Chapter 16: End Part 5

"But why doesn't War talk?" ask Ivor as they walked back to Death's throne room.

"Because War is stupid." She stated bluntly. "He can create a strategy that will wipe out thousands with only a dozen to work with, but he cannot learn to speak."

"Couldn't you have done something?" asked Jess.

Death just shook her head. "I tried, and I'm still trying, but I just don't have the resources anymore. I need something that can translate thoughts into speech, but even that is out of my capabilities, especially since I'm lacking the resources to do so."

"It's a challenge, but it will be worth it for my younger brother." Said Death with determination.

"You would go through all of that, just for your brother?" asked Jess.

"I would do it for all of my siblings, we've had trouble with each other in the past, but we are still family." Death said without hesitation. "I love them all. Wouldn't you do the same for your brother?"

She held War in her hand, and stared straight at it, not saying a thing. "..." She didn't want to answer that, but she didn't know how.

Would she do anything at all for her brother Jesse? It's because of him that she's in this mess.

Then again, it's not his fault. He didn't intentionally try to ruin Jess' life, it just happened. It's really Axel, Olivia, Petra, and Reuben's fault. Isn't it?

The signs were clear, but she simply denied it. Maybe if she had a backbone back then, maybe she could have stood up for herself instead of crying.

Maybe she would have realized that they weren't really friends at all. She would have left earlier, start a new life, and be happy.

Maybe moved back to her hometown, find someone to settle down with, and find a steady job that she's happy with.

Maybe starts a family, watch the days go by as her child grows up, visit her mothers graves every week. Then after being at peace with her life, she gently drifts into eternal sleep known as death.

That's a lot of 'maybe'... but should she be grateful that it didn't happen?

She found Ivor, a true friend who can relate to her pain, and even though what he went through was much worse, he is still strong despite everything that happened to him.

She found power to enslave mobs, to create blocks that people would dream about. She defeated a royal descendent and took his sword. She is genius in potions, thanks to Ivor, and has the potential for more.

She even found love; something that people spend their whole loves looking for, and she was lucky enough to have found it.

So in a really messed up way... she should be thanking her former friends.

She must have been staring at War for a very long time, because Death and Ivor are having a different conversation. She walked up to the to hear what they were talking about.

"Hold on, you're 16 years old?" asked Ivor.

"Well, yeah. Obviously!" she said. "Do I look like I'm thousands of years old?!"

"...BUT WE ARE THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD, SISTER...! HOW ARE YOU SO YOUNG...?" Conquest asked. "YOU'RE PHYSICAL BODY WOULD HAVE SUCCUMED TO TIME... AND YOU WOULD HAVE DIED OF OLD AGE..."

She just gave her "I know something that you don't" look, smirking all the while. But she decided to explain; they are family after all.

"Let's start from the beginning." Death started. "When our creators, the Old Builders, locked me up here in this pocket dimension, they didn't exactly close the door as tight as they thought they did."

She then created her signature red-black portal with a wave of her hand.

"I modified the door, turning it into an intangible window. I can see the world, in any dimension, in any time frame. I sometimes pull in stuff through that window, stuff like objects, blocks, mobs... and people."

As it was swirling, she reached out her hand towards it. Black wisps of smoke started to leak from her outstretched hand as it seeped into the portal.

It was then the smoke became straight as a line, then Death pulled back, and bringing someone through the portal. He was a man, with black hair and tan skin. His body is covered with various injuries; mostly ones related to cave spiders.

Jess immediately recognized this person. He was one of the slaves she freed from the Kingdom of the Sand... and sent them in a direction of a sealed off mine, trapping them with cave spiders.

At least one of them was smart enough to survive. The rest could die for all she cared.

Before he could say anything, Death gently placed her hand on his head... and pushed him off the edge, into the acid below. He screamed for only a few seconds, but he didn't die until a minute later.

His skin melted like his vocal cords, then his bones and organs, and eventually he just dissolved into the liquid. There wasn't a trace of him left.

"People are like animals. They taste so good, but they can really annoy you." She said casually, walking away from the edge. "Like Reuben, for example?"

It was then Jess froze. Hearing the name of that animal, her former best friend, that tackled her off the edge of a cliff. "... He's just a pig, and to think that a pig of all things was my best friend... that's just really sad."

"But if you can pull things in, why don't you leave?" asked Ivor, changing the subject. "Staying in the same place forever seems quite boring." he stated, stroking his beard.

She just shrugged. "The window is a one-way thing. I can pull things in, but I can't push things out."

"So we're stuck here?!" said Jess and Ivor simultaneously.

She just waved off their concerns. "No, of course not. When you used my siblings to force your way in here, you widen the hole of the window, big enough for me to influence it, change it, and allow me to do so much more."

"... BUT HOW ARE YOU SO YOUNG... WHEN WE HAVE AGED...?"

"I'm in the Void, my main element. Time doesn't exist here while the other dimension go on."

"So time is still flowing?" asked Ivor.

"Yep." Said Death. "If I was going by the standard units of time...I say you all have been here for about 35 months? If you give or take a month."

"But we have only been here for an half an hour!" screamed Jess.

"Time marches on, with or without us. And those who don't catch up will end up like me; forgotten and alone." She said sadly, hugging herself, remembering the isolation.

"What could happen in three whole years?" Said Jess, pondering the variables.

"You'd be surprised what could happen in one day." Said Ivor, remembering the betrayal of his friends. He shook his head of that memory. "Well can we go then?!" shouted Ivor. "I don't want to go back, and see that a million years have passed!"

But the real reason was that he wanted to get his revenge. It wouldn't be satisfying to expose the Order of the Stone when they are no longer around, now would it?

"Hold on, before we do, I need to talk to you Death." She said, turning to her, her face serious.

"We need to make some rules." Said Jess. "I will make time for you, I will bond with you, and I'll try everyday to make you smile." She said, giving Death hope.

"But," she continued. "you need to change. You need to stop eating people, I kill people, but eating them is completely different."

"And the one thing I will never accept is harming children." Jess said coldly. "Do I make myself clear?"

"...I knew you were the one for me~!" she said, running up to Jess, and picking her up bridal style, swinging her around in joy.

"Yes, yes, this is all very touching!" Said Ivor. "Now, can we please go home?!"

"But can't we stay a little longer?" said Death, pouting, still holding Jess.

"No." he said bluntly. "We have to get home, and quests to claim." Ivor said, "We've had enough of the End for one lifetime." Death put down Jess and willed the red-black portal to appear and they all stepped through.

Then it all went so wrong.

They didn't know what was going on, but it wasn't home. They were in a grey, fog-like area, with nothing but their surprised faces.

Ivor felt something in his Inventory, and pulled out the Command Block, except that it is glowing red with a black aura.

"You didn't tell me you had the Command Block!" Death said, panicking.

"Why?" Said Jess. "Death, what's wrong?" she asked concerned.

"The Command Block was the very thing that built my prison!" she shouted. "It's also the security system-!"

The Command Block unleashed a shockwave, everyone flying away from it, except Ivor.

It was then they were in, what could be described as, the center of a volatile tornado. The violent, black wind that is spiraling around them made the situation worse as red lighting struck randomly.

"Ivor, shut that thing off!" she yelled.

"I can't, it's-!" he didn't finish what he was saying because, in a heartbeat, the Command Block violently imploded, and going back to its previous owner, Soren... and severely damaging Ivor.

When the Command Block imploded, it left a severe injury on Ivor. It was a bright, white mist that started with his hand, the same one holding the Command Block, and quickly spread across his entire body; slowly, and painfully eating his body away.

"Jess... help... me..." mumbled Ivor, on the floor in pain, reaching out his hand.

"Ivor!" she screamed as she ran to her friend, only for him to do disappear into a body of mist; gone as his Inventory spilled out.

Then a steady stream of crimson lightning struck Famine, War, and Conquest, causing them to unleash an inhuman scream as they were sucked up with Jess's minions.

War was dragged with her zombie, Hulk, and her wither skeleton, Smoke. In a flash of crimson lightning they disintegrated.

Famine was dragged with her spider, Legs, as they too were disintegrated; their screams echoing in the supernatural storm.

"... MASTER... HELP..." begged Conquest, but him, like his siblings, disintegrated with her skeleton, Bones; their ashes were sucked up and spread by the black wind.

"No!" she screamed in horror; that is until she heard her girlfriend.

"Jess!" screamed Death. "Help!" she screamed as her body started to melt into a black puddle, already up to her chest. She reached out her hand as Jess jumped towards her, reaching out her hand as Death sank deeper, but when their hands touched, Death simply turned into the black liquid and splashed on the ground; gone.

Then it was over. The supernatural storm was gone like Jess's friends, minions, and girlfriend. She is now what she will be: alone.

"No..." she said, panicking, tears leaking out of her eyes. "No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-!" she repeated over and over again while crying in the darkness as her inner demons started to surface.

"... please..." she sobbed.

'Please' isn't enough Jess.

"...someone..." she cried.

There is no one here, they all left you.

"...anyone..." she whispered.

You are alone.

"...come back..." she begged.

They won't.

"...I don't want to be alone again..." she pleaded.

Too bad.

Then in a flash it was over. She arrived back at the temple, but she wasn't inside, she is out in the open, outside in the rain.

She noticed that it was nighttime, and she is in a large grass clearing in front of the temple... and large horde zombies surround them. "You got to be kidding me..." she said, disbelieving as she was still crying.

But that doesn't mean she wasn't angry.

"I am so not in the mood!" she shouted in the rain, at the approaching zombies. She grabbed a large handful of ender pearls from her pocket, that she looted from the End, threw them high into the air.

She did the same thing a few more times, then pulled out one ender pearl and waited for the rest to come down before throwing it straight into the air.

When the dozens of ender pearls landed, Jess rapidly teleported among the zombie horde as she swung her fist; spinning and kicking in a smooth, lethal grace.

After a few seconds have passed, the last ender pearl she threw landed, teleporting her back to her original spot.

She is covered in muck and grime. The zombies stopped, just for a second, before their bodies collapsed on the ground into chunks of rotten flesh.

She started walking ahead; sad, grieving, and alone. "Ow!" she said, stubbing her foot on something, falling on her back on the mud as her face is upwards towards the sky as it continues to pour down.

"It's not fair..." She said, her tears mixing with the rainwater. After who-knows-how-long of crying, she got up, and ribbed her still sore foot.

She then saw what she stubbed her toe on: a block that slightly uprooted, and covered in dirt and vines.

It was then Jess picked up the weird block, moving the smudges and vines off of it; indicating that this item has been here for a very long time.

"What the heck-?" she asked. Holding up the white block. It was all white except for one side. It was a small glass screen that is pulsing a green light.

Jess used [Observe]... her eyes widen in surprise.

Prototype Autonomous Management Agent

Alternately known as P.A.M.A., created by the Old Builder known as Harper to control monsters for mining and/or farming. This block is the central hub for the hive-mind system it creates.

But that wasn't why she was surprised, it was the fact she still had her skill [Observe]! So logically, she should have her other skills too.

A blue screen appeared in front of her, with only one message.

Welcome to the game! You have been granted the power bestowed by the kiss of Death, and still retain the skills of Conquest and War.

Only you, and you alone, have this unique power; use it as you see fit.

She couldn't believe what she was reading, but then started to laugh darkly, smiling as she carried PAMA into the temple.

"Looks like this game is just getting started." She said as she was about to enter her home.

"Jess?" she heard from behind her, a male's voice full of disbelief and hope.

She stopped, turned around, and her eyes widen.
