Chapter 19: Boom Part 1
Sometime in the far future
"Aunty, people say you are dangerous." Jennifer said.
"So? I don't care." She replied.
"Why?" she asked her aunt curiously.
"The word 'Dangerous', is a word too small to describe someone who's lethal as me." she replied.
----------
I had Steam transport me through the Nether. Three years have passed and this is the only place that never changed.
My black cloak whipping behind my as we flew at great speed as I'm wearing my diamond armor, but I don't bother putting on my wither skull anymore. Everyone knows my appearance, I don't leave any witnesses, and people can just Scribe me to find my name.
But I don't have to worry about people finding out about the stuff I did, my intentions. Scribing is just a really diluted form of [Observe]. If Scribing revealed that, then my brother wouldn't have tried to bring me back.
No... he would have simply become horrified, then disgusted, then angry.
I don't know if it was because he wasn't strong enough to find out more information about me, or the spell was simple that weak.
I can't confirm this unless I encounter someone who can Scribe me, and reveal all the things I did. So for now, people can only see my name, Class, and level.
I do wish I could get a title though, but I'll simply figure it out later. I'm sure I can earn one if I do something for Notch or Herobrine.
For now, the fire, the lava, and the intense heat, and it just makes me feel... welcomed. But sadly, that came to an end when I finally reached my destination.
I had him land next to a Nether Portal at the end of the, very long, minecart tracks, created by the Order of the Stone. I stepped though it, my ghast following me shortly.
Then second that I did, I saw nothing but a barren desert... only to feel nothing under my feet either. I would have fallen if Steam didn't catch me with his tentacles and lowered me to the ground.
I don't understand. There should be something here. I looked around before looking behind me.
It was a city of chaos and explosions, created by the unstable member of the Order of the Stone: Magnus. He created a perfect place for people with poor impulse control and lethal hobbies.
"That's so dumb, why would they have the portal high up on the 'Boom Town' sign? They could seriously break a leg." I asked out loud. "And make it so that it's facing the way from the city? I guess they wanted people to notice the easy prey."
I then walked into the city.
"Good thing I'm the predator."
They say art is the reflection of the creator, and Magnus' art is a reflection of an idea that got way out of hand.
So a city that he created where greifers are permitted to cause chaos without any restraint. A fun idea that he made a reality, but like Ivor told me: he bit off more than he could chew.
Since he's a famous griefer, the founder of the kingdom, and skilled enough to prove it, he's naturally the king.
However, that doesn't stop his citizens from trying to take his position of power since he, stupidly, made a law that whoever can beat him, will take his position as king.
So naturally, everyone will be after him, and from what Ivor told me, Magnus hides in an obsidian tower.
But ever since the Triple Devastation... that information has become less valuable. As I walk into the large, destructive kingdom, and I saw not one, but seven obsidian towers.
But I don't need to search every tower; I can have my minion do it all at once. I had Steam roam around in the air, so he can keep the citizens occupied with his destruction.
I even brought Box with me. Except that I have him in a harness that's securely tied to my back.
It's not unnatural to see monsters here in Boom Town, especially since some of the citizens are Necromancers who can spawn zombies and skeletons; or the Conjurers summoning mobs from the Nether.
There are Wizards who can shoot lighting from their staffs, an Illusionist that could make you hit your own friends, and don't get me started on the Red Mages; people who can use Mana to manipulate redstone related items.
Still, it's dangerous to be here. There's only one unspoken rule in Boom Town: If you're trying to recruit Boom Town to join the war, then you're automatically everyone's enemy. The people here don't like outsiders, or the war, or the people trying to recruit them into it.
But I do find it weird that they unwind from the horrors of the Triple Devastation by fighting each other. Even though I'm not from the war, they won't just sit and listen while I explain myself.
And if they knew the real reason I'm here, they would all hunt me down.
So to avoid any unwanted attention, I used [Leap] to jump on top of one of the obsidian towers. I then used [Geo-Kinesis] to open a hole in the top, closing it above me as I entered. But I didn't find Magnus.
Instead I found large, complicated runes that is carved into the quartz floor. After using [Observe], I found out that it's a respawn room for the citizens of Boomtown.
"So when they die from all the chaos, they come back here." I say, impressed. "And to think that Magnus is the one who researched, and perfected it."
Well, perfected isn't the right word. From the description of [Observe], it says that it is pretty painful.
Then, they go to stand on one of the five glass platforms that teleport them somewhere in Boom Town. All five of them are color-coded so you'll know what area you are being transported to in Boom Town.
Again, Magnus is the one who researched teleportation. So once again, I'm impressed. Then it all made sense why he built seven towers.
One of these towers is his hiding spot, but people wouldn't be able to tell from the outside because they all look the same, and will think that it's another respawn tower.
A smart tactic, hiding in plain sight, and these people here wouldn't know it either; with people thinking that it's another respawn point, and with so many others, they won't question it.
I saw the runes on the quartz floor glow, emitting a small hum. I used [Leap] to jump, and used [Geo-Kinesis] to protrude a block of obsidian from the walls for me to land on.
A second later someone respawned. He was a big guy, wearing his green cloths, brown shorts, and black finger-less gloves.
[Axel] Level 244
Title: The Gentle Giant.
Class: Berserker
Axel is part of the Order of the Pig, champions of the Building Competition. He is quick to anger, but his heart is in the right place.
He is currently engaged to Olivia, a good friend and his soon-to-be wife. He regrets the mean things that he did to his friend Jess and hopes to make amends.
I rolled my eyes at the description; he's too stupid to know what regret is. But Axel and Olivia getting married?! Dang, that's just... too much to process.
I would so ambush him right now. Beat his skull into the floor as break his fingers on by one... but I might damage the respawn rune that I'll savage later. So I hid on top of my hiding spot and eavesdropped on him.
"Dang it!" he shouted in frustration. "That stupid necromancer chassed me away from the loot, then a ghast comes by and kills me!"
Then another person respawned, a necromancer named Tomas.
"You!" shouted Axel, angry.
"You?!" shouted the necromancer, in panic as he backed away from my former friend.
"I lost some sweet loot because of you!" he shouted. "Then a black ghast comes by and kills me!"
The necromancer has a look of thinking. "Wait, a black ghast?" he asked.
"Yeah." He said, nodding. "Black, small, and purple; freaky, with a side of strange." Then he glared at Tomas. "Was that your ghast?" he asked dangerously.
"What? No!" he shouted "That thing killed me too! I even lost my equipment." He said sadly.
"Yeah, too bad we don't keep our items when we respawn." Said Axel sympathetically. Of course he would bond with someone with his stupid passion for loot!
"Dude!" Axel said excitedly. "Let's team up!"
"Really?" Tomas said, questionably. "Aren't you mad that I took your loot?"
"Eh, I got over it." shrugged Axel. "But now I got a cool necromancer to back me up! Are you in?" he said, extending his hand.
"What will happen if we find Magnus?" he asked. "Even if we defeat him, who will be the king?"
"I could always use a partner." offered Axel.
Tomas seemed to think for a second before shaking his hand. "Let's do it!" he said excited.
"Yeah!" cheered Axel as they ran onto the red glass platform before teleporting away.
I let out a deep, angry breath. "Damn it." I whisper. I really wanted to punch that stupid face of his.
But then I realized something much more... profitable. I'm in a city full of powerful people who have Classes I can forcibly take with [Grim Harvest].
I originally came back for Magnus, but now I think I can have fun now. I came back to the top of the tower I pulled out the Flask that held Blink's many micro sized eyes.
I pulled the cork off and dumped its contents out, the wind scattering it around the whole kingdom. "Find Magnus, and people of special interests who qualify for the project." I ordered, and waited as I saw Steam shooting a rain of fire charges below.
Hearing the screams and explosions... it was so calming.
It was then I saw a cluster of Blink's eyes swirling around a specific obsidian tower. "So that's where he is."
I saw a few small clusters scattered around, following people. "And those are the people of special interest."
I wanted to get to Magnus first by scouting with Blink's eyes, but I can spare some time.
