Chapter 10: Interlude Part 1
Meanwhile, someone is watching from somewhere impossible to reach by normal means...
A girl, who is 16 years old, was watching the Overworld through a large, swirling, red-black portal in front of her. She has sickly pale skin, black lips, purple eyes, platinum blonde hair that reached her feet, with a hairclip with a skull design, and is wearing a black dress that flowed like water.
She sat on her throne of frozen agony, made out of charred, open-mouth skulls, decaying flesh, and black roses. Her throne was on an elevated platform, in the throne room; the entire place is filled with boiling, black acid. The throne room itself is a 50x50x20 cube, made out of smooth white blocks.
It wasn't marble; the material in question is a mixture of bones, packed ice, and sea lanterns, giving the room a chilling, dim atmosphere. Only two things in this throne room that wasn't made of this material is the large throne, which she sat on, and the pillars that have fire coiling around it.
The pillars were actually Giants, a really tall zombie, forced to hold up the ceiling while green-white fire coils around them from the base of their feet, to their head, to their arms, constantly burning them but never killing them; making them feel eternal pain as the acid eats away their decaying flesh, only for new flesh to grow back.
Of course, they didn't really need to hold the ceiling up, it won't collapse, but they didn't know that, and they do what their mistress tells them to do without question.
She watched the portal on her throne, watching the events that go one, making her more and more interested by the second.
'It's amazing how one person can change the world...' she thought, amazed as she watched her person of interest. She has long black hair, emerald eyes, and one arm; her name is Jess.
The mistress watched the events unfold before her, from the past and the present, as she was drinking a dark, purple liquid, which was freshly squeezed from endermen.
----------
Gill was happy, more than happy. The Potion of Healing that the Stranger gave him in the Nether was amazing!
However he was forced to give up the other one because the Kingdom of the Sand is desperate for medical supplies. They went so far as demanding potions and potion ingredients from people, even those who were not in their territory.
He doesn't know if he should be honored, or upset, that King Sand the Fourth, formerly Prince Sand the Fourth, himself robbed him.
But he didn't care anymore, he was happy that he managed to give at least one to his sister.
When he gave it to his sister, she felt good, more than good. In fact, she felt so good, so healthy, she was able to get up from her large bed by herself, without any help!
Gill stood by his sister Ana, just in case she needed help as she walked down the stairs. She was pale, had shadows under her eyes, had short black hair. She wore a bathrobe that covered her body, keeping her warm as she slowly, but surely, made her way outside.
She stood in the light drizzle, under a grey night. The sun wasn't up, but neither was the moon. It was just a calm, peaceful sight. But for Gill it was a miracle, seeing his sister walking, smiling as she looked around the town.
"So? How are you feeling?" he asked her.
"I feel... amazing!" she yelled cheerfully. She then ran up to her brother, giving him a hug. She then realized something. "I got an idea, lets go to the park!" she said as they ran through the town.
They sat on a bench in the park. Watching the clouds as they drizzle down, other people walking around, enjoying the park as well.
"It's nice isn't Ana? Why don't we get some candy later, from your favorite place?" he asked.
"Sure... we can also bring your girlfriend Maya~." She teased, making him blush.
His eyes widen. "Y-You know about that?" he asked.
"No, I didn't." she said cheerfully. "You just confirmed it!"
A second or two have passed until they broke out into laugher, enjoying life and its small moments of joy. But everyone knows those moments can never last.
Ana took in a deep breath, exhaling as for once in years she felt better. She was so relaxed, so at peace, and happy that her brother cares so much. She leaned back on the bench, leaning her head on Gill's shoulder, and closed her eyes.
Gill checked the time. "It's getting late. Do you want to go to the candy store now, or tomorrow?" he asked, but didn't get a response.
He turned towards his silent sibling who was still leaning on him. "Ana?" he asked. No response. "Ana?!" he yelled again shaking her, attracting the attention of people, but she still wasn't moving.
He jumped off the bench. "I need help! Someone, please!" he shouted as a few people came to aid him.
Ana wasn't moving, her eyes are closed, her skin cold as the rain, but she still has a smile on her face.
----------
The mistress smiled at what she saw. This, is what she dreams about. This, is what she thinks about to help her fall asleep. The seeing life snuffed out from a gentle soul, that moment of death... it just feels so good!
She got bored after seeing the people rush the girl Ana to the hospital, and disappointed that she didn't die, so she changed her viewing, like changing channel on a TV.
Her portal showed the Endercon location, people setting up their booths as competitors signed in to claim their designated building space.
----------
It would happen in 2 days. In 2 days, the Building Competition would commence! Except this time, it would be at the location for Endercon!
With the large amounts of space, people would have more room to use for their builds. Not to mention that there would be booths; containing games, food, merchandise, and entertainment.
Normally, the Building Competition would only be hosted once a year. The winning build would be at Endercon for everyone to see.
But this time it's special, this time Soren the Architect himself will be the judge, and his donation of 5 chests full of precious materials will be the prize!
Of course, no one, not even the other members of the Order of the Stone, have seen Soren in years! That is why Ellegaard, Magnus, and Gabriel, personally came to the Endercon location; making sure that everything was going to be perfect.
They wanted to surprise their friend, especially since it has been so long. They just wanted everything to be just right.
"Markus!" Ellegaard yelled at her assistant. "I told you to move that there, and move this into the keynote!" she ordered, pointing where the brunette boy should move the stuff. He let out a huff in annoyance before getting to it.
Ellegaard was snapped out of her disappointed thoughts of her assistant by slow, sarcastic clapping coming from behind her. She turned around to see Magnus who was doing it
"Well Ellie," Said Magnus, his clapping coming to a stop, but his smug smile never wavering. "Still using them as a punching bag for your ego."
She let out a huff. "At least my assistants have a double digit I.Q... unlike you." She insulted back. "Plus, it helps them deal with pressure."
And right when he was about to make another rude comment, a dark-skinned warrior wearing dark blue armor intervened. "Friends, please, this is not the time for petty comments." He said lifting, and struggling with, a heavy box.
Magnus just rolled his eyes as Ellegaard scoffed, but accepted nonetheless, and helped Gabriel with his task.
"So, Gabriel, how are you doing?" Ellegaard asked; making sure that no one was around to hear. "You know, with the 'mission'?"
When she said that, they all went silent. Who could forget about how they are practically hunting down their best friend? Ivor, their brother in all but blood; betrayed by those close to him because he wanted to do the right thing.
"So far... not good." Gabriel said, shaking his head. "It might be hunch, but I think that Ivor has an accomplice."
"Ivor? Our Ivor?" said Magnus, disbelieving. "There's no way he'll team up with someone."
"I have to Magnus' side on this," said Ellegaard. "Ivor isn't exactly a social butterfly, and I wouldn't blame him after all we've done." She said sadly.
"Why would you suspect that Ivor would have a partner?" asked Magnus.
Gabriel was in deep thought, thinking. "It all started when I went to track him with the map, in our old temple. I managed to find him, but he used a Potion of Speed to get away. So I tried tracking him down, going in the same direction."
"You might be a warrior, but tracking isn't exactly your strong suit." Commented Ellegaard, but Gabriel gave her a small glare.
"Anyway, after a couple of days, i think maybe more than a week, I stumbled upon a temple, deep within the jungle. I didn't find Ivor, but I found a girl, no more than the age of 16, with one arm, defenseless against the monsters-"
"Let me guess," interrupted Magnus. "You stepped in, fought the monsters, and saved the girl, right?"
"No, I didn't." Gabriel said, shaking his head. "It was only a spider, a zombie, and a skeleton. The zombie and skeleton had armor, but the zombie had weapons. The weird part is that they fought with such efficiency, such speed and strength... I lost."
If they weren't surprise then, they are now. Gabriel was a tough cookie, plus he had the advanced armor that Ivor created and a diamond longsword that he crafted himself.
"But that's not all." Said Gabriel. "The one-arm girl from before, as I was blacking out from my injuries, she stood among them, and they didn't attack her. It is like the monsters treated her with... respect."
"Hold on," Said Ellegaard. "Are you saying that there is a girl who can influence monsters? Possibly control them?" she asked, curious as she was scarred. Who wouldn't if there was someone like that wondering around the world with intentions unknown?
"But what does this have to do with Ivor?" asked Magnus, a bit impatient.
"When I woke up, I was in a bed. Not only that, but the entrance to the temple I was in was reinforced, and there was a chest that had food, water, and Potions of Healing."
"So?" said Magnus. "The kid gave you some supplies. What's the big deal?"
"Besides," said Ellegaard. "Unless the monsters turned good and decided to nurture you, it's safe to assume that the girl was the one who did all of that."
"But why she did that is the question." Said Gabriel. "If she is the one controlling the monsters to beat me near death, why would she heal me? Or reinforce the entrance to the temple to protect me from the other monsters?"
"Let's just think for a moment." Said Ellegaard. "Lets assume that it is her who did that, if she is the one who placed those potions inside the chest, why do you think she is connected to Ivor?"
"Because those potions in the chest belong to Ivor!" Said Gabriel, much to the shock of the others. "I recognized his work, even now."
"Could it be that this girl simply bought potions from Ivor?" Ellegaard asked, skeptical. "I mean, he does need to make a living somehow."
But Magnus just shook his head. "No way, Ivor wouldn't sell his potions. He doesn't believe anybody else but us deserves to use his potions. You've seen the kind of things he made!" Magnus suddenly developed a depressing frown, remembering the good days with his former alchemist friend. "... Well, used to think that only we deserve it..." he concluded sadly.
"So if we find this girl, then we can find Ivor." Concluded Ellegaard. "We might be able to get the Command Block back."
"You'll help me in my search?" asked Gabriel.
She shook her head. "Sorry, not physically. Magnus and me still have our own kingdoms to run. But we could spread the word, give a description to our citizens so they can spot her." Said Ellegaard.
"Huh, not a bad plan Ellie," complemented Magnus.
"Why thank you Magnus-"
"For a nerd." He finished, snickering and earning a punch to the shoulder.
"Seriously Gabriel, what does she look like?" asked Ellegaard.
"Lets see..." he said, putting a hand to his chin, remembering. "From her looks, I'd say she is about 16 years old. She also has long black hair, green eyes, and her most distinctive feature; she only has one arm."
"A left arm or right?" asked Magnus.
"Left." Said Gabriel.
"Think you will remember that Magnus?" said Ellegaard. "Or do I need to write it down for you?" she taunted.
"BigDumbIdiotSaysWhat." He said quickly.
"What?" she asked, confused by his sudden laughter.
"Oh, hey do you still have that longsword?" asked Magnus, trying to contain his laughter.
"No, I think the girl took it-" KA-BOOM!
The keynote exploded, unleashing a shockwave, knocking everything over from the booths to the people.
After it died down, everyone got up from the rubble, and some didn't get up, to see that the large glass dome of the keynote was destroyed, the walls were on fire, and it was damaged.
"You think Soren will help rebuild it?" asked Gabriel, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Hey, Ellie." Magnus said, tapping her shoulder, getting her attention as he pointed to the keynote. "Didn't you send your assistant in there earlier?"
It was then her eyes widen, rushing forward as the rest of the Order followed, helping others as they did. Some people were unconscious, but not dead. They still didn't find Markus, and later that day he was presumed dead.
No one knows how this happened. But one thing for sure is that Soren is going to be staying here a lot longer than he intended to.
----------
The mistress changed the 'channel'. Getting bored once again. It was a good rush, seeing people panic, but not a single one of them dying. The explosion was a nice touch though.
She then changed the portal to view the Kingdom of the Sand.
