyone is and fight more strategically.

So it is worth buying, and she does have enough for both of them, but she needs to buy skills that will help her get more Divine Points in the long run. So after much thought, she spent 100 Divine Points to buy the skill [Divine Respect], leaving her with 60.

[Divine Respect] (Passive) level 1

You can now align yourself to a god. You will gain quests from this god, and doing certain actions that pleases this god will grant you Divine Points.

It was then two orbs floated out of her book, into the air; one white and the other black. Her minions were avoiding the white orb, but seemed more comfortable with the black orb. Then a new text appeared in the book.

Please choose your allegiance to your god.

[Notch]

He is creator of people, animals and the Overworld. A kind, gentle being that shows compassion and aid for others.

[Herobrine]

He is the creator of monsters and the Nether. An evil, cold, and merciless being that shows no remorse for slaughtering living beings.

"So which one should I choose?" she asked out loud.
